CRAVE - Mall of America Ratings and Reviews
We told the people at the front desk we had reservations with OpenTable and got stuck at table right next to the kitchen. we asked to be moved they said we could only sit at the sushi bar. we decide to leave and go wait outside till a booth was open....then they immediately took us to a booth which is what we wanted. everything was good and had a great server after that
The food and service at Crave are always fantastic. In this case, we were there for Valentine's Day. My wife ordered stuffed sea bass and she wasn't really pleased with the crab stuffing. She didn't think the flavor went well with the fish. They brought her another piece of fish right away and were very nice about it. We love eating there.
We had the Valentine special dinner for two:
King Kong roll (sushi) - Delicious
Pre-dinner snack - OK
Scallop appetizer - Delicious
Crab stuffed Chillean Sea Bass - Crab stuff was tasty but near cold. Sea Bass was hot and good.
Service - Outstanding. Waitress was attentive but not over-bearing.
My husband’s birthday dinner was at Crave this year. We had a great time and had a great service . We spent quite a bit of money and had to ask if my husband could get a dessert with a candle to celebrate his day. I was a little shocked we had to ask for it. Also it seems as though the prices were higher than I last remembered . Not sure I would have a large party there again for how expensive it was .
Waitress was excellent. Took over 25 minutes for our drinks to come and were terrible. Sangria was bitter, Dragon martini tasted like cough syrup. Chicken was over cooked. My favorite sandwich is only available on lunch menu and was told they couldn't make it, although at another Crave location they had no problem whipping it up.
This is my second time in 2 weeks eating at the CRAVE restaurant at the Mall of America. It just so happened that the Philadelphia Eagles were eating there, too, in a private room. Our waitress was friendly and took the time to answer questions and make suggestions. We got the wings appetizer--the wings were large, meaty, moist and flavorful. Everyone enjoyed their food selections!
My family had an early Sunday lunch. We have always had a good experience with the food and beverage choices. My sons always love the burgers and we have been fortunate to have experienced good service. The only odd thing about our experiences has been that the Mall of America location seems to have an aversion to seating anyone with a reservation at a "good" table in the restaurant area. Everyone who arrived early Sunday was seated in the bar so we didn't feel singled out, but we are often offered a table next to the bus station, even when I've specified our reservation was for a special occasion. Not sure who they are saving all of the nice booths for...
Crave and the Nordstrom Cafe are our choices when at the MOA. We like the variety in the menu and the small plate/large plate options.
I'm taking the time to review them now because, although we've had some hiccups with service a few times (the reception folks seem distracted and don't track waiting patrons that well), without exception they step up and go the extra mile to make it right. The bar staff seems to keep the place humming. It's a very busy restaurant, so there's no way they aren't going to have some issues from time to time, but we've been impressed with management's commitment to keeping the customer happy.
The Bourbon Steak we ordered Medium and it came out Well done and tough to cut and chew. The stroganoff meat tasted freezer burned and old. Overall very disappointed in the quality of the meat.
The smore dessert was the best part of the whole meal which is sad because the dinner was not inexpensive.
I would not dine at crave again.
The Mall made it difficult to enjoy CRAVE. The table we sat at was close to people walking by and felt like we were in a Jurassic Park movie with the bouncing. Water glasses literally shook every 10 seconds. We received an awesome rewards perk so it was still worth the time, but would never go back without the coupon perk.
The Sushi menu seemed like the same thing over and over just listed in different order. I love tuna, but some variety wouldn’t be bad.
The overall experience was nice. I chose the restaurant for it's convenient location at the MOA. The main dining area is a bit crowded, but we selected a high-top table with seating for 5 in the bar that was pretty private and quiet. We enjoyed the sushi boat, which was more than enough food for 4 of us. Our service was acceptable, although the waitress' silly attitude might not be appreciated by all guests. I'd recommend it for a nice, healthy dinner at the MOA.
