CRāVing sets out to serve you the food you crave. You know, that dish that you say to yourself, “I’m dying for…” Daily Chef’s CRāVings will take the region's bounty of fresh ingredients and bring them to life, in dishes that you didn't even know you were yet to crave. Our new dinner menu is constantly evolving to showcase the freshest ingredients. The dinner menu you see on this site may be different than the one we are serving tonight.
My husband and I met a good friend of our there on Saturday night. We were greeted at the door and properly seated to our table. Our waitress was kind, prompt and quite professional. Our food was a good quality and we will be back soon.
The food was beyond my expectations. I had a meat platter appetizer with fried oysters, salmon belly and kielbasa. Such bright flavors. And where else in Buffalo can you get fried oysters! Ample in size to be an entree or to share with a couple of friends.
Yes because I want them to stay in business, but my asparagus salad was pretty bad. many pieces of asparagus were too tough to chew and other than the mushrooms, there was very little creativity in this salad. Also, very stemmy greens!
Good farm to table restaurant with an ever changing menu. Quiet with very good service.
Food was wonderful! Our server took excellent care of us. We will definitely go back again.
Awesome as always!
Been going to CraVing for years. It’s our “Go-To” restaurant. Every meal is a winner. Chef’s really know what they are doing and our attention to details. Service is always great as are the bartenders.
It was a great place, nice ambiance, will go again for sure!
I had the arugula salad and it was delicious. My sister had the Caesar salad and said it was the best she ever had. For dinner we had the short ribs and chicken respectively. The entrees were great. Service was excellent. The owner stopped by the table several times to see how we were doing. There is really nothing to complain about + I'm running out of adjectives.
Visited CRaVing a few times and I'm NEVER disappointed! Everyone is always very happy with their selection no matter what was ordered!
It was our first time there and it happened to be restaurant week. Our hostess was extremely nice, especially since the other couple in our party had to cancel last minute due to illness; so we were two people instead of four. It was very busy and I actually felt bad taking up a table for 4, the Hostess couldn't have been nicer. The food was very good and portions more than we expected for Restaurant Week. We will definitely return.
If a friend didn't mind a loud environment, I'd recommend it. I really don't enjoy sitting so close to other diners because everyone can hear each others' conversations. The food was presented nicely but we wouldn't order salmon or gnocchi again.
The short rib dish was good but the fettucine sausage dish was too salty for my taste. The salads were big portions and the taste was wonderful. The best part of the meal. The value of the dishes for the local restaurant week was good. The server and hostess were friendly and helpful. I would return again on a night when they are not so busy.
The main course--short ribs--was to die for, and the surrounding veggies perfectly done. The salad, with asparagus and mushrooms atop greens, was interesting, though I would have preferred something at room temperature to the warm mushrooms. Nice glass of wine and attentive servers. I dined alone in the little table at the window. With my back to the light, I was able to read my newspaper while enjoying my meal.
We love farm-to-table dining! The gnocchi special was so delicious and fresh. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and the homemade s'mores was SUCH a treat. Paired with wonderful and friendly service, we will be back!
Our party of 2 went during restaurant week. We ordered off the restaurant week menu although the traditional menu was available. The selections were outstanding. Fresh, artful, fabulous, the flavors were refined and amazing! We were overwhelmed with the quality and experience. Having previously dined at CRaVing last year we wondered what took us so long to return. Hope to venture back soon.
Waitress appeared unhappy to be at work,,,slow service, limited drink menu that was incredibly pricy and also VERY limited choices for food unless you like leg o'lamb or some other exotic food or want to pay $25.00 for a chicken breast...Small portions, bland taste,,,won't be back,,,,
Great place to get a healthy, satisfying and delicious meal. Living on a farm myself I appreciate that Craving chooses to provide locally sourced food that not only benefits it’s customers but partners and supports local farms. Bravo!
