We were seated downstairs in the basement - perfect for a business lunch. Upstairs tends to be a bit noisy.
Service was lovely, wish the meal matched the service. Ordered the pizza to start, as after reading other reviews, pizza was a specialty. Almost no meat on the sausage pizza, in fact, not much cheese either. Food was fair at best. We won't be back.
Outstanding food! It is more on the expensive side, but still worth trying!
Awesome as always, Manager was extremely courteous and knowledgeable.
Love dining at Credo
Credo has consistently great food. When the restaurant is full the noise level in the main dining room makes conversation very difficult. There is a lower-level dining room where the noise level is much more tolerable.
Very fast service with several great cocktails (we had the very sweet Chocolate Old Fashioned and the bitter (regular) Old Fashioned). Excellent handmade pumpkin gnocchi in a butter sauce and well-prepared entrees. Enjoyed the "writing on the wall" decoration, and sat right near the kitchen prep area, but it wasn't any louder there. Will return!
Overall the my meal was good. I had the vegan vegetable soup which I enjoyed, but could have been hotter, the trout I thought was really good. My husband on the other hand had the Cesar salad and the meatball starter. He was not impressed with either. The Cesar salad was bland and he did not think the meatballs were anything to write home about. The service was excellent and the quotes on the wall were a good distraction from my husbands meal.
Such a great experience!!
I thought the menu had a good variety of dishes and was really tasty.
Excellent strudel appetizer, nocchi mid course & cod entre cooked perfectly. Creative wine list with Italian & CA wines. One of my favorites after work.
Terrific night with old friends who needed a proper welcome to the Bay Area from London
I love Credo. I don't get to eat there enough. The meal we had was a combination of Italian and Californian it was delicious and fresh. There were six of us and we all enjoyed our meal. They helped us choose a very nice wine from Sicily and overall the night was great.
We loved the room! So inspiring and fun to read the walls. A great first date place to encourage conversation from some of the quotes! Padraig (sorry if I spelled wrong) was our server, and he was quiet and thoughtful, and very helpful! He made my birthday dinner one to remember! We'll definitely be back.
All great tasting and fresh
Unfortunately, our office did not find Credo to be anything beyond average. Food portions were too small and of varying quality (dependent on the dish), given the steep dinner prices.
The chopped salad was excellent and my husband and I split it. They divided it nicely on two plates and customized one ingredient for my husband. The salmon and cod entrees were excellent with the right amount of firmness to the fish with good flavors. My only complaint is that my cappuccino was not hot enough but the manager took it back and added warm milk foam. The ambiance is interesting with all the quotes on the walls to read and discuss. Relaxed atmosphere and attentive service. We will return!
Great service and amazing food. Best octopus I have ever had, not mention dessert was amazing!
The General Manager, Brandon, is an outstanding front of the house representative who understands how to handle a busy lunch crowd and make everyone feel like they are at a special table. Our server, Alex, was also extremely attentive. The food was terrific and this is a spot that I would feel comfortable taking someone special, for a myriad of occasions.
Credo is great!
Good food and nice vibe, but a bit noisy for me.
Our party of six was "comped" two delicious appetizers by the manager Brandon after we had to wait quite a while for our table. The manager continued to make sure that we received the best of service. The melted pecorino with grilled bread appetizer was amazing, and the pumpkin gnocchi were light and SOOO flavorful. Everything was very good, but the restaurant is very loud, so we were happy to have been sat at a table off to ourselves in the back. Our party was very happy to have tried this restaurant for Dine About Town week! We'll be back.
Food was incredible! Loved the inspiration room decor!
We were seated in the area by the stairwell to the basement right by the kitchen. It was very loud. We had a large party and I thought we would get a table downstairs. I had never seen anyone get seated where we were. The service and food were very good but the noise level was too loud.
It was for a casual business lunch during SF restaurant week. A little shocked that the waiter was trying hard to "upsell" from the $25 special.
I have been to this restaurant more times than I can count. Its on our regular rotation but we hadn't been in a while & something changed. The food was really sub par this time. Pizza crust was burnt yet the toppings were cold. The pasta was not drained before plating so essentially I had cavatelli soup. The blue cheese dressing overwhelmed the fried green tomatoes. Everything was really bland and we had to ask for salt & pepper, something we have never had to do previously.
We went for SF Restaurant week, and after looking at the special menu, decided that it was more food than we could eat for lunch. We opted instead to order 2 starters and split them. We got the shrimp in garlic sauce and the brussels sprouts with pancetta. Both were delicious, and we were both satisfied with the amount of food. The bread is a non-white sourdough, which was sublime with the butter, the garlic sauce from the shrimp. or by itself.
Always a good lunch spot. The portions are big and the menu has something for everyone.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was good and so was the wine! My friend and I were experiencing Restaurant Week and so I made a reservation. I arrived early & the table wan't ready- so worries, I waited at the bar for my friend and the table. I ordered a red wine from Paso Robles- delicious! When our table was ready, the hostess came and showed us to the table. The food was so good. I had the arugula salad & my friend had the octopus, since we tend to sample each other's plates- the octopus was yummy. He had the pork chop and I had the pumpkin gnocchi. The pork chop was perfect. The pumpkin gnocchi was sweeter than I expected....I may not order that again. The bread for the table was good, it came with a salted butter. The dessert: we both had the banana pudding: OMG. SOOO good! I was definitely a happy camper. The servers were attentive and friendly. I would definitely return.
Was surprised to see portion sizes have decreased while costs remained the same or increased. The pasta my colleague ate was unimpressive, but the meatball/polenta appetizer I had was great. Decent by-the-glass wine options. Took quite a while to get check, get it cashed out, etc. This restaurant will stay in rotation but dropped a bit in my book.
Everything was perfect!
We were extremely disappointed with this restaurant. From the minute we walked in and heard the noise level (we'd requested a quiet place), to our server who ignored us (my husband had to eventually shout for the check!). In a word, it was awful.
Every bite was fabulous, and all the service was stupendous. Beautifully plated and wonderful, I look forward to returning :)
Excellent food and service. Good wine selections by glass or bottle.
Fantastic wine list! Food was incredible. Best octopus I have ever had. Server was attentive and courteous. Definitely will visit again!
I've had decent dinners before but this time met a friend for lunch and we were seated at the table right next to the door, and the waiter brought me tea when I asked for tea and water, and I had a salad which was just okay and rather small for the hefty price.
I had the Crab Louie sandwich, and my co-diner had the BLT. We all agreed that our meal was delicious. I will definitely be coming back to the BLT; it looked fantastic!
Food was delicious and presented well. I went for a weekday lunch and it was a bit loud in there, but I would definitely return
The soup and sauce were a bit salty, but nice. Staff were excellent.
This is a local restaurant that we haven't been to in a while so we thought that we would revisit. I like the restaurant and the ambiance, our server was terrific and very attentive, and appetizers were great. Entrees (steak and cod) were somewhat underwhelming (cod was dry and steak did not have much flavor). Would I recommend to a friend, probably not at this time, however would I give them another chance and try them again - I would.
The food wasn’t good. Not good at all. We had a pasta with pesto and chicken and a gnocchi.
