Went here for lunch on our first day in NYC. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. Wonderful experience. The steak was perfectly cooked and all the food was seasoned well. Dessert was beautiful, ingredients were fresh and high-quality. My only complaint was that Tom and Padma didn’t come to eat with us 😉
Visiting Craft restaurant has become a family tradition. There's always something on the menu for every taste bud, for every preference. You can't beat the value! The portion size is filling without exposing you to the after meal lethargy, so you can continue exploring the city or return to work. The staff is helpful and knowledgable, especially Sara! We came to celebrate a special occasion, and thanks to her we still can't stop talking about it. Five starts to her and many, many thanks. The steak and Craft burger are a must, and don't fear the squid salad. It wins all the yums!
Truly excellent food and wine. Superb indeed faultless service. Top marks.
The welcome and atmosphere was great. The different servers was confusing. Our server got lost and never checked with us once our food was delivered to make sure everything was to our liking. The food was fresh and delicious but the portion sizes were very small, considering the price. Overall we would come back and give a second chance.
This is one of the best meals that I have ever had. I highly recommend the restaurant to anyone who is looking for high-quality food in a comfortable atmosphere.
Really good from bread service right through the muffins they handed us as we were leaving.
Really nice restaurant with a great menu.
We celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary here last night. The food, service, suggestions from servers, accommodations for dietary restrictions more than exceeded our expectations! We look forward to returning well before our 44th!
Exceptionally friendly service, excellent food.
My wife and I went with high expectations as we are a big fan of Tom Colicchio. I hope he sold this restaurant as it is not exactly a model of his opinions on Top Chef. The restaurant has the same ambiance as an “outback restaurant “giving a poor impression from the start. We ordered the tasting menu which was reasonably priced at $95. The amuse-Bouche was a small raw oyster that was tasteless except for very salty water it was soaking in. A strange starter as many people including my wife do not eat raw oysters. The first course was Supposed to be Blue fin tuna belly. It was so fishy as to be inedible. They quickly replaced the dish with a Hamachi substitute which was fresher but definitely not as fresh as you would expect in a restaurant of this reputation. Next was a pleasant but clumsy ravioli with favs beans. Third was lobster in butter and pea, the lobster was the best part of the entire meal. Fourth plate was Wagu Short rib, it was three tiny slices of what looked more like a thick piece of sirloin steak that had been sous vide and then seared black on a hot pan. I’ve never seen anyone cook Wagu Chicago style especially short rib. The strawberry dessert was pleasant enough but was not overly inspired. We each had two glasses of wine which were served attentively but not once did anyone come and refill my wife’s water glass the entire night. It was a shame as we travelled across town with high hopes for this restaurant.
The food was ok, not very exciting or tasty; Plus they were out of the two menu choices that she and I most likely would have selected. The service was good. They did forget our drinks more once though. My dinner companion and I agreed that we would probably give it another try later on just to see if we came in an off night. The ambient was really nice and it was very comfortable.
Fabulous short ribs!
Highly recommend the chef's tasting menu.
Craft made our anniversary so special and treated us like royalty. The menu recommendations from our waiter were spot on and the food was out of this world delicious. THANK YOU!
For a restaurant owned by Tom Colicchio, Craft was pretty darn disappointing. But first, the great thing. The quail was superb! The limp over cooked aspargus? Really? The augratin potatoes? What would Chef Coliccchio say on TV? Maybe a bit more cheese and where is the salt? The wine list was impressive and extensive. But the prices were outrageous. I can't imagine guests who can't afford a several hundred dollars bottle of wine to do. And that was the very low end. The only cognac desert choice was - I must have blocked it out - was it really hundreds of dollars? Let's pretend that the meal was excellent. Then at the end, as a gesture of the chef, a plate of tasteless choclate bites and some tiny fruit thing that was just boring. Chef Colicchio would chastise chefs on TV to not bring a meal to an end with such a poor offering. We visited four restaurants this past week that belong to chefs who judge on the Food Network. Sorry Chef Colicchio, go home as you won't be advancing to the next round.
Truly a wonderful experience. Service was helpful and friendly. Thanks!
It was an amazing meal! Desert to die for! Great local ingredients.
Fantastic food. Best service we've had in years (seriously). Truly top notch dining experience.
From all the special touches for our anniversary (complimentary bubbly, personalized menu, well wishes spelled out in dessert plate) to an amazing tasting menu, Craft made this a night to remember!
Warm, inviting service married to unfussy food that focuses on the quality of the main ingredient--we love it
We dined at Craft on the basis of a referral from friends who enjoy the experience of dining in an establishment that loves serving great food and wine. Craft exceeded expectations throughout the dining experience —from making and confirming the reservation; to serving in a dining room that was beautiful and welcoming, to food presented and meticulously prepared; to service that was attentive and gracious without being interfering or patronizing. Our server was knowledgeable, appreciative of the work of the chef and kitchen staff, and congenial. We loved Cesar. The sommelier, Sara, was charming and completely well versed. And the manager, Curt, took us on a tour of the kitchen because we appreciated the hard work and talent that created such a wonderful meal for us. The food was amazing — complex flavors made with fresh, seasonal ingredients from local purveyors. Can’t say enough about this dining experience. It is one we will always remember with great joy and appreciation. We will return at the next opportunity and hopefully with friends.
