Yesterday my brother and I had a superb luncheon. The food was delicious, the ambiance first class as was the service. Couldn't have had a better venue for serious conversation without interference . Thank you. We'll be back.
We’ve eaten here a number of times and the experience has varied greatly. On an Oct 1 Monday it was very quiet and the service was attentive and pleasant. The food was outstanding.
When we’ve been there on busy nights the service is haphazard.
We had noted on our reservation on Open Table that we would be dining to celebrate our anniversary. When they brought out dessert they wrote happy anniversary on the plates and had candles. It was a nice touch to end a delicious meal.
Food really was not good and although the server was very pleasant the service was very slow and they did not have enough help. It took 3 hours to complete a simple dinner
Ambiance is historic and grand. The dinner was disappointing. Grill octopus cold and chewy. The duck was unfortunately gamey, grilled pear alongside it was a nice touch and fantastic. Hanger steak was a nice flavorable cut but some strange unknown green sauce masked the great steak flavor. Salad was divine. Excellent wine choices and some nice wines offered by the glass. Wait staff was very attentive and delivered superb service. The valet is extremely professional and organized. Runs a tight ship out front.
Fabulously attentive, helpful and welcoming staff and what looked like an intimate and warm ambiance in that bar (Tap Room). However, to be honest, the dinning room we were in (next to the bar) was white, brightly lit and chilly it just felt sparse, not like the dining that I was expecting. The food was fine but I also got no sense of it being particularly special.
Very nice experience. Went to celebrate my dads birthday. Service: the entire waitstaff was great. They were all very attentive and friendly. Ordered a bottle and the wine list can be overwhelming... the sommelier was great. Picked a outstanding Pinot noir. Thought I would order another bottle and he selected A few options based on my taste. We ended up just drinking the 1 bottle but the service was impeccable. Overall- I would return. And more importantly my family loved it.
Kittle House made sure they added 20% Gratuity on the bill for 5 people but, unfortunately, the wait staff was not attentive and one waiter started out pleasant but soon acted annoyed. They served warm water in our glasses and never came around with the coffee unless we got their attention. They were slow to clear the finished plates.
Also, I have to say that I was very disappointed with the choice of deserts and that they were not served so we could help ourselves like the lunch food. 4 out of 5 people ordered the Apple Crumb and apparently they did not have enough so instead of advising us they presented us with literally one folk spoon and a dab of Vanilla Gelato, several of us complained and ordered a 2nd desert which they were a bit annoyed by but I don't care, what they did was unacceptable.
It will be a while before returning.
Loved the food! Always great
Very simply elegant ambiance in lovely setting - plenty of space between tables and guitarist playing audibly from the adjoining bar- enjoyed everything we ordered (Kittle House salad, cavatelli bolognese, duck breast) and the desserts were delicious... definitely splurge if even for just a taste.
The one miss we found was with the level of sophistication the waitstaff had in terms of familiarity and ability to sell the menu- this should be corrected through training and to ensure there is better understand of how/what the chef is creating .
That will elevate a good experience to a great one
Made a reservation to weeks in advance. Advised him it was our anniversary. Upon entering the restaurant they probably status in a corner table, right next to us Was a family of four with two young boys. Not where we wanted to be on a Saturday night at 7 o’clock on our anniversary. When we asked to move to another table they told us that table was already reserved for someone. When we insisted we’re not sitting at the table they put us at, they finally found us another table. Not a good way to start the evening, especially since it was my first time there. The drinks were awesome. The food was OK. The lights were bright. Overall, just OK. Not bad but certainly not great
Trout was overcooked and pasta dish was nice but not outstanding. For these prices, expected better.
Service was fine
Everyone charming and attentive
This is the perfect old tavern/inn feel. It is beautifully tucked away within a lovely neighborhood. The food is outstanding and the service is equal. It’s a must.
Tasting menu never disappoints. Waitress (Chris) was great. Entertaining to watch the chairs being moved up and down the stairs (should do that before diners arrive).
Smoked fish appetizer was really bad--quenelle was 'off'. other food ok but mediocre.
The staff were fantastic, and helped make our experience wonderful
We’ve had dinner many times. Restaurant never fails. Service is always great. Only complaint was floral arrangement needed fresh flowers
Crabtree's Kittle House just mat be the most charming restaurant in Westchester. It is like dining in an upscale private club. The main dining room overlooks beautiful scenery. The room itself exudes old-fashioned charm. The menu, however, is a mix of classic and modern. The three course dinner is a very good value. The service was friendly and helpful.
It was my birthday. We hadn't been to the Kittle House in a while but heard that they had a new chef & a revamped menu of locally sourced food so we decided to give it a try. We found it disappointing. The house salad had many local ingredients. My husband liked it better than I did. I had the duck which was as chewy as a tough steak. (Again a disagreement with my husband who liked mine better than his.) I liked his venison which needed the mole sauce to liven it up. (He doesn't especially like mole.) The "gift" chocolate dessert came in a very cute gift-looking dough but the dough was very tasteless as well. The service was pretty good except for the wine steward. He said the house wine was unavailable & he would bring us something comparable. Then he disappeared for 20 minutes or so until finally coming back with the bottle. Looks like it will be a while before we get back to the Kittle House again, especially considering the prices.
