Built in 1790 as a barn and named for local farmer John Kittle, the farm to table connection that began back then continues today at Crabtree's Kittle House. Internationally renowned for its Wine Spectator Grand Award wine list, superlative hospitality and contemporary American cuisine, it is a sophisticated country dining experience located only 45 minutes from Manhattan. Whether stopping in for a casual meal in the Tap Room or planning a formal intimate celebration from 2 to 200 guests, you'll find something for everyone and every occasion at Crabtree's Kittle House. The culinary team focuses on the local bounty of the Hudson Valley, from the casual Tap Room menu of salads, LaFrieda burgers & fresh cold shellfish to the more refined cuisine on the a la carte and Chef's Tasting menus, available in both the Tap Room & Dining Room. And nowhere is there a greater selection of fine wines (5000!) and other libations. Also a Bed & Breakfast, there are 13 rooms for overnight accommodations

I have been here several times and this was the first time service was very slow. There were two parties going on outside of the dining room so I believe we were an afterthought. However, the food was EXCELLENT, as always. I was there for a dinner about a month ago....16 people....and the services was very good.

Sunday afternoon with family. Yummy brunch. Cheerful & willing staff. Bright room. A large variety of options. Display was nice. Not grand or beautiful or creative but kept well and replenished often. Had to wait a little bit for our table but understood. A little annoyed because I tried to change reservation from 2 to 1:30, i wasn’t able to all week but when Sunday morning came around they all of the sudden had 1:30 open. Oh well. Would come back!!

Outstanding food and service. We really enjoyed our dinner, the beautiful dining room, and piano player in the background. The red quinoa and Caesar salads, gnocchi, eggplant Parmesan, and 'Kittle Kat' Chocolate Crunch Bar were excellent. Highly recommend!

We've been to Kittle House several times. We especially enjoy sitting in the more casual Tap Room instead of the formal dining room. We went Sunday night with friends who had never been there and although the food was up to the normal high standards, the service was awful. We were fed fairly quickly but then nobody stopped by again for over an hour or more to see if we needed anything, wanted another drink, etc. When we finally flagged someone down to order dessert and coffee, it took over 45 minutes to be served. We will return because we know this was an off night -- but if the service is as terrible again, we may cross it off of our list. Very disappointed.

VERY DISAPPOINTING!
Crabtree's Kittle House has been our go-to spot for family celebrations for years, but our recent visit has us rethinking that.
- Service was disorganized at best. Three servers asked for our drink order only to disappear; the one who did deliver the beverages spilled them and walked away leaving the mess. They neglected to clear away the dishes in between trips to the buffet.
- Food quality has gone seriously downhill. "Pastry" consists of bagels and muffins that are chopped in to smaller pieces. No gluten free options. The cuts of meat are of inferior quality; at least 50% connective tissue, gristle, and fat. It was borderline inedible.
- The kicker comes at the end when the bill arrives and you see they've added a 20% fee to the after-tax amount (party of 4). Adding twenty-percent for poor service and poor-quality food is unacceptable. (No wonder the servers could not care less!)
Thanks, Kittle House. You were good while it lasted...time to move on.

A great local upscale restaurant. Food is generally excellent and service is very professional. Noted for their wine selections if that is your bag.

The drinks and wine were delicious. The waiter gave us a great recommendation. The beets and buratta appetizer was delicious, as was the lobster bisque. Our main courses, the salmon and hangar steak were good too. Service was very slow.

It was an awful experience. The service was terrible. The waitress rang up our bill incorrectly three times. We had to ask for the appetizer. The pear martinis that were brought to the table tasted awful and sent back. The food was brought out cold. Very disappointed. We had been there last year for Mothers’s day and it was very good. This year it was awful. No value for the money. I would not recommend it.

We loved the intimacy along with conviviality of dining in a house-like environment (quiet residential area) along with many other couples, friends, and families. We thought the menu provided many options for pricey or for fiscal containment. Overall it was a good value. We also appreciated that they were generous with the wine—the glasses were big and not skimpily filled like in other restaurants we’ve been to.

We had an excellent meal. Service was excellent. They let you linger which is nice for us. Pretty room. Lovely views. Expensive. Big menu. A little noisy from catered event above but not obtrusive. It’s especially nice to be on a building from the 1700 s they have tried to maintain the historic look. I recommend it for its ambiance. It’s a relaxing night out. They do accommodate children. So bring them too.

Wonderful spot for a special occasion, but often, at places where big events take place, food is not a top priority. Unfortunately, that's the case at Crabtree. Nice atmosphere though. Also, service is on the slow side.

Always on top of their game. Beautiful presentation of roasted sliced beets with freshly made burrata. Then a Cinco de Mayo dinner of shrimp and salmon tacos with a tasty slaw. Finished with Kittle Krack pie! Freshly made margaritas to wash it all down!👍🏻👊🏻😁

We have been to the Crabtree Kittlehouse many times, and each time we have been disappointed by either the food or the service. This time the service was good, but the food was not what it should be for a restaurant of this calibre. The restaurant could be a gem, but there is always something missing here: menu choice, service , food. I think that management could use some outside help to make this a much better restaurant.

Food is dreadful, inedible, and over priced. For example, I ordered a side of fries (I love fries) and I couldn't eat them. Zero taste.
But the setting and the restaurant are beautiful. Good for a drink outdoors on the patio.
If you love wine, this is a great place. But save your money and only order wine and hors d'oeuvre. The wait staff is very good too.

A special place that feels like a vacation spot. Food is delicious and lovely from carefully-sourced local farms. I was surprised by the large number of gluten-free possibilities. We went for my husband's birthday and he said it felt like a real celebration being there. The staff is fun and polite, and the birthday song singing was great, too.
