What a great meal we had! Our out-of-town guests were impressed. It helped that we had a table by the window with an absolutely gorgeous view. Service was perfect. Thank you all for a dinner to remember!

My brother and his wife were visiting from Florida and we treated them to dinner here. It couldn't have been a better choice! Food was great, we didn't feel rushed, and the service was excellent. Only minor disappointment is that they ignored the note about celebrating a birthday, but that didn't detract from the overall enjoyment of the dinner.

It was our anniversary and they were nice enough to treat us to a glass of champagne each. It was very sweet champagne. My wife and I really aren’t champagne drinkers. It would be much better to offer us a cocktail of our choosing, or a dessert. Anyway, bread came late to the table, it was dense and clearly not fresh or locally baked. No salt or pepper was on the table. We had to ask for seasonings. What really lost me to the Crab Catcher, however, were our appetizers: Caeser Salad under-dressed (and no anchovy option at a seafood restaurant!) with room temperature lettuce and a half dozen oysters on the half shell, inexplicably also basically at room temperature. Plate was not iced or chilled, either. From there on it really didn’t matter what they served me, I already knew I was not going to return to this restaurant. My cioppino was good. Nice chunks of fish well prepared. There was salmon in the dish hat was good. Slightly overlooked and small but tasty mussels and nice clams. They add one small king crab leg as well. My wife had mussels with fettuccine that was good also, again the mussels small and a bit over cooked. We weren’t offered an anniversary dessert (I guess whether you are a champagne drinker or not, that is what your anniversary gift is there) and elected not to try a dessert. We had a good cappuccino, paid our bill and left, with no plans to return. With George’s a block away, take the short walk and definitely go there instead.

Went for my wife's birthday. We love the Crab Catcher, it was where we had our second date. This time our server seemed bothered by having to come by and check on us. We requested drinks with our meals and then the drinks never came. Saw lots of people coming for anniversaries and birthday's and their servers bringing them special cake.... well... no such service for us. We will go back but will have nothing to do with that alfonzo. So disappointing.

It was our first time. I planned an elaborate staycation for my Husband. It was an early anniversary gift. Ambiance and food were amazing. The service was impeccable - the server was with bread and replaced the gas tank for the outdoor heater in an instant.

Will recommend.

We won’t come back! Absolutely touristic where the food and creativity don’t matter. In the table next to us the fish with crab stuff was frozen! Our crab bisque was nothing more than a Campbell Soup with crab added. Only good thing in the night was the wine that I brought.

Hugely disappointed. Hostess had no clue. Food choices minimal. Seated at furthest corner by kitchen after requesting window seat with reservations and waiting an additional 40 minutes. Server was slow and not accommodating.

Good overall experience. It faces the La Jolla Cove with a great view. The restaurant is a bit dated and needs some love but the food and service made up for it.

I was hoping for a 'view', dining alone on business travel, and made reservations with the request. I was seated at a table without a view, instead of being asked if I'd like to wait for just a few minutes to accommodate (several guests were leaving and only 2 of the 6 tables around me with a view were seated, the rest remained open). I even asked the host for a better view but was not asked if I wanted to wait for a table to be cleared. Instead I was seated in the corner with walls covered in mirrors.

The waitress was not very helpful when I asked her for recommendations, mentioning I had never been to the restaurant before. I decided to stick with something traditional and ordered the lobster, thinking it would be great on the coast at a seafood restaurant. Guessed wrong - the lobster was way overcooked and extremely rubbery and tough. I also ordered a side of beets and those were good.

For dessert I ordered tiramisu - the worst I've ever had and tasted nothing like tiramisu should taste. There was no flavor of espresso/coffee/chocolate/brandy at all - it was like they opened a package of lady fingers and smeared some type of vanilla cream on it.

Way over priced and basically a tourist trap.

It was all excellent starting out with a beautiful table for two looking over the ocean then delicious dozen oysters cold then on to some of the best calamari ever, finishing with the amazing pasta with clams.
My husband was given a delicious macadamia ice cream pie for dessert the best! We also had two delicious glasses of wine thank you very much crab catcher👄

My husband and I were very much looking forward to a brunch at the Crab Catcher with a Groupon I had purchased. While our table provided us with a beautiful ocean view and our server was attentive initially the food was a big dissapointment. We started with the crab stuffed mushrooms which were just okay. The crabmeat did not taste fresh but the carmalized onions were very good. We both ordered the crab omelettes and they were extremely overcooked. At this point the restaurant became very busy and we couldn't get our server's attention to send our meals back. We decided to just enjoy the view, sip our champagne, and plan on eating at another oceanfront restaurant next time.

We had my brother visiting from out of town and had a wonderful dinner at Crab Catcher. The service was excellent and I had the crab cake and I think it is one of the best in San Diego. We had a view table which was very nice as well. Because it was Friday night, the noise level was quite tolerable.
