CRAVE - West End Ratings and Reviews
I enjoyed my dinner with shrimp and scallops on fettuccine. My husband had the ribeye, asked for it to be prepared rare. It was brought to him well done. Asparagus on the plate looked as if it was a thick branch of greens, being unable to eat it. Mine had artichokes in it, that were too tough to chew. Once I picked the artichokes out, mine was fine.
Friendly, welcoming atmosphere in which to gather with friends! Our wait staff was spectacular in every way! Appreciated her attentiveness and also the support staff's attention to detail. A bit pricey for our budget, but the food was tasty and attractively presented.
This was the fourth consecutive Valentines Day that we have eaten at West End Crave. As before, I gave detailed preferences of where we would like to be seated.
We WERE accommodated with a large booth, but it wasn't in the mid-section of the restaurant. It was on the main aisle to the right of the hostess entry desk. Hence, it was very noisy and almost seemed like the "dreaded" back room.
To me, ambience is half of the dining experience. We DO not "just go out on a week night/weekend" to CRAVE West End, but choose it annually for Valentines Day and occasional Birthdays. Since there are so many poor choice- possibilities of where we might get seated, this may be our last Valentine's Day spent there.
The food and service were great. We were in a smaller back room with no windows, and were joined by a large and noisy group. Next time I would request a table by the window in the main room, though I suspect the noise level might still be a bit above my comfort level.
The host sat us in a private party room where a group larger than 20 people were yelling across a long dining table and walking about the room during their meal. We could barley hear each other during our Valentines Day dinner. This room seemed to be where the overflow from the Valentines Day rush was seated so that Crave was able to max out on reservations. The menu featured a Valentines Day coursed menu that tasted like it had been sitting in the kitchen for hours. Bread was soggy and steak was dry. We will never go here again. Tried to grab a bite to eat before our movie in West End but next time will keep to our independent restaurants in the North Loop. Our server was good.
He was the only thing that kept us from getting up and leaving.
The service sucks we waited like 20 mins before we was offered complimentary bread and water. Ofter waiting 1.5hrs for our food it was burned and tasted burnt, dry and distasteful so we paid and got it packed up left a good tip and left. No one check and see how we was doing or anything
Given how expensive the food was, I had greater expectations. The food was okay, but not great. Also came out luke-warm so I am sure it was sitting for awhile. Waited 30 minutes after reservation time before being seated. The decor is great, but the noise level is not.
Ordered salmon cooked to medium. It was rare. Waiter brought out another filet and it was even rarer than the first. Third time was better, but not great. Sort of turned me off to salmon for awhile. Would have been nice to have the cost of the filet removed from the bill without having to ask (which i didn't). Waiter was great. Food disappointing, when it's usually better.

I sent an email yesterday after dining to general manager with NO RESPONSE.
Given that it was Super Bowl weekend, I'd make some allowances, but our entrees arrived before we'd finished our appetizers and were cold. Wait staff never asked if we wanted wine and had to be prompted to offer dessert. Food was decent to good and staff were friendly enough, but deficient service tainted the evening.
It's consistently very good and provides a lot of interesting menu options that we always seem to be back. I like that the food portions are just right and they don't over do it with dainty portions with ingredients you need to google. Right price point ranges as well. Keep doing what you're doing.
I eat at crave frequently. my last experience was terrible. The portions have shrunk and so has the quality of the food. The manager discounted our food by 50 percent on the one item because we asked to share this one dish, we ordered several others. the item arrived cold and missing half the ingredients and a very small portion for an expensive price. we put the total portion in one bowl and sent it back, and ordered something different to replace the item. we were charged for both items .The manager said that the discount was because we asked to share the dish and one of us enjoyed it.
Really enjoy the food, variety is awesome. Everything I've ordered there is great. Service is quick, friendly and efficient. The noise level is pretty high. If you plan to have a deep conversation or need quiet for your dinner, you may not want to go there but we really enjoyed our evening there.
Crave was good but nothing I would be excited to go back to. Too loud, expensive prices for good food, not amazing. Waiter was working his butt off, bar was slow though, not his fault, must not have had enough help making the drinks. Made reservation for 5 but they put us at a 4 person table, the fifth person was in awkward position.
