CRAFT HOUSE Dana Point
At Craft House we pride ourselves on having one of the best American whiskey selection in South Orange County. From you daily drinking whiskey to the one's you've spend your life trying to taste (all of the Pappy van Winkle collection).
My wife and I live in Dana, and have passed this place- meaning to eat there sometime.
Well, we finally did this past week- Wow, we have been missing some great food and drink! I had the “a special “- Italian meat sauce with home made fettuccine; and my wife had the spicy chicken sandwich. Both were outstanding. The beer on tap was fantastic!!
Love this place!
Love the staff and the creative dishes and cocktails!
Service was pretty bad. They were too busy to handle the crowd and ran out if silverware. Got our food and had no utensils
Always enjoy the atmosphere, interesting menu & specials, view from the patio across PCH is nice, tried Sunday brunch for the first time & liked it, will be back!
We have been here many times for dinner and decided to try their brunch, and we're glad we did. The food was excellent (portions were massive) and washed it down with bottomless mimosas. Service was fantastic - Spencer was helpful and attentive. We will definitely be back!
The food and drink were so good. The desserts were so yummy. we were a table of 5 and we all ordered something! that never happens. We had the scallops (they were cooked perfectly) the veggie pasts, the meatloaf that is legendary! I've also been for brunch on a different day and that was also fantastic!
Great food and atmosphere! Love the custom drinks especially the bourbon ones! Definetly will be returning
I hardly ever fill out reviews, but this place really deserves one.
We showed up for our reservation, greeted by a terrific host that made an excellent wine recommendation. Following the amazing appetizers, we have the Ribeye... OMG. Easily best steak I’ve ever had!
Finished with pumpkin cheese pie... unbelievable.
Will Return?: Immediately!
Good service. Average food. Pricey.
Located on busy PCH - sitting on the patio exposes you to major car noise and exhaust. Inside is rather noisy and cramped. Service was very polite but sooooo sloooooow!!! The server brought the wrong Champagne 2 times and promised to take it off the bill - which of course did not happen. Ordered the Pulled Pork Poutine as a shared appetizer which was 100% devoid of pulled pork. Can across some bits of meat-like substance. Taste was not bad - just no pulled pork. As entrees we had the Vegetarian Pasta dish of the day - nicely prepared but kinda tasteless and the grilled Hamachi - well prepared, fish slightly overcooked. The place gets busy real fast so reservations are recommended. In all - more show than substance. A typical place that will continue to be popular because of location and bar setting. Certainly not a place that can be recommended for dinner.
Had a birthday brunch on Sunday 9/15/19. Food was wonderful, guava mimosa yummy and of course the service was great!
Average spot, maybe above for the area. Certain foods were missing important ingredients and returned cold. I’d go again and sit at the bar but not for any occasion.
I thought it would be a slow night. But, the bar was rocking. And, ‘outside seating’ was a bit less noisy than ‘indoor seating’. But then, we needed to deal with street noise - and the drivers (of muscle cars) going through their ‘mid-life crisis’.
The food & service were great, as usual. Plus I ordered one of their new menu items, Pork Schnitzel. It was great, but a very large portion. I might need to share it next time.
This place is a great ‘local dining experience’ - and the beer list is very extensive.
This is the only place my boyfriend and I will come for brunch! The service is always fast and servers are very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place. The breakfast burger/sandwich are fantastic :)
Great place for Sunday Brunch! Bottomless Mimosas!
Our food was over cooked, the air conditioning unit was dripping water from condensation and was falling directly on my head and arms and lastly our water was more interested in the kid gaming next to us then to check on us.
We visited before w same couple but brought another couple who are real foodies and like good service. These guys eat out often. Server did not bring drinks right away and one drink for new couple was delayed a good 15 mins and forgotten. We asked 2 people and finally got it. Food is a bit pricey for what you get. Old Fashions are amazing. This trip service and food were par. Server didn't apologize for the delay.
We loved everything about this restaurant. Will definitely be coming back. Great happy hour spot also.
I love that they have a delicious tofu dish on the menu!
Normally everything is delicious but someone made hockey puck biscuits. I’m sure they will correct.
Birthday for my kid the food was great and they took care of us.
Frank’s the best!!! We only eat dinner here when he’s working. So fun!!
We had been wanting to try this restaurant for six months. Whenever we tried to get a table (on last minute notice) the wait was two hours - so we had high expectations. We finally went on a Thursday night when it was less crowded and were seated immediately. The bus staff was attentive but the waitress and bar service was disappointing. We ordered our drinks (two whiskeys since Thursday night was 50% off whiskey) and a couple of starters to begin. Our drinks took forever. I have never had the starters arrive before the drinks before. The waitress must have had too many tables to deal with that night as the service was slow enough to be annoying. When our final bill came, the whiskeys were on there at full price and I had to ask for prices to be corrected. We were disappointed and may not give them a second try. Disappointing since it seems to be a popular place. It makes one realize how much good service is an essential ingredient beyond ambience and good food at a restaurant.
Mac and cheese was to die for
Balcony tables are nice but loud because of pch traffic
Our waiter was nice
Such a beautiful place. The food was amazing! I would totally recommend the chilaquiles and the bottomless mimosas. The servers are so nice and attentive.
The food and service was fabulous. Great place to have dinner with family and friends.
Probable would not return there. Ordered one of the specials for the evening--Filet Sroganoff.
So few pieces of meat that I had to hunt for them. No bread offered. Thought about Mahi Mahi was a main course but it was $38. I would pay that for Chilean Sea Bass but not Mahi Mahi.
We took friends that had never been. The special pasta was beef stroganoff. The meat was dried up, minimal sauce, tasteless. My friend sent hers back. Service was very friendly however.
Every time we asked our server a question about the menu, he said he'd have to go check with the chef. We all felt our food was very mediocre. Our server spilled hollandaise sauce all over our table and didn't do a good job cleaning it up, so when we set our champagne glasses down, they slid across the table and onto the floor. We also had ordered peach cobbler and after he brought all our food, we asked where that was and he said he forgot to tell us they were out of that. We had mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday. He brought the bill and then brought a dish of birthday ice cream. Very disappointed in the entire experience!
Our dinner was incredible - food and service exceeded expectations, even after coming highly recommended by a friend. We will definitely be back!
I was looking forward to dinner here but left disappointed. My friend had the highly recommended (by the wait staff) smoked grilled meatloaf, one of the specialties. The smoky flavor totally overwhelmed the dish. It was served over a grain? that was watery and tasteless. When I picked up the special James Beard burger, the meat crumbled and fell out. Before that though I took off the golf ball size blue cheese aioli that was topped on the burger. Way too much. I didn’t like the taste of the ground mushrooms in the burger meat which was more of a personal taste thing. The last dish at our table was the craft burger which was good but nothing special. It didn’t seem like the dishes were prepared with much care. For the prices it should have been first class. The wait staff were very nice but amateurish. There was something going on with the restaurant staff that I wasn’t able to catch. The restaurant itself is very attractive and if I ever go back which is doubtful the bar looked like a great place to have a drink.
Food was a little slow coming out of the kitchen this evening but our server made up for it by not charging us for dessert. The strawberry shortcake was delicious.
Great food and great time.
We really enjoyed our dinner here. Our friends were in town and we all had a great dinner. Both the food and service was great. My kids even wanted to give the waiter an extra tip just from them because they liked him so much.
Outstanding food and service. We can’t wait to return!
The ribeye is amazing. Can’t go wrong with it. Bonus on Thursday night’s 50% off most bourbons.
Food was excellent, as usual. They were down one server but I’m not sure how that affected the delay in getting our cocktails.
