I like Crave a lot, however made a 6:00 PM dinner reservation with another couple to dine and then go to Phantom of the Opera. Arrived at 5:50 PM but didn't get seated until 6:25. Advised waiter we had plans to go to Orpheum and got meal and had to rush to finish ad pay to get to the theatre. Need better planning on getting people to table at the scheduled reservation time. Made the whole dinner rather rushed and shouldn't have been.
I had reservations and was early. I was seated at a high table and wanted a lie booth or table. They couldn’t accommodate.
My waiter was very nice but at the end of the night he got slow and waited for my dessert for a long time. I had to ask about it to get it.
The food is always really good but I think it’s not as good as before.
Food and ambiance was great! Service was ok, could be better. Server came by once to ask how’s the food while walking by when I say it was “great and delicious” he kept going. Manager was nice she ask if we were ok and converse a little. Overall it was great dinner right after a Phantom of the Opera show. I was with my autistic nephew and he loves. We had the calamari great taste and dip, he had the crunchy roll he was kind of disappointed because he thought it was going to be crunchy outside but it was only called crunchy because of the shrimp tempura but after he tasted he loved it. I had the seafood paella. I’ve been craving paella for almost 3 weeks now. Been looking for a good Spanish paella. It was very good but I couldn’t compare it to the seafood paella I had in Barcelona. Don’t get me wrong it was the food was good. Last we had the s’mores brownies desert it was a bomb! I thought it was going to be too sweet with the marshmallow but it was just right. Overall it was a very good night and good food!
know that if you have a reservation the night of a show at the theater- it doesn't matter. We showed up and were told that they'd let us know when they could take us... when I inquired as to what was the point of a reservation I was told that they'd seated lots of folks going to the show next door and they'd get us seated when they could. Thankfully the evening wasn't a total loss- we had an amazing server, believe his name is Chris.
I think we were there on an off night. The staff was slammed and we had to wait quite a while until we were seated. Staff took the edge off by serving a complimentary flute of bubbly which was very nice and took away the sting. We had a very nice and hard-working server who checked to make sure we were OK -- attentive but not annoyingly so. The food was disappointing which could have been due to the pre-theatre crowding. My friend had the beet salad which contained 1small slice of beet. I had a fig and prosciutto flatbread and the toppings were very skimpy; there may have been some cheese on it too but I could not swear to it. This is the third time I have gone there and on the other occassions the food left a lot of flavor to be desired. Servers are always well trained and prepared. We didn't indulge in our usual shared cocktails and starters because we were so late to be seated.
This has been one of my go to places for before going to the theatre, and while they have made me cut it close to a show before (which is why I planned an hour and a half this time), it has never been this bad before.
We had a reservation for 5:45 pm and were exactly on time. When I stopped at the host table they told me I was "checked in" which confused me because I had a reservation. We waited at least 15 minutes for a table (it's now 6 pm), keeping in mind our show started at 7:30 so this is less time than I wanted, but still doable. Luckily I had included some buffer time when I made the reservation and we only had to go downstairs to the State. Then things got worse.
The drinks were good and the flatbread appetizer we got was out fast and tasted great! But then the waiter didn't put our food order in right away for some reason. It was after 7 pm when we got our food. We had also ordered a second round of drinks that came wrong and by the time we got them it was also after 7. So while the food and drinks are amazing, we had less than 20 minutes to inhale our food and drinks and pay the bill. That included my $30+ steak (which was great, or so I think, I barely got to taste it as I ate). I didn't give them my Crave loyalty card because I literally didn't want to take another minute and be late to our show.
The plan was to have time to sit back and enjoy some wonderful food and drink with my friends visiting from out of town before a show and it turned into "how fast can you eat because we have to go now!" I will be looking into other options for restaurants for pre-show dining which is too bad because the food really is good.
