Craft Ratings and Reviews
I love Craft. It's always such a treat to go there with a friend or two. I've taken many
people there to celebrate their birthdays. I will only go to "conscious" restaurants, and
although there are more these days, much still needs to be done. I love Tom Collichio's
philosophy and I appreciated his letter to restaurant workers about the harassement issue.
I'm boycotting Mario Batali's restaurants as an aside...
Thanks for your attention to detail and the care you take in your preparation
Had a 9:15 reservation. I got there early and they said the table was being prepared and would be ready soon. We went to the bar and at least 3 other couples came in after 9:15 and were seated before us. We were seated around 9:40. We split a pasta dish as an appetizer which was excellent as was the arugula salad. The braised short rib arrived in its own little copper pot with one pearl onion, one small piece of carrot and a mini turnip or parsnip. It had very little flavor and needed salt. On the other hand, the side of brussel sprouts, while smelling delicious, was too salty to eat.
We are regular visitors to Craft. The staff and food are always awesome! This is the first time we selected the tasting menu. We had fun rating the various courses as to which we liked best. While we each rated the various courses differently, we all agreed everything was delicious.
We took advantage of Restaurant Week and had lunch and we were not disappointed. I had the Duck Liver and Pork Belly which was to die for and the Tangerine sorbet was also very good. My son had the Steak Tartare and a Pasta Dish with Short Ribs that he thoroughly enjoyed. I will definitely return Restaurant Week or not.
Was rushed shamelessly. Waiter started clearing our table before asking whether we were done. Waiter brought us our check without us asking and did not offer us an opportunity to order coffee/tea. My pork belly was terrible. Overcooked and dry. I have been at this restaurant before and my previous visit was good. This last time was terrible. I would not recommend.
Had loved my previous experience at Craft so was especially disappointed when the sauce on the entree was over salted. Especially surprising when one of my friends complained as well of too much salt. (I don't use a lot of salt but I do use it & realize it;s needed to enhance flavor)
Excllent service. Allowed us to linger for more than 2 hous without feeling rushed. Only slight bump was we ordered shitake mushrooms as a side and the waiter suggested mixed mushrooms. I was surprised when the bill came and the mixed mushrooms were $22 rather than the $15 for the shitake.
We were seated promptly for our 2 pm reservation. Our friend was celebrating a 'big' birthday. She was given a personalized menu, rolled and sealed to take home + a nice dessert with Happy Birthday spelled in chocolate-all very nice. We had the restaurant week lunch menu, with many more choices than the usual 3 per category. The appetizers (beet salad, lettuces, duck liver mousse) and desserts (sorbet, carrot cake, chocolate semifreddo) were all very good. Wheat Berry dish was a bit chewy and my monkfish (subsitituted for Skate) a tiny bit undercooked. Overall, we enjoyed the food. Service was very good. Would come again.
We had an outstanding experience. We ordered the tasting menu and wine pairings. I was thrilled that they were able to modify my meal to accommodate a gluten allergy. Every bite and every pairing was perfect. Truly a wonderful restaurant. Excellent service and amazing wine list too!