Great food. Cute little place. Not much in the way of decor, but very quaint. Table seating is a bit tight, but we came early and I enjoyed the booth side. Our server, Nicole, was wonderful. Very personable, very knowledgeable of the food and its presentation. The hostess/manager/seemed to do literally a bit of everything was also tremendous. She checked on us frequently, even as they started getting very busy, came over and poured my husband’s beer, and had the bartender make me a most delicious mocktail with their homemade honey lavender and ginger syrups. Divine! The bone marrow and oyster tartine were outstanding. The outdoor seating looks like it would be wonderful to have another delicious meal and Hertel people watch as it gets warmer. Will definitely be back. Thank you.
The food is mediocre. Lacked in flavor and was just ok.
Our server was wonderful.
The highlight of the meal was the Smore for dessert.
This was a fantastic meal all around. The fresh pasta was perfect, the bone marrow delicious and the salads were perfectly dressed. We will definitely be coming back!
We went with another couple for dinner; this was our first dinner visit to Craving. From the craft cocktails to dessert, everything was delicious. I had the Caesar salad and the gnocchi, along with a "Deep End" cocktail. We all split the "giant s'more" dessert. The little cups of hot cocoa that came with dessert were decadent. I also had a bite of the meatball appetizer and the figs wrapped in bacon appetizer. We all agreed the figs were one of the best "bites" we had ever tasted. The service was excellent throughout the meal. Several people assisted our server, so we never waited long for anything. We are already talking about when we can go back. My only issue with any place on Hertel is that parking can be tricky. But that is why we are so grateful for Uber.
The employees were very polite and the food was delicious. I would recommend going in for dinner and drinks. I will be coming back to this restaurant
What a wonderful space for this wonderful restaurant! Excellent food and atmosphere!
Always good service here. The food is on the most part good. Smaller portions. Some days it's quiet and some days it is loud. Quaint atmosphere, love the decore.
Went on a Friday night. Was extremely loud in there and don't know why people were talking so loud. Food was just okay. The pizza was the best thing we had and was the cheapest part to our meal.
Food was great but I think the mains menu could use an overhaul, I ended up with the lamb chop special which was delicious, but left me wanting more. The service was good but I felt there was a bit of a delay at times clearing plates or refilling waters.
Consistently great restaurant! A jewel on Hertel Avenue & another reason why this section of a Buffalo is in the vanguard of excellent, creative dining.
Wonderful food everything we ate was delicious. We were a party of three and shared 2 appetizers 1 salad 2 entrees 1 dessert and it was the perfect amount of food. It also allowed us a good variety. Will definitely return for another meal
Great atmosphere, Awesome Food and Friendly Staff!!!
Couldn’t have been better. Excellent service and wonderful food. 1/2 price on wine so a great deal!!! We will be back soon!
We went for Sunday Brunch, AMAZING! I had booked online for 4, well at least I thought I did, they had us for 2. Table for 4 was not going to be available for a couple hrs or we could sit at the bar. As we were discussing what we all wanted to do, the hostess/server came back and said they could accommodate us in a few min. Talk about GREAT service! Everything to follow was AMAZING!
As always, we were quite pleased that we decided to spend our wedding anniversary at Craving! The hostess recognized us at once and remembered what we drink. The food was delicious! Thank you for another wonderful evening! The Johnsons
First time here . Really enjoyed. Great specials .
Tried a new cocktail - cock of the walk based on recommendation from waitress. Loved it .
Will definitely return. Might be my new go to place on Hertel .
Using mostly locally sourced ingredients, the menu is balanced, interesting and the food items well presented and tasty. Everything is of high quality. The asparagus salad is especially delicious.
We dine here frequently and as usual the food was wonderful
We had eaten here previously and enjoyed our meal very much. This time, however, we found the menu somewhat limited. Offal?? Seriously? And just about every dish had squash in it. My husband I shared the smoked veal brisket, which was tasty, but it had too much squash in it. The mushroom plate appetizer was odd, with some strange orange mushroom on it that had no taste.
For the price, the food was not as great as we hoped
This food is outstanding. The menu is ever changing and is farm to table fresh... you can tell too. We had the mushroom plate as an appetizer. Unique, delicious, and a conversation piece. Try it.
Had the smore for dessert. It’s a permanent on their menu and ridiculous good. Too big for three people so we brought some home.
We live nearby and dine out frequently. This our favorite spot for a really nice meal in the Hertel area.
Our waitress was super knowledgeable and helpful. Amazing meal and great date night
