Crab House at Pier 39 Ratings and Reviews
Let me start by saying you couldn't find better buttery roasted crab anywhere, the Crab Feast is our family favorite! It comes on a sizzling elevated platter, fresh crab roasted to perfection. We order extra butter caper sauce on the side for dipping, it is beyond delicious. We always start with their Caesar salad, big enough for 2 to share. This particular evening we dined was on Valentine's day and it was not very full or very loud, when the restaurant is full it can be quite lively and loud. But you get a great view, they validate parking (only 1 hour) and our server was excellent, in fact all staff were attentive, friendly and constantly clearing which was much appreciated. Pricey with drinks as would be expected at the Pier but you are getting a great dining experience. Make a reservation, they can have a line out the door. We have been coming here for years, they have crab shells, all dressed or styled differently on the walls and hanging from the ceiling, a fun decor touch to a traditional San Francisco atmosphere.
Food was great as usual, but thr service wasn’t. We were never checked on and we had to get up to ask for whatever from the bar (our waiter all of a sudden turned into the bartender) I left a good tip just bc that is the type of person I am, but it definitely wasn’t deserved. You guys charge a pretty penny for food, and the food is worth it. Just match the service. I’ll recommend for food but will definitely tell of our experience with the service. It was also Valentines day. That put a little damper on it.
An experience, unfortunately we have had our tastebuds spoilt by the seafood we get in Guernsey in the Channel Islands. This is the first Resturant of this type in this area so have able to make a comparison, however, we would recommend it as and experience if a touch on the expensive side.
Excellent as always. It was very busy but we had a reservation and were able to be seated early. The food arrived quickly, arrived hot, and as always the crab was delicious! It’s definitely pricey but for a once in a while crab feast it’s hard to beat Crab House.
The cioppino was amazing. The crab legs were ok and the shrimp and chips reminded us of expensive bar food. We were sitting down at our table for about 10 minutes before being helped. There was about 5 other patrons in our area who were getting served by different waiters or waitresses who were being helped. Our waitress was rarely around while everyone elses was standing to the side waiting to be called when needed. It was a our first time here and also our last.
Took a girlfriend for her birthday and for a first time visit I was very disappointed. I’ve been here many times with family and friends and love the food and good service. But unfortunately I was thoroughly disappointed on this visit with service from Marcelo. He took our order then never offered to bring us water and bread while we wait for our drinks and food. I had to wave him down as our drinks were being delivered. Then after our food was delivered he was no where to be found and I asked for crab forks from another server.. finally got a hold of him after asking for someone to find him cause the other server wasn’t bringing us forks.
Marcelo never checked back on us. He could have sold us more drinks but I was tired of waiting for him to check on us so just asked for the check..
while I’m sure I’ll visit again cause this is not the type of service I’ve ever had there, but I will certainly pay attention to who is serving. Which is sad.
Everything about the food and restaurant was fantastic. We were surprised at the prices. Open Table has them listed with $$ (entrees $30 and under). The only entrees with crab for under $30 were the crab enchiladas, crab chowder and crab fettuccini. Pasta, chicken and a couple others were also under $30. However, the primary crab centered dishes begin at $31 and go up from there. Good food, good service ... surprised by the price due to Open-Table’s listing of $$.
We had a fab view of the Golden Gate Bridge. The crabs are so delicious with garlics and herbs. The sea food soup is beautiful too. The service is outstanding with skilled and friendly waiters. It’s an expensive lunch but worth the experience. Love everything about the place.