We had high expectations which were not met in many key areas. The macceroni with suckling pig and asparagus was way too salty. The Bavarian Cream pie with strawberries was small and lacked presentation and taste. More strawberry slices would have helped. We ordered the ribeye for 2, which was served sliced and was delicious. Presenting the cut before preparing would have been a nice touch as well as cutting it table side. Copious water pouring was also bothersome. We were not asked if we enjoyed our food.
I had a such fantastic time. I was there celebrating my girlfriend’s birthday. They took the time and extra effort to personalize her menu and made her night feel very special. The food was fastastic, the deserts was to die for. But it was the overal customer service that won us over. Thanks you.
We went for my daughter’s first night living in NYC. I let Craft kniwband they did a special dessert Welcome to NYC”. Soooo cute. Great fresh food and i grediants.
Craft was great I would go back again and again. I had one of the best dinners and the service was top notch. The food is so fresh and prepared beautifully. Thank You so much for such a great experience.
One word... amazing! My mom, sister and I were on a trip to NYC and had to try Craft. The wait staff was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. We had my 9-year old daughter with us also and they were very accommodating. Our waiter made a meal suggestion for her main course (not on the menu), however she loved all of the sides including ones she'd never tried before. We had a great experience and the food was delicious!
Amazing overall experience
This was an outstanding evening out. Hubby and I were having a date night with friends and decided to do the tasting menu. What a complete joy for your palette. Every course was better than the next. Rich flavors. Beautiful presentations. And good size portions for a tasting menu. Wwe were definitely full. They were particularly attentive and knowledgable about everything you were eating. And a few unexpected surprise courses made for an even more amazing experience. The service and attentin to detail was impeccable. It was a phenomenal night and I would highly recommend Craft and cannot wait for own next visit. Wonderful!
Great place - food was incredible
the crab was awful, soft shell crab is suppose to be crispy not mush. the Halibut was dry, if it wasn't for the sauce I would not have been able to eat it. The octopus was tasteless and overall portions are too small for what you pay. $40 Halibut for a small dry piece with nothing else. Same for the Octopus, small portion for the price. Horrible value!
Celebrating my boyfriends birthday at Craft was one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. The service is outstanding, food is exquisite and every single detail is taken care off. Thanks for crafting such a beautiful night for us!
We had a great time. They accommodated our early play time, expediting our service. It was my birthday so they went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed the experience. Charlene (sp?) was our waitress and she was AMAZING! Best Gnocchi we've ever had
My wife and I ordered two salted crusted sea bass, which were not cooked well and were still raw inside. After that, event though the manager tried hard to make things better, the whole experience was spoiled. Service was good and the place is really nice
Spectacular. Just an outstanding dining experience. Went for a birthday dinner with my mother. Greeted warmly at the hostess stand and seated right away. (We had a reservation.) Service was immediate and attentive. Waiter was knowledgeable about menu and had excellent suggestions on the wine list. The goat cheese agnolotti was incredible. My halibut was creamy and light. My mother's chicken was buttery and tender. We finished with the donuts, which melt in your mouth. One of our best dining experiences.
Just awesome. Maybe the best food I've ever had. Up there for sure. Really no low notes. They got the wrong short rub order but took care of us. Grilled Wagyu beef short rib once we got it was to die for
Impeccable in every way!
We always enjoy our dinners here and will keep coming back. Great atmosphere. Meal was expensive because of the cocktails and wine.
4-5 years ago this place was a 10 out of 10. I think they are living on the older glory. Menu was not as inspiring as it used to be. Entrees were luke warm. I have been a hear a bunch and this was my first trip back in a while, it has moved down my list but still pretty solid.
I mentioned in my reservation that it was our anniversary and they greeted us and made it feel like we were regulars. It was very special treatment and exceptional service. the tasting menu was awesome and the presentation as well as the flavors of all the courses was excellent.
My husband and I had a really wonderful dinner at Craft. This restaurant is beautiful, we loved the food, and our servers were prompt and attentive.
The drink I had was a pink cocktail that I’ve forgotten the name of, probably because I had 3 of them. It had strawberry and basil, as well as vodka. Yummy, and not too sweet. The wine book was extensive, but I just liked my cocktail too much to switch over to wine.
The bread that was served with butter was amazing. One was a country loaf that was simply delicious and soft. The other was a darker whole grain bread with flax seeds and other little crunchy nuts inside. I loved that one!!
The food was why we chose Craft, and everything was delightful and delicious. The caviar was served with small brioche toasts and the option to give a little spritz from a fresh orange wedge, and it was a nice new bright idea to give caviar a citrus boost.
We shared a big salad of arugula with pine nuts for our second course, then for our main dishes I had soft shell crabs and he had the wagyu flank steak. Both dishes were so amazing that we finished them, which I usually find hard to do after bread, apps, and salad!
The soft shell crabs were outstanding. There was no chewiness at all to them, and they were very meaty. The wagyu steak was delicious as well, and the sauce went perfectly with the whole dish.
My birthday dinner was a total success at Craft. We were seated in a private corner spot where we could talk and enjoy each other’s company and conversation. It’s nice to go on a date with my hubs and be able to talk to him in a quiet atmosphere, unlike at home with our kids!
Thank you, Craft, for a wonderful dinner, yummy drinks, my keepsake menu, and even a muffin for the next day!!
Was expecting more from the food, had the pork ragu and found pieces of gristle in the meat. Didn't complain because these things happen, but the thought kept running through my mind, because of this Tom please pack your knives....