Crave is where I took my staff for a holiday luncheon this year. We got away from our annual trek to Manny's, in part because neither of them eat red meat (but were more than willing to go there again anyway). I thought we should do something different, and it worked out great. The fish was very fresh, and there were a number of creative dishes to keep the two of them happy. Having just had dinner at Nobu in Washington DC, a brand new location, I was amused that CRAVE was serving their version of yellowtail with ponzu and jalepeno. I will say that while Nobu invented the dish, CRAVE does a really good job on their own version, including a sliver of cucumber and a piece of citrus on top. I would definitely go back when I am in the Minneapolis area.
The filet mignon was cooked to our likings...However all three of our meals were barely warm. Didn’t complain or send back as we were headed to a show and didn’t have time to spare. Our server knew that we had a show too, we gave ourselves 1 1/2 hours for dinner-so we had plenty of time. Sadly, the table next to use, got there and ordered after us, received there food before us. :( Disappointing...and our bill was around $170, you’d think we’d have gotten hot food for that price. If our food would have been hot, I’d have given 5 stars, but our food sat in the kitchen getting cold before we got it.
The food and service was fantastic. My husband liked their sushi and I like the chicken parm. It was a tad pricey, especially beer, but the food was good so that can be overlooked. The atmosphere was very cool as well and I like that they take reservations for all party sizes, not just 6 or more.
We had a 6:30 p.m. pre-show reservation and arrived on time. Unfortunately 30 minutes later they still hadn't seated us and our show started at 8:00 p.m. Out of desperation, I asked if our group of 5 could sit at the sushi bar. They said fine, but service was invisible and we all sat in a long line and couldn't talk. Why bother getting a reservation if it means a 1/2 hour wait and then still no table?
Food was good - don't get me wrong. But I really wouldn't recommend them for pre-show dining. They don't know how to manage tables to get people in and out. They also accept way too many reservations - - which turns it into a waiting list when you walk in.
Came here before the ballet. Our server Alex was wonderful. He gave us many suggestions from drinks to sushi, and was very attentive throughout the whole meal. He was very funny and personable and made the whole meal that much better. We ordered one of the sushi boats and it was outstanding. Some of the best sushi we have had in the cities. We will definitely be back.
A wide-ranging menu means there's something for everyone at this energetic, child-friendly restaurant. The food is very good and the service was excellent. A manager stopped by our table (six of us and a toddler) to make sure everything was satisfactory - it was. A good choice.
We order two items from the gluten free menu--the mussels and frites and the chicken pasta--and a regular order of scallops and shrimp. Our server was friendly and attentive. When the mussels came, they were without any frites. We were about to ask about that when the manager came and explained this was a new item for the gluten free menu and the frites weren't really gluten free because they were fried with gluten products--because of that, they decided to not send out any frites, and when our server saw that, she asked why before we could and that prompted the manager to stop by. I said no problem, you can send out the frites since I didn't have a gluten problem. But when the frites came, they were not very good, cool and seemed like they had been sitting awhile. No big deal, but a little disappointing. Then the entrees came. The chicken and pasta came without any chicken. My shrimp and scallops came with 4 shrimp and one scallop. I've had this dish at other Craves, and there has always been an equal numbers of shrimp and scallops-either 3 or 4 of each. When the server checked back, we asked her where the chicken was--and she agreed, they had forgotten to add it--and I mentioned the shrimp /scallop issue. She said she'd have some chicken "sent out". Unfortunately, that never happened. She said she'd have the manager stop by again, but that never happened either. We had to leave for an 8pm show and couldn't wait, but I gave her my number and the next day the manager called. He said came back again and he'd pick up our meals.
So the food we had was pretty good (except the fries), but forgetting to add the chicken to the chicken and pasts dish is pretty bad. The odd shrimp/scallop number isn't such a big deal, just not right. But calling up and saying they would comp our next meal is very good. So a mixed review--if they had done a few more things right, it could be 5 stars, but the mis-steps were too much to be overlooked.
