Easter brunch - Craigie is always solid. No valet was unexpected and inconvenient given the holiday - took forever to park. Should have just Uber’d.
Amazing amazing burger!!
Food tries to be too hip and in fact is just ho hum.
Craigie never fails to impress. We love their whim dinners on Sunday nights for their constant play on tried and true dishes and the sheer inventiveness of stuff we've never seen before.
This is not the same resturant it once was. Dinner included the toughest Wagu sirloin I've ever had, sous vide or not. All and all, feels like a budget-version of what Craigie once was. My wife and I were saddened. With the chef's tasting menu no longer available, we're unlikely to return any time soon for date-night, out of town guests or for professional recruiting purposes - all things we used to rely on Craigie for.
Service are awesome! Stuff notice everything quickly, pour water, clean dirty dishes, we had great hospitality service:
They gave us complementary fish dish from chef, very nice! And they did a cake with candle for my husband birthday celebration.
The whole experience was fantastic. From drinks at the bar before our reservation, to the service, to the 4 course dining experience. If you're going to craigie on main you know you're spending some money. This experience isn't cheap in any way. But it's a beautiful night out for a special occasion
The food was good but the portions were so small and the price was outrageous. I would not go back.
Food was very average and portions were extremely small. Overall not a great value for your money
Last minute booking on a Friday evening - sat in the bar and grabbed a few quick bites. Food was excellent, blending interesting and unusual flavours. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable- good recommendations on the wine.
Sunday night tasting menu was remarkable and very economical. Our server Max was great!
Phenomenal as always
Craigie on Main is expensive, but in my opinion it's worth it for a special occasion. Everything was perfectly cooked and the service was impeccable.
Food and service were excellent! The famed burger was the only disappointment-- we felt it had been overhyped and was a pretty standard, unremarkable burger. Everything else was creative and well-executed. Thanks for a great meal!
Amazing food and service
My pasta was so salty I couldn’t eat it at all. My fiance’s Food was better but really not much above average
Expected much more. Average food, bad location, very noisy. Do not understand the reason for high ratings of this restaurant by Times Out, whose recommendation we followed.
Sorry, but no meal is worth the price we paid. Tables were too close together. Not sure why it was so expensive; nothing was gold plated or anything. It was only chicken! We won't go back. Sorry.
My previous meal at Craigie was amazing. On this visit the service was slow - especially cocktails. The food was allright, given the price tag. I was not thrilled with the salad options. I think there was only 1 salad which tasted ok, not great. The food was good - the chicken, the artic char - but it did not feel special or that we were getting enough for the price tag.
Unfortunately, this restaurant did not live up to our expectations based on reviews read prior to our experience.
I took my son on his 21st birthday. They treated us extremely well and the food was excellent. Service was outstanding and people were very nice and very professional. I highly recommend.
Perfect place to go for a special occasion. Waitstaff is knowledgable and friendly, and the food, wine, and cocktails are superior.
The price fixed menu is too expensive for the portions you get. The service is less than sub par.
I ordered the priced fix menu and was there for a little over two hours for a three course meal.
The first thing the server said to us: “sorry for keeping you waiting.”
No había agua mineral sin gas de botella. No había Vino Blanco Pinot Grigio. La comida estaba fría. Los contornos de la comida eran escasos. No había café expreso. Pocas veces he salido Yam decepcionado de un restaurante
The food! The Service! (Max), the atmosphere. Absolutely great. We will not hesitate to come back.
We went here for a 6 course tasting and every course was fantastic. They were paired well with wine!
I did tell them it was my birthday and they treated us ra to a glass of wine! How nice! We were getting a bottle, but it allowed to have a more appropriate wine with our first course!
Great food and superior service. Wonderful combination. We will be back!
We had high expectations before trekking to this James Beard award winning establishment, but found the experience uneven. Surprisingly we found the side dishes - notably the bone marrow and the bread dishes which are excellent at Craigie - more appealing than the traditional prix fixe. In particular, the kitchen seems to have oversalted the sirloin and oxtail entree', and as a result drubbing out the all the subtle flavor and juice of Wagyu beef. Seafood fares such as scallops, smelts, and oysters were solid, but not materially above the high bar set by other Bostonian establishments.
The food was good, aside from the fact that they served me something I’m fatally allergic to and the waitress caught it as I was just about to take a bite. The manager didn’t even have the decency to apologize in person. Completely unprofessional.
