At Credo, we believe that good food and good company go hand in hand. We believe in the time-honored tradition of the dinner table debate and the swirling mix of ideas that makes this country great. We believe simple things can be brilliant, like authentic, responsibly-sourced ingredients, attention to detail and gracious hospitality.
Credo's menu reflects a deep appreciation of Italian culinary traditions combined with Northern California sensibilities. Distilling robust and complex flavors from simple ingredients—including local produce, sustainable fish and imported Italian specialty items—and classic preparations, our selections are quintessentially Italian...with a distinct point of view.

Credo Ratings and Reviews
So, this is our 3rd or 4th time here, and each time, we walk away satisfied, but not entirely jazzed about our visit. This place has so much potential, but each time we go there, it's just "meh..." I'm speaking about the food (it's good, just not as stellar I would expect for the location nor the pricing). It's also significantly loud inside--I have no idea how to fix that, but it's a consideration--more appropriate for a happy hour atmosphere. That being said, our server was pretty great! Accommodating, friendly, helpful. It made up for a lot.
We booked this place for a party of 9 only a week before our visit. Our first choice of restaurant, booked through Open Table, actually called to cancel on US, which I've never heard of, so I was very happy to find something for such a large party. That can be challenging in SF, especially during the holidays. I was a little concerned that they had availability for 9, so I wasn't sure what kind of experience we would have, especially since we have a "foodie" group. Well, it was lovely! Great service, and we had a little cubby all to ourselves, a wise choice unbeknownst to the restaurant! Food was great and I felt very reasonable for SF. Usually looking for a location around Union Square during the holidays, but went FiDi this year, and it was great. Very loud, though, so if you're looking for a quiet romantic evening, this is not your place. Nice job Credo!
The pasta dishes were amazing, especially the ricotta gnocchi! The burrata was also super fresh and a great starter to share. The restaurant is pretty small so not as idea for bigger groups but great location near Financial District for business dinners or casual dining.
We got there at 5 and able to get happy hour drinks ($3 off regular price). We got the shrimp appetizer and it was amazing!! $19 for 4 prawns... pricey but delicious. We got the deboned petrale sole ($29) and the waiter took all the bones out at the table which was fun to watch. My bf loved the gravy/sauce they poured over the fish after it was deboned. I got the clam linguini and it was so salty... almost inedible. But I paid $25 for it... so I ate it with the table bread. It wasn't the best meal for me. If you ask my boyfriend, he definitely enjoyed it more. He gives them 3.5-4 stars out of 5. I'm sticking to my 2.5 stars. Good shrimp and drinks but bad main entree. Waitstaff was amazing though and loved the ambience. It was quiet when we first got there and easy to hold a conversation but as soon as six rolled around the place had a lot more people and it felt like I had to shout to be heard at my table.
The food was absolutely delicious! Fresh, tasty and modern Italian.
Our server on the other hand was less than charming. Wow! I've never had an experience like that before. She seemed totally bent out of shape when I asked her if the tomato soup was hot or cold. She was brash and hasty. She literally turned her back and ignored me when I tried to ask questions. Shr msfe me so nervous that I lost my place on the menu and couldn't find the name of the main course I wanted. I practically begged her to wait for me to find it before she ran away. (We had already ordered everything else. No line at the door.) It made for a very strange vibe and I was visibly miffed. Perhaps she ought to find work that doesn't involve customer service.
Since the food was so good I would definitely go back but request a different server.
I am still going to give Credo a good review, even though we had a 12:45pm lunch reservation yet we were not seated until 20 minutes later. I really enjoy the food at Credo and generally the service is pretty good. The turkey burger was delicious, even though the sweet potato tots that came with it were served cold and soggy. I always enjoy the Ahi tuna salad as well. The restaurant comped us our iced tea to account for the late seating, but I would've gone a step further (especially for a business lunch). I still recommend Credo but I think the restaurant needs to ensure it is treating repeat business lunch diners correctly, and make sure diners are seated on time.
Food was okay, fun ambiance, but lunch service was disappointing. We had four of the same entree ordered and they took ~1.5 hours to serve us, then when the food came it was overcooked and bland. We were sitting right next to the kitchen and watched them prepare the same entree many times, so it seems like they lost our order or gave them to the wrong table. After we informed them that we were pressed for time it still took another 20+ minutes to be served. We were one of the first lunch groups to arrive and the last to leave. The restaurant manager offered to comp us on dessert, or give us a dessert towards a future meal. Given we were already out of time this seems cheap since they knew we wouldn't want to wait for a dessert... or risk coming back and having another bad experience.
We just had a friends get together at Credo and it was amazing! We started out with a reservation for 10, which turned into 16 at the last minute. The restaurant was so accommodating! The service was OUTSTANDING and the food was fresh and delicious! Great value for such amazing cuisine! We love this energetic hot spot with a wonderful wine list, full bar and creative menu. We will be back!
