Best suited for large families or groups - I was expecting more attention.
Everythung you would want in celebrating a special occassion.
Took my dad for his 75th birthday after not going for years. Everything was delicious, service was attentive and we will definitely be back.
Always terrific. I dine at the Kittle House often with clients but also with friends and/or family. They never disappoint. Food is always great and their wine list is probably one of the best in the country. For the wine aficionados, ask to be taken to their cellar and you'll see what I meant about their wines. Whether for personal or business, the Kittle House is the perfect location to enjoy a great culinary experience. Service is excellent and the managers are always around to make sure that everything one needs, one gets.
I don't think I've ever gone wrong at the Kittle House. The food is always good; interesting menu. Some of us had the prix fixe menu and enjoyed the hangar steak. Service was friendly and prompt. We were there in a Tuesday evening and there were many other diners there.
Good food, good service, and nice decor. But why oh why do restaurants insist on playing music? It just adds to the noise level. The dining room is a tranquil oasis which doesn’t need, and indeed is harmed by, the playing of piped-in music.
Went on a Saturday night believing that the tap room had a piano player every Saturday. Unfortunately, last .saturday there was a guitarist. We also ate in the tap room because we like the tap room menu, but were told that on Saturday nights, it's the same menu in the main restaurant and in the tap room. We're very disappointed.
Had a special dinner with friends. The food was very good, the piano player was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
The room we were in was freezing cold and although the staff were very aware that I was extremely uncomfortable, and yet there was no accommodation in reducing the a/c. This truly had a big impact on the entire experience. I would recommend the Kittle House because a lunch I had there a couple of months ago was extremely lovely and the service then was amazing, as was the food. This past Monday it felt entirely different.
I thought the food was good. with a variety of choices.
Therefore you are bound to find something that you like.
The only negative is the temperature of the food. I enjoy hot food, not luke warm. and I understand that there is often a challenge with maintaining food hot, and drying it out.
Taste wise, food was fresh, and mostly flavorful.
Wait staff, phenomenal.
I would most likely try again.
Food and service are the best. We’ve been here three times in the past month and will return often.
Took our friends out to dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and staff, and ability to hear each other’s conversation!
Another great Friday night in the tap room. Music, friendly service, Great drinks and enjoying new Chef Beau’s influence. Amazing crawfish etouffe
Having read so many fabulous reviews we couldn't wait to have a special lunch date on a beautiful Friday at this highly rated restaurant. The ride there and the setting was beautiful, but the restaurant is tired looking and in need of updating. The food was only fair, at best, and perhaps it was our choices. I ordered a three choice fish sampler for an appetizer which is supposed to be one of their highlights and the fish did not seem fresh enough. After that I had a mushroom frittata, which was nothing more than an omelete, and not a very good one at that! So disappointing. We could not imagine how this restaurant has gotten such consistently high grades, unless it is for the dinner menu. We will not go back to try.
The view and setting is lovely, but there are many better paces that have such lovely views.
Time to not rest on their laurels!
We love Crabtree Kittle House. However, for the July 4th BBQ party we didn't feel it was special enough. Especially, given the fact that our 8.30pm reservation was taken without any notes that we were going to be a part of BBQ party and what time the BBQ party was supposed to start. When we arrived, the seafood trays were gone and there were hardly any food left. It was our anniversary and we didn't really enjoy our experience as we usually would have enjoyed it.
Very poorly managed dining room . Inattentive waiter . Asked 3 x for some bread .Confusion at front desk . Very good food
We frequent Crabtree's Kittle House for fine dining very often. This occasion was for their July 4th buffet. They published their menu for the buffet and knowing the restaurant , we knew that the food would be excellent. Unfortunately, the menu was changed and many items were not available. We specifically saw items we wanted and were very disappointed when they were not served.
The items that were available were very good but the omissions were sorely missed.
The lack of fireworks was beyond their control so we didn't expect to see them.
We had been here before, and returned for the excellent food and tasting menu Food still was excellent, but the service was inattentive and extremely slow. Two large parties were going on, and the staff paid more attention to them, such that our meal took over 3 hours, with huge gaps of time between courses. For example, some of our food on the tasting menu was mis-identified. As the food was still excellent, would consider returning, but only on a weeknight when the staff would be less distracted. I was suprised to have such inattentive service in the setting of ordering a high end meal like the tasting menu.
We first enjoyed a cocktail at the bar while listening to the piano which was very nice. The food was very good. However, the service was not impressive at all. Our waitress disappeared for a while and did not check on us during our appetizers or entrees. Another staff member mistakenly brought us dessert menus after they cleared our appetizer dishes. There seemed to be a disconnect between waitstaff. We would expect better from an establishment that has been in business as long as Kittle House.
