Great menu, started with excellent cocktails. Service was excellent would recommend
Their house burger was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend it.
My husband's steak was very tiny, and certainly not worth the price. He complained and the cost of his entire meal was taken off the bill. We didn't ask for this, and were very impressed that the staff took our situation seriously!
It was a great dining experience and the foods were awesome, we had 4 people and we ordered the pig head for the entree, it was delicious but we couldn’t finish it because it was huge! It’s definitely a nice place to get together with friends
Unreal burger just unreal
We had a very nice dinner at Craigie. The waitstaff was very attentive. The food and drinks were both delicious. The tasting menu has limited options, so if you are a picky eater, this place might not be for you. Overall, a very good spot to eat dinner for a special occasion.
Tony Maws and team have been dishing out creative and distinctive food for years, with attentive and appropriate service. I am happy to say they continue to do so. I brought some first timers to the Craigie, and the choice made me look good. Plus, I revisited some old favorites (like marrow bones) and tried some new dishes (like heirloom kale salad.) It was all good.
Came in specifically for a burger on Tuesday, 1/8@5:30pm, with a reservation. Was SLOWLY seated at the bar and immediately informed the bar tender that I had time limitations, needing to leave @6:15pm. Even with this info, he took my order, a burger with NO CHEESE (I'm lactose intolerant) and proceeded to 'chat' with other customers at the bar. Several minutes later, I heard/saw him place my order. At 5:57pm, my burger arrived. After my first bite, I checked my burger to discover it had cheese. After several unsuccessful attempts to get a server's attention, with time slipping by, I scraped the cheese off. Not happy.
Excellent dinner for two on a chilly Sunday evening. The food and service could not have been better. I especially appreciated the Moroccan-inspired parsnip dish on a groat bed that tasted better than anything we ate on a recent trip to Morocco. Each dish we had was very well-prepared and thought out. The bill was admittedly a little higher than I expected, but the dishes at Cragie on Main were well worth it. The Sunday evening reservation also allowed for a quiet table and dining experience.
We love Craigie’s. Phil is a super star! Gets better every time!
We were lucky enough to grab the much sought after Craigie on Main burgers! Totally worth the early dinner :) Would highly recommend.
Good restaurant. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
New Year's Day brunch menu was fun, creative with ingredients that played well together. We sampled three different mains -- all excellent. Cocktails were fine. Table in bar had good spacing from others; conversation was not a strain. Service was a little slow and fuzzy -- bread basket took awhile, courses well-spaced, had to ask for coffee after dessert; coffee on first pour was not up to temperature.
Always excellent food and service. Well worth the trip into Cambridge.
Good food, good ambiance. Service was just ok.
Excellent food and service. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening celebrating NYE
We were at Craigie with friends for the New Year's prix fixe menu and it was outstanding. The service was superb and the wines excellent. Expensive? Yes, but a truly worthwhile meal to savor.
I have been to Craigie for both dinner and brunch a number of times and this was the first time I was disappointed. We were there for NYE with a fixed menu and my husband had to send his main course back to the kitchen as the lamb was tough and mostly all fat. Service was excellent however as was the rest of the meal and the wine pairings.
NYE pre-fixed menu was wonderful-as usual, the food and experience is worth the expense. Our waiter was superb, patiently making great wine recommendations to our party and explaining the menu.
Tony Maws continues to produce brilliant food. The wines are curated so as to be rare and excellent at reasonable prices. For example, the Laherte Frères Brut Rosé de Saignée Champagne. The pork shoulder confit was spectacular. My daughter and son-in-law in town from San Francisco were so happy with the Maine scallops. And I ordered a side of bone marrow which they devoured. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. This place is a gem.
Not our first time at Craigie and won’t be our last. Impeccable service, and fortunate enough to get a tableful of famous burgers that live up to the hype! Pre burger, devouring the bone marrow toast, melt in your mouth Brussels, and can you take an onion ring to the next level? Certainly, a total taste treat. The offering of beet hummus was sublime. Handcrafted cocktails were creative and perfected by a Skilled Barman! Water servers were on point with a delightful merriment. Cheers for Craigie!
We were in town for a few days before meeting up with friends for New Years. Took the opportunity to try Craigie on Main and it was totally worth it. The service and food were both outstanding. We highly recommend you try this place and we hope to be back sooner than later!
Eric, the bartender was excellent & the hamburger melted in your mouth!
We love Craigie on Main for Christmas Eve, as well as other times of the year. We have been taking our family every year for Christmas Eve for years. Food and service is superb.
