Food was average to say the least, nothing mind blowing but none of us disliked our food. The service left much for improvement. Our waiter was inattentive and aloof. This isn't a restaurant we'd come back to
The food was absolutely delicious! Fresh, tasty and modern Italian.
Our server on the other hand was less than charming. Wow! I've never had an experience like that before. She seemed totally bent out of shape when I asked her if the tomato soup was hot or cold. She was brash and hasty. She literally turned her back and ignored me when I tried to ask questions. Shr msfe me so nervous that I lost my place on the menu and couldn't find the name of the main course I wanted. I practically begged her to wait for me to find it before she ran away. (We had already ordered everything else. No line at the door.) It made for a very strange vibe and I was visibly miffed. Perhaps she ought to find work that doesn't involve customer service.
Since the food was so good I would definitely go back but request a different server.
I selected this restaurant for my 55th birthday dinner. The meal itself was very good. However, service was a disappointment.
Great business venue
This smaller gem offered a range of thoughtful dishes making it hard to choose just one. We went with friends and ordered many to share and we're not disappointed. The waitress was lovely and the service attentive but not overbearing.
I am still going to give Credo a good review, even though we had a 12:45pm lunch reservation yet we were not seated until 20 minutes later. I really enjoy the food at Credo and generally the service is pretty good. The turkey burger was delicious, even though the sweet potato tots that came with it were served cold and soggy. I always enjoy the Ahi tuna salad as well. The restaurant comped us our iced tea to account for the late seating, but I would've gone a step further (especially for a business lunch). I still recommend Credo but I think the restaurant needs to ensure it is treating repeat business lunch diners correctly, and make sure diners are seated on time.
Food was okay, fun ambiance, but lunch service was disappointing. We had four of the same entree ordered and they took ~1.5 hours to serve us, then when the food came it was overcooked and bland. We were sitting right next to the kitchen and watched them prepare the same entree many times, so it seems like they lost our order or gave them to the wrong table. After we informed them that we were pressed for time it still took another 20+ minutes to be served. We were one of the first lunch groups to arrive and the last to leave. The restaurant manager offered to comp us on dessert, or give us a dessert towards a future meal. Given we were already out of time this seems cheap since they knew we wouldn't want to wait for a dessert... or risk coming back and having another bad experience.
Great find. Awesome food quality. Great cocktails. Friendly staff!
Our servers name was Blaze. She was outstanding and the food was absolutely delicious. Such a fun night.
We just had a friends get together at Credo and it was amazing! We started out with a reservation for 10, which turned into 16 at the last minute. The restaurant was so accommodating! The service was OUTSTANDING and the food was fresh and delicious! Great value for such amazing cuisine! We love this energetic hot spot with a wonderful wine list, full bar and creative menu. We will be back!
Pretty pricey in comparison to neighboring restaurants. $5 iced tea seemed steep.
Great ambiance. Service a little slow but tasty food. Nice energy and fun.
Gnocchi dish with mushrooms was excellent again. Attentive staff without being overbearing. Nice wine options by the glass although we brought our own ($25 corkage).
All staff was friendly and I absolutely love the donation and community partners they work with.
Great food...so fresh. Every time I go there, I order something different. It's always delicious. We started with the meatballs and polenta. So good. Also the burrata cheese is always so fresh and good. We all had different meals. I had pasta...so fresh and good. One had a steak salad and one had halibut. All were so good. I have had salmon here before and it's really good, too. Can't go wrong with Credo. It's a cute restaurant, too. I love it!
We had a group of six on Saturday night for a birthday party. The ambiance and food was quite good but the service wasn't great. We were big spenders in a relatively empty restaurant and I felt the service was that impressive (and esp the person who served the wine - he could have been a sommelier as he offered no help or guidance or suggestion - just handed us the tablet to order on. )
Overall this place is better for couples or small groups - I think they didn't know how to handle a big group that spent about $600 -
Pasta was very bad, fish not so bad.
People are very kind
Best 5year anniversary ever!!! They provided awesome service capped by amazing food and the desert to go, perfect
I was in town and tried this restaurant with my wife and son. We ordered the Ceasar Salad, Octopus, Mushroom Risotto Special and the Smoked Trout. All Fabulous and the service was great. Very reasonably priced for San Francisco.
Great dinner with a friend included crossing with figs. 20% of price went to free clinic in SF. Nice wine selection.