This is my favorite place. Great wine list. Excellent food. Excellent service. Beautiful location
Will not disapoint
Had read the breakfast menu and it looked very appetizing. Thinking that my wife and I would enjoy a fun Saturday breakfast and then head to the local farmer's market, we had to quickly revise our plans. Upon arriving at the Kittle House, we were surprised by the lack of cars in the parking lot - we thought for sure we were in the wrong place. However, we were at the right place - but wrong time. Walked into the restaurant and we were greeted by a drawn-curtain darkened restaurant with perhaps 4 people - quite elderly, having their breakfast each alone or in couples and a counter with covered food trays and the smell of toast. Our expectation was something akin to the Bedford Post - bright and upbeat, bustling with solid food prep. Sadly, we didn't stay long enough to order any food. Instead we enjoyed breakfast at the old Chappaqua railroad station restaurant. Perhaps the brunch and dinner have an entirely different ambience, but for breakfast on a Saturday - it was depressing.
It was my wife’s birthday and we celebrated it with our nephew and his girlfriend. Everyone enjoyed their dinner, the service was superb and the ambiance exceptional.
We dined at The Kittle House a few nights ago in celebration of our daughter's high school graduation. We held her Bat Mitzvah party there five years ago (which was so wonderful), and she has been asking to go back for a special occasion ever since. It was worth the wait! And thank you for making a special item which I requested for her! She LOVED the goat cheese croquette! How nice to feel so special at a restaurant - highly recommend for special occasions!
Delicious brunch! The vegetable quiche was to die for!
Exceptional, enjoyable, food and staff excellent, as usual. Our favorite spot.
Service was excellent. Food was very good.
I have been here several times and this was the first time service was very slow. There were two parties going on outside of the dining room so I believe we were an afterthought. However, the food was EXCELLENT, as always. I was there for a dinner about a month ago....16 people....and the services was very good.
Sunday afternoon with family. Yummy brunch. Cheerful & willing staff. Bright room. A large variety of options. Display was nice. Not grand or beautiful or creative but kept well and replenished often. Had to wait a little bit for our table but understood. A little annoyed because I tried to change reservation from 2 to 1:30, i wasn’t able to all week but when Sunday morning came around they all of the sudden had 1:30 open. Oh well. Would come back!!
We are always so pleased with the food and the staff there!
Thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambiance!!! Excellent choice.
Outstanding food and service. We really enjoyed our dinner, the beautiful dining room, and piano player in the background. The red quinoa and Caesar salads, gnocchi, eggplant Parmesan, and 'Kittle Kat' Chocolate Crunch Bar were excellent. Highly recommend!
We've been to Kittle House several times. We especially enjoy sitting in the more casual Tap Room instead of the formal dining room. We went Sunday night with friends who had never been there and although the food was up to the normal high standards, the service was awful. We were fed fairly quickly but then nobody stopped by again for over an hour or more to see if we needed anything, wanted another drink, etc. When we finally flagged someone down to order dessert and coffee, it took over 45 minutes to be served. We will return because we know this was an off night -- but if the service is as terrible again, we may cross it off of our list. Very disappointed.
Elmejor brunch de domingo del condado de Westchester
We were very disappointed with the tacos. They were ice cold.
Food here is consistently good. Glad they finally changed the menu a little. Eating the same things repeatedly gets old.
Crabtree's Kittle House has been our go-to spot for family celebrations for years, but our recent visit has us rethinking that.
- Service was disorganized at best. Three servers asked for our drink order only to disappear; the one who did deliver the beverages spilled them and walked away leaving the mess. They neglected to clear away the dishes in between trips to the buffet.
- Food quality has gone seriously downhill. "Pastry" consists of bagels and muffins that are chopped in to smaller pieces. No gluten free options. The cuts of meat are of inferior quality; at least 50% connective tissue, gristle, and fat. It was borderline inedible.
- The kicker comes at the end when the bill arrives and you see they've added a 20% fee to the after-tax amount (party of 4). Adding twenty-percent for poor service and poor-quality food is unacceptable. (No wonder the servers could not care less!)
Thanks, Kittle House. You were good while it lasted...time to move on.
A great local upscale restaurant. Food is generally excellent and service is very professional. Noted for their wine selections if that is your bag.
Great food and service. Never fails to disappoint.
The drinks and wine were delicious. The waiter gave us a great recommendation. The beets and buratta appetizer was delicious, as was the lobster bisque. Our main courses, the salmon and hangar steak were good too. Service was very slow.