Wonderful "Chef's Whim" dinner. Delicious food and attentive service from friendly staff. Would happily trust these skilled chefs as often as possible.
I will definitely be adding Craigie on Main to our regular rotation. We were very impressed with the casual ease of the dining room. The pacing of the meal was fantastic which allowed my wife and I the opportunity to converse as well as savor each course. Our meals were very well prepared and delicious. Farm to table and snout to tail at it's finest. Sommelier Todd was also extremely pleasant and helpful.
We loved the food and overall dining experience. It made for a very special evening.
My only recommendation would be for the vegetarian and vegan options to be as creative and delicious as the meat and dairy.
It is a real treat to watch a well organized kitchen in action. Nothing appears rushed, but dishes are completed quickly and with smooth precision. The scallops were perfectly cooked and accompanied with sauce and sides that complimented them well. My wife loved the combination of winter vegetables and their sauce. Valet parking was especially appreciated on a rainy night.
The main reason we go to Craigie on Main is for their tasting menu. We are both vegetarians, and they do a wonderful job of creating tasty luxurious plates. Unfortunately, they stopped doing the tasting menu, and we were not aware of this when we made the reservation. Thankfully, they accommodated us when we arrived and saw that there was no tasting menu....otherwise, we would have had to leave, which would not have been fun, since it was our anniversary. We so appreciate how they took care of us and it turned out great. But since there is no more tasting menu, and since there is mostly meat options on the menu, we may not return, which makes us sad, as it was our favorite place to celebrate special occasions.
The food during Chef's Whim was fantastic and it was for a special occasion. We appreciated the amount of seafood we received in our dishes, and everything was cooked to perfection! I liked the risk taking involved with some of the food. However, our server was visibly pretty cold to us, yet very warm to the large party behind us. That made for sort of a jarring eating experience and detracted from my view of Craigie on Main (I've been here many times in the past and it had never happened like that). We noticed that different tables got different plates during the experience--sort of made us a little jealous to be honest because the food smelled so good as we were eating dessert! I'd recommend seating maybe half an hour after 9 pm to get a better experience.
We recently had an incredible meal at Craigie on Main. We went on a Sunday night and chose the prix fixe Chef's Whim, a four- (or six-, if you prefer) course menu that's a complete surprise until each course arrives at the table and is available only on Sunday. (The "regular" menu is also prix fixe.) The chef creates whatever strikes his fancy based on whatever fresh ingredients are in the refrigerator at the end of the week, and what he comes up with is extraordinary. Even though I had certain dietary restrictions, he was able to accommodate them and did so graciously. You need to bring an adventuresome palate, as many of the dishes are quite unusual or use organ meats (which not everyone loves), but every one of them was truly delicious. Our server, Max, provided superb service and helped to make this memorable evening even more unforgettable. We look forward to returning!
Food and service was wondwrful
the food was good, but not outstanding. Service was just ok, definetly could have been more attentive.
Food and Service were excellent. Our server Eddie added to the evening.
Pricing was ambiguous and confusing. Waitress not terribly attentive. Salad was too bitter, chicken was good. Overpriced.
First, I like a fixed menu but would appreciate knowing about it ahead of time. Second, the food is good however there were limited choices. Third, the service was fine but felt phony. We had a good time but spent a lot of money without feeling particularly like it was worth it. Unlikely to go back.
Sorry for the fair review...but I've been a long time fan of Craigie OM and this is not the Craigie I'm used to! Everyone was lovely (hostess, servers, etc) they really were great--very apologetic also about the exceedingly long wait for our first course, then second course, then third...And once received, sadly the food was just okay--nothing to rave about. I really hope this was a one time glitch!! We pay a lot of money for our meals here so this whole thing needs to be tightened up ASAP!!
Great experience. The staff made us feel very welcomed and were excellent hosts.
Craigie On Main was a delicious dining experience. We sat at the "ring" seats which allowed us an unobstructed view into the kitchen and of the kitchen staff. I have never so closely observed the workings of a fine restaurant. I gained a new appreciation of just how hard the cooks work and how quickly they must move from task to task. I was nervous for them actually and could palpably feel the pressure they were under! The food was delicious, obviously fresh ingredients and outstandingly prepared-the flavors of each course were wonderful and the complementary beet dip starter was just so fresh tasting and yummy. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The prices were reasonable based on the depth of the dining experience. I had a chance to meet some of the hard working kitchen staff at the end of my meal and they were all delightful. I commend them for their efforts and for the delicious food they prepared!