My son and I had our monthly dinner here and thought the food was excellent. I am often bored by the same old Italian dishes but Credo had some unique regional choices. The server was fun and helpful.
Good food but can get loud at lunch so private conversations may be challenging.
We had an excellent meal, with terrific service. My only complaint is that I ordered the special risotto and instead of wanting a fried piece of lobster (since I have a severe gluten allergy), I asked for shrimp. They replaced the lobster with shrimp and charged me $12 extra. The server told me it might cost extra, but $12? Didn't the lobster cost offset those shrimp just a little?
My coworkers said I hit it out of the park by bringing them here. Great job.
Overall a bit disappointing. The menu is ostensibly Italian but the execution is not: liquid risotto, overcooked sole, fried oysters with prosciutto, burrata with prosciutto, melon with prosciutto (paraphrasing Tucci "...sometimes prosciutto likes to be alone ..."); while edible, the food was just not up to expectations and to the price. Ambiance is entertaining, noise level very high.
Great place to have excellent food with out being stuffy. Attentive staff at every level but not overbearing. Everything was just right.
Would never go back for a business lunch. Too noisy and the service was long. Our reservation was for 12 pm, and we didn't get our entrees until after 1pm. Our guest had to leave so she had to get her salad to go...then they brought the wrong salad to her.
Chilled cucumber soup and fig & cheese crostini were divine! Great options for vegetarians. And, I always appreciate restaurants that serve Champagne by the glass, not that aweful proseco...yes I like good bubbly.
Disappointing...though we only had a simple meal. The melon and prosciutto was delicious, our sausage pizza turned out to be quite bland as it cooled. Never had that experience before, so we were disappointed.
We were seated about 15 minutes after our reservation time despite being there early. We were provided appetizers (2 kinds) for a table of 12 while we were seated. From that point on, the food and beverages were delivered quickly and efficiently.
The noise level prevented conversation that engaged the entire group. Would recommend that if setting a reservation for business meeting (group of 4+) that you ask for seating other than the main dining room.
Wife had Pasta and was over cooked and I had the sole and was super salty and was alone with no sides for the most expensive dish on menu... maybe should have some peas to balance out the dish. Avacado and cucumber chilled soup...Nasty sour taste. Was Friday night and restaurant was half empty... Wonder why!
Always a great after work dinner place for quality food and a glass of wine
Great service. When I couldn't decide between a cocktail and two different wines, the gentleman who asked me for my drink order recommended the Rose and it was great. And, he made me a mini version of the cocktail - Guava Pimm's Cup, which was very refreshing. The heirloom tomato salad was very fresh with interesting cucumbers and eggplant too. The crab pasta was a bit heavier than I expected - could have use more herbs and lemon - but ha tons of crab and a hearty serving of fresh pasta. Service was attentive and not intrusive. Ambiance was very comfortable and not pretentious though a bit loud when the place was full. Many veg and non-veg options. I'll be back!
Nice spot with great food for lunch in the financial district of San Francisco.
Service was good. Food was fresh and flavorful. A bit expensive: $35 for halibut, $20 for pasta. Might go back, but not soon. Too many other options.
Great food, excellent service. Lots of choices to share.
We were very disappointed with our eating experience at Credo. It is highly rated, so we were looking forward to a nice dinner. First of all, it was very noisy, in spite of the fact it wasn't overly full. My entree, which was a chicken dish, was very bland and the mixed vegetables with a grain weren't much better. I rarely complain about food. My husband had a clam pasta dish, which he said was very tasty, until he bit into something that was like plastic. We asked the waiter to check as to what it was. Turns out it was an eastern clam of some sort. It was inedible. The waiter was pleasant, but didn't seem to be into his job. Not too cheery. He did not charge us for my husband's dinner, which was very nice of him. All in all, a very disappointing experience.
If you do a business lunch there, try to get the private dining room on the lower level. MUCH better for conversation!
This place was awesome. This was our second time here, and it far surpassed our expectations. The menu is creative, the flavors divine, and it's honest food cooked properly- not some precious, overdressed, undersized portion ready for magazine pics but useless for good eating.
The dishes all had a perfect vibe-
Speaking of vibes, two things stand out. The bar was really active and we really enjoyed the energy of the place. This is a great party place, meaning hanging here feels like a party, and put everyone in a great mood.
Also, the staff is superb. They know their menu and their wines, and were great for helping us with choices. And they take pride in the place, and are enthusiastic, which is infectious, and made everybody feel happy.
All in all- everybody loved the night that we spent there.
