Creme Brasserie - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
The service was fantastic!! We were greeted as we walked in the door. The waiter was very attentive and friendly.
We decided to order dishes that we were out of our comfort zone to try something new. The waiter provided excellent wine selection advice, as well as meat preparedness suggestion.
We were also provided with an after dinner aperitif compliments of the house. Very unexpected, but much appreciated.
The overall experience was fabulous!! Will definitely come back, and recommend to friends.
We have been to this restaurant before and have had good experiences. This time, the place was hosting a wedding and with the exception of three tables, the entire restaurant was involved in the festivities. The wedding party was loud, singing in Latvian throughout the evening and as a result, we couldn't hear a thing. Although the food and service were good, the overall impression was terrible. We were introducing friends to this restaurant and they were so annoyed they would never come again. In my opinion, if you would like to host a wedding to the exclusion of three tables, CLOSE THE RESTAURANT FOR A PRIVATE EVENT. I feel ripped off, taken advantage of, and will NEVER GO BACK.
Joined some friends for diner. Entire place was staffed by only 2 people. Took quite a while for our initial drinks order to be taken. Mains were ordered and it took at least one hour for 4 meals to be prepared. Two of us had the roasted bass, and the portion size was shockingly small for $32. The servers were friendly and ambiance was good. Maybe it was an off nite for them, but I won't be returning.
My friends and I had not seen each other for a long time, ad were given a quiet corner to get caught up. The food was delicious and the portion size appropriate. The selections were very good, covering a wide variety of tastes. Service was friendly, prompt and helpful at all times. We asked for separate bills, and that was no problem. They allowed us to linger over coffee (delicious!) at the end of the evening and even brought second helpings. A great find, and I will return!
Nice ambiance, with friendly waiters. Comfortable seating. Onion soup is nice and cheesy with only a little bread (and that's good). Beef tartare is very good - chopped not g round, proper quails egg, good frites. Lamb shank was nicely braised and tasty. Salmon looked good. Good selection of wines by the glass.
The staff were simply superb - attentive, charming, adaptable, professional. The quality of food for a table of 20 was excellent (they had arranged a fixed-price three-course meal with two choices per course). Lovely ambiance, tucked away in a quiet and pretty courtyard. For the quality, I thought the price was very good.
I took friends for Summerlicious and to celebrate both of their birthdays. It was extremely busy and we felt a bit squished and noisy because everyone wanted to sit inside in the air conditioning. Service was a bit slow but the server was attentive in the end. I have been there twice before, so I know that that was an exception rather than a regular occurrence. The food was great, as usual.
We are always on the look out for restaurants with nice food and a quiet ambiance so that we can chat. Not only were these provided - and the food was excellent - but the wait staff were kind enough to make themselves available when necessary while allowing us to chat for 2.5 hours. We are definitely going back and will be telling friends about it.
Did the summerlicious with a friend. Like most participating restaurants, the appetizers were very basic. Just soup, salad, or crostini. However both were pretty good. Main dishes were great and were a sizable portion as well. I opted for the pineapple crepe for dessert which was very very good, and actually made my dinner worth it.
One thing to note, other than wine, it seemed there was not an extensive drink menu otherwise. The waiter said the restaurant can make anything I wanted when I asked for a drink menu. But when I asked for a mojito (pretty standard), he said they couldn't do it. Overall good food and good service.
We went for Summmerlicious. I had eaten there before and enjoyed it.
I had mushroom crostinis and my husband gazpacho. Both were excellent.
For main course i had the fish and my husband the chicken. The food came hot, attractively presented, and was delicious. I would have liked a more interesting choice of veggies. Many are in season right now.
The dessert were also very good. I had the crepes with pinapple and hubby the crème brulée. The custard could have been tastier with less sugar.
We sat outside on a very hot day on the side of the patio with the umbrellas. I would not sit there again on a super hot day. The other half of the patio seemed cooler as it was shaded by a tall building. It is quiet (when there is no construction going on) as it is away from the busy Yorkville traffic. The view consits of watching well heeled Torotonians doing their shopping.
The restaurant sets a pretty picture and the food was good. We were disappointed to find no pate offerings on the menu. Unfortunately the music selections for the evening, did nothing to enhance the atmosphere. During the course of the evening, the table next to us played name that tune- was it the Beatles, the Go-Gos etc. Something as simple as playing something along the lines of Jill Barber, or Madeleine Peyroux would have enriched the atmosphere expedientially. We were celebrating our anniversary, so we chose to dine French, expecting the ambience to add to the romance of the evening.
