Crab House at Pier 39 Ratings and Reviews
The cioppino was amazing. The crab legs were ok and the shrimp and chips reminded us of expensive bar food. We were sitting down at our table for about 10 minutes before being helped. There was about 5 other patrons in our area who were getting served by different waiters or waitresses who were being helped. Our waitress was rarely around while everyone elses was standing to the side waiting to be called when needed. It was a our first time here and also our last.
Took a girlfriend for her birthday and for a first time visit I was very disappointed. I’ve been here many times with family and friends and love the food and good service. But unfortunately I was thoroughly disappointed on this visit with service from Marcelo. He took our order then never offered to bring us water and bread while we wait for our drinks and food. I had to wave him down as our drinks were being delivered. Then after our food was delivered he was no where to be found and I asked for crab forks from another server.. finally got a hold of him after asking for someone to find him cause the other server wasn’t bringing us forks.
Marcelo never checked back on us. He could have sold us more drinks but I was tired of waiting for him to check on us so just asked for the check..
while I’m sure I’ll visit again cause this is not the type of service I’ve ever had there, but I will certainly pay attention to who is serving. Which is sad.
Everything about the food and restaurant was fantastic. We were surprised at the prices. Open Table has them listed with $$ (entrees $30 and under). The only entrees with crab for under $30 were the crab enchiladas, crab chowder and crab fettuccini. Pasta, chicken and a couple others were also under $30. However, the primary crab centered dishes begin at $31 and go up from there. Good food, good service ... surprised by the price due to Open-Table’s listing of $$.
We had a fab view of the Golden Gate Bridge. The crabs are so delicious with garlics and herbs. The sea food soup is beautiful too. The service is outstanding with skilled and friendly waiters. It’s an expensive lunch but worth the experience. Love everything about the place.
This is the BEST crab 🦀 we have ever had.!i live in AZ and come to San Francisco each December for Christmas shopping. Crab House at Pier 39 is top on my list of places to eat at when I visit SF. A must dining experience. People are friendly and the food is great.
We brought my husband's uncle out to Crab House since he was our guest to the Bay Area for the week. It did not seem to be too busy and we were seated right away after checking in for our reservation. The floor under our table was filthy with left over shell pieces and a plastic bib. I asked for a high chair but no one got us one. I got it myself.
Fabrizio’s service was severely subpar this visit. I ordered mussels and shrimp for our guest, a cup of crab chowder and lasagna for my husband, kids pasta for my son, and 1/2 killer crab for myself. Fabrizio recommended getting the combo mussels, shrimp, and crab to save money. I was totally fine with getting the separate orders to get my own designated crab portion but since he suggested it, I went with it.
During the time we waited for our meal and water refills, a party of 4 adults were seated at a neighboring table to us and was more attentively served with refills and their food. A bus person/food runner was able to help us with water, more lemons, and another iced tea for our guest.
Once everyone was done with their meal, we waited to be asked if we needed boxes and the check. No one came by although the table of 4 got their check and boxes during the time we waited. That table is adjacent to ours that I even had to protect my son's head as that party's crab enchiladas were brought out! I felt ignored because Fabrizio just passed our table without acknowledgement after helping them a few times. Ultimately, I had to hunt him down to ask for two boxes and the check.
The food runner/bus boy who helped us with water and boxes could have been a better waiter. I feel so discriminated against because Fabrizio gave the other party more attention for whatever reason.