If I spend $500 on dinner for 3, I expect a solid experience. Not even a great experience, just a solid one. The only things that I would say held up was the food quality (aside from the aforementioned incident), and our primary waitress, who overall was good.
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. I just moved back to the city recently and was looking forward to coming in for some nice drinks and food after an extremely stressful work week. I was very disappointed in the restaurant’s execution, and while I would like to think they should be as well, they really didn’t seem to care.
Thank you to the chefs! Attentive but not intrusive professional service compliments the extraordinary presentation and preparation of my son’s special birthday meal. Truly excellent.
Outstanding, creative food and the best service I've had at a Boston establishment. A real treat.
If you love fine dining and Michelin starred restaurants, this might be one of the best value (bang for your buck) restaurants that you can go to: $85/person for the four course prefixe meal. Everything was magnificent.
The mushroom conchigle pasta had an amazing depth of flavor. The entrees (the pork loin, bratwurst, and pork belly for one and the wagyu and ox tail for the other) were both magnificent. The panna cotta I had for dessert had an amazing caramel and blueberry flavor and was the best panna cotta I've ever had. The sorbet was light and refreshing.
The atmosphere was dim and romantic. The service was welcoming.
I've been to one other Michelin 2 star restaurants (along with a 3 starred and eight 1 starred restaurants), and Craigie on Main was definitely the superior of the two by miles easily (and cheaper at that). Definitely come here if you want to experience fine dining done right.
This was my 2nd time at Craigie, the last time 2 years ago when I really enjoyed it. My husband requested it for his birthday this year, as he had never been. 4 of us went, and on Saturday there is an $85/head required 4 course Prix Fixe menu (includes no drinks). My husband is a former LA based chef (who has cooked the Oscars), and the rest of us foodies who have eaten around the globe and Boston. There was nothing about this meal that was either worth the money or the calories. It was extremely ordinary. Even the "Pig's Head", which looks amazing, was bland. Presentation all good. Quality and Taste all Meh. What really astounded was the $10 supplement for a single lamb chop. That's $95/each for our two friends that ordered them for a single regular cut lamb chop (not even a double thick cut...just a single). The appetizers were particularly ordinary. I got 4 smallish oysters, but they were not special. Just oysters, and only 4. My friend got the scallop dish, and it was tasteless as much of the dinner was. He didn't bother to finish it. And my husband and other friend got the salad (the only non-shellfish option as he is allergic), and it was just odd. The sauces were so bland, including the "Mustard" and "Hoisin" sauces for the pates and pig head. Better out of a jar than here. Really. The desserts were the worst. The Prix Fixe included dessert, and all 4 were bland, and would have better from an average diner. Neither tasty nor interesting. Honestly shocked by this. The best thing I ordered was the Flash Fried Mackerel as a second course. Tasty, but with an $85 - $95/head price tag, really? And they charged an extra $10 for the smallest bowl (really cup sized) dish of cauliflower. Lastly, they bizarrely added a 3% additional service charge to the bill. We couldn't figure out what that was for, as parking is extra at $15. This is the least satisfying "Special Dinner". It's not the cost. It's the poor quality.
Wait staff was superb. Sommelier (Todd Lipman) was an amazing source of knowledge and very gracious.
The food was Amazing! I can't wait to come again!
So wonderful! For my boyfriends birthday, they took the opportunity to do some really special touches. Staff was absolutely wonderful and the food was incredible
After noting in the reservation that our evening was dedicated to a belated birthday celebration and Valentine’s Day, the hostess arranged the best seat in the house in the corner with a wonderful view of the service and the entire dining room. They even arranged a specialized note to acknowledge the occasion.
The service was impeccable, the drinks delightfully refreshing, and the food expansive and on point.
While it is a pretty penny, it’s a place worth every cent. We will be back.
Craigie was on the leading edge of the emerging Cambridge restaurant scene but has been eclipsed by newer and better peers like Giulia, Little Donkey, etc. It was disconcertingly easy to get a last minute reservation and very quiet in the restaurant (just a few years ago you couldn’t get near the place on a Thursday night). They are now a prix fixe menu only, which I didn’t know. In any case, the selection was broad and interesting. The oysters & mignonette were excellent. The fried smelts very tasty. The fish was very good but unremarkable. We had an excellent Burgundy as well. Service was good.