This place was not as busy as the previous times we visited, so it was much nicer; the buffet was more reachable, less wait, etc. Very good buffet brunch. Great smoked salmon, cooked shrimps, selection of meats, etc… All personnel behind the buffet and in the main dining room were professional & attentive. One recommendation would be to have wines by the bottles more conveniently located as it took a long time to get our bottle. My only negative comment would be with management including in the check a 20% gratuity (and this is a buffet!) calculated on the total food/beverages / taxes, which in fact is more than 20%. I understand management including tips for a large party, but we were only two and I like to decide the amount of tips.
Crabtree’s Kittle House gives one the dining experience of an exclusive private dining club. The food was excellent and the service treated us like VIPs!
Always a great experience
Usually this place is great, not tonight. Service was very slow. Food was fair at best. Usually they come around with a selection of breads. Tonight only one kind and the basket was empty, had to ask for more and they came with an empty basket again. I ordered the Prix Fix. Appetizer choices vegan soup, Caesar salad or red quinoa salad. I got the red quinoa. It looked great but was totally tastless. For my main course I ordered southern fried chicken thigh BLT. What I got was another bowl of salad with a few pieces of boneless thigh. The chicken was ok but I didn't touch the salad as I already had salad. My wife chose the Caesar salad and skate cod. Better choice but nothing special. After waiting way too long getting food and nobody checking on us throughout the meal, it was a very disappointing night. If this would have been my first time there I would not recommend but I am hoping they just had an off night.
Food was quite good. Staff was very attentive. High marks for them. The House made gelato was the best I’ve had this side of the Atlantic. It rivals Berthillion on the isle St. Louis in Paris. Only complaint was the automatic 20% tip added to the bill. This was a buffet. we got up to get our own food. I was not served. I leave 20% as a rule when I am served but never when I am at a buffet. They crossed a line there.
Lovely, innovative food; terrific service; stunning room with gorgeous view.
Always pleases....We had our daughter's wedding at Crabtree's Kittlehouse
Food mediocre at best
We ate in the Tap Room. When we arrived, they were just clearing a cocktail hour from a wedding, so we had to wait about 10 minutes at the bar. It was a bit chaotic, but thankfully the staff setup the room quickly. The room was rather hot though which was a negative. Other than that, everything was great. Food was delicious, good service, great guitarist, and we had an enjoyable and relaxing dining experience. We absolutely prefer the taproom ambiance to the main dining room here.
My father is a vegetarian (I'm not) and we were very pleased to see so many interesting options on the menu, but also all the specials happened to be vegetarian that evening as well, offering more of a selection. Basic pastas and salad can become very boring if those are your only entree options when you are out to eat. And who wants just a plate of side vegetables for a special meal. My point; It's always appreciated to have other delicious and creative options to dine on and we look forward to seeing even more! Everything was so fresh too. Not to mention the entertainment was excellent! Jon Cobert is a wonderful entertainer! Will definitely be back!
Grilled Shrimp tacos and salad were great. Waiter was wonderful.
Best suited for large families or groups - I was expecting more attention.
Beautiful restaurant, great food and service. Reasonable prices.
Everythung you would want in celebrating a special occassion.
Took my dad for his 75th birthday after not going for years. Everything was delicious, service was attentive and we will definitely be back.
Always terrific. I dine at the Kittle House often with clients but also with friends and/or family. They never disappoint. Food is always great and their wine list is probably one of the best in the country. For the wine aficionados, ask to be taken to their cellar and you'll see what I meant about their wines. Whether for personal or business, the Kittle House is the perfect location to enjoy a great culinary experience. Service is excellent and the managers are always around to make sure that everything one needs, one gets.
I don't think I've ever gone wrong at the Kittle House. The food is always good; interesting menu. Some of us had the prix fixe menu and enjoyed the hangar steak. Service was friendly and prompt. We were there in a Tuesday evening and there were many other diners there.
Good food, good service, and nice decor. But why oh why do restaurants insist on playing music? It just adds to the noise level. The dining room is a tranquil oasis which doesn’t need, and indeed is harmed by, the playing of piped-in music.
Went on a Saturday night believing that the tap room had a piano player every Saturday. Unfortunately, last .saturday there was a guitarist. We also ate in the tap room because we like the tap room menu, but were told that on Saturday nights, it's the same menu in the main restaurant and in the tap room. We're very disappointed.
Had a special dinner with friends. The food was very good, the piano player was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
The room we were in was freezing cold and although the staff were very aware that I was extremely uncomfortable, and yet there was no accommodation in reducing the a/c. This truly had a big impact on the entire experience. I would recommend the Kittle House because a lunch I had there a couple of months ago was extremely lovely and the service then was amazing, as was the food. This past Monday it felt entirely different.
