Vacation....it was so good...
Lobster was tough, clam chowder was average. The service was outstanding but does not compensate for the prices. There are better places in the San Diego to spend your money.
Truly fine dinner with excellent service from our server, Kristin. We were seated in a delightful, somewhat secluded alcove overlooking the Cove. My roasted oysters appetizer with spinach and Parmesan were some of the best that I’ve ever enjoyed. I followed that with a tasty cioppino chock full of seafood while my wife really liked her crab-stuffed Mahi-Mahi. We ended by splitting a delicious piece of Key Lime pie that was almost chiffon-like. We’ve been to Crab Catcher before and will be back.
The host ignored us while I stood at the counter in front of him, looked straight at the next couple and tried to help them instead of asking us if we were next, our actual waiter didn't come back to take our entree order just took our drinks and appetizer and I had to wave him down to get our entree order put in. The food itself which I ordered spaghetti with clams was ok, my husband ordered the fish and chips which we both agree we have had better. Had the groupon voucher otherwise wouldn't be eating there.
Over priced
It was our anniversary, and they were kind enough to give us each a glass of champagne. Dinner was great.
I had asked for the best table with an ocean view as I was celebrating my birthday with friends. That's exactly what we got. The best table in the restaurant! Along with delicious food and great service.
We were in San Diego area for a short respite from the winter weather of Michigan. Valentines Day came up in the middle of our visit and I found the Crab Catcher on line. It sounded perfect and did not disappoint! Service was excellent, the menu with tempting choices and the presentation and taste as good or better than described. It was a bit cramped since they added extra tables to accommodate for the holiday but it was very conducive nonetheless. The location is overlooking the LaJolla Cove. Even a small view out of a portion of a window at night helps set the mood. Yes, it was pricey but worth it!
I have been going to this restaurant for close to 20 years. This time was not very pleasurable. The food was poorly prepared, and the seafood seemed old, not fresh. In addition the service was extremely slow and little things, like pouring wine was lacking. The entire experience would lead me not to ever go here again.
Host was welcoming and pushed my reservation back 30 minutes with no hesitation. Got seated at the perfect table for two, with my girlfriend. Thankfully, they have great clam chowder which she loved. Filet Mignon is great! Would absolutely recommend for a business outing, romantic occasion, and great view and atmosphere, even at night. Well worth every penny!
Beautiful view of the ocean. Amazing small plates, ordered one of each!
Great experience and great views ...thanks to the maitre d’/host who seated us in a table with a great view and to Pablo who waited on us. ....will be back
Chris was our waiter & could not have been nicer... the food (especially the crab legs) & ambiance was great! We will definitely be back! :)
Had a great meal. Celebrated my birthday. Food was good, service was great (waiter was very attentive and provided great service). At the end they served me a complimentary dessert with lit candle. Nice touch.
Excellent service and food we had the seafood special for two which was delicious.
Crab legs were outstanding as was claim chowder. Service was top notch !
The preparation of the seafood was unique to this Resturant, although citrus flavor in pasta with clam sauce was not good
And the steamed lobster also was prepared oddly.

Esquicito comida buenísima! Excelente Restaurant
Estupenda vista y maravilloso servicio, altamente recomendable 👌🏻👌🏻
Good food, good service. Drinks are extremely overpriced. Eat here, go get drinks elsewhere after.
Good food, great view, wonderful attentive helpful staff.
Muy caro en proporción a lo que se sirve. No nos gustaron los tacos. Si estaban muy ricos los tacos de cebiche. Muy bien la atención.
Crab Catcher is a La Jolla fav! Great view, yummy food, excellent service, I always ask for Carmen!
We went on a rainy Tuesday evening to celebrate our kids’ birthday. They gave us a beautiful spot next to the big window and the service was excellent as was the food.
I think these are the best crab legs in town. With the best service, and a great view. Truthfully. They serve only the red King Crab legs. 1.25 lbs, not the usual 1 lb. More crab than I could eat. On a bed of delightfully flavored greens and corn medley which is special in itself. Red King Crab legs in my extensive experience are much much easier to open for sure, perhaps a bit sweeter than the regular King Crab legs. They supply all the usual tools but I snuck in a "Stolen from Joes Crab shack" plastic crab leg tool that really works especially great on these red king crab legs. We frequently do Sunday Bruch there. This was one of them. They have both Saturday and Sunday Brunch which is a great plus. Varied brunch menu, not just crab focused. The wait staff was especially attentive with refill of water, rolls, butter. $10 bottle of Sparkling wine Opera Prima which was great. My family loved their crab cakes and Eggs Benedict. I had a dinner sized Caesar salad which was excellent. Have been coming here for years
As always the food & service were great! A must do any time we are in La Jolla
My husband and I have been going to Crab Catcher for years. We love to go for lunch as the views of the ocean, kayakers and sea lions are amazing. The food and service are always fabulous.
Romantic, great service, good view, great food. We like to come for our anniversaries.
It was excellent!! We'll be back. It was NYE, so of course it was a tad noisy. It was almost perfect. My daughter's spaghetti didn't get packed and she likes to eat her leftovers.
This was a great place for New Year’s Eve dinner with my wife. The service and food are superb!!
Great food. The service was good. We made a reservation and got a seat right by the window, overlooking the cove, which was awesome. Would recommend.
We were there for NYE and it was wonderful. Reservation was honored on time, we were not rushed thru dinner. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone !
The atmosphere was so inviting and the food was outstanding!
New Year’s Eve dinner
Nice - great table!
This is a nice restaurant and a nice location. The service was good and the food wasn't bad. For the price I was expecting it to be better though. Not sure I see the value here.
It was my birthday so I ordered the lobster, sadly the claws were very under cooked and because I had eaten the tail they just brought 2 very overcooked claws.
Also there are only 3 toilets available for women, one was piled to the top and clogged, the other didn't have any toilet paper or seat covers and the other was handicap.
The whole experience was very disappointing.
Food was amazing, as usual. View is fabulous , one of our favorite restrauants in La Jolla, we take family there for special occasions, or just ourselves for a nice lunch or really good dinner. Kind of pricy but you get what you pay for, great food, gorgeous view, impeccable service, and did I mention delicious food?
Came in Saturday evening at 5:30. Had a reservation but still had a to wait a fair amount of time with numerous tables open. They put us on the outside deck with heat lamps and at the window table however the tables were packed in and you lost the ambiance as you sat almost elbow to elbow. Seemed odd for a restaurant like that. Food was good but not great. I will say my wife loved the Salmon. Definitely a great view but this experience wasn't as good as the time before for us.
Surprised by the fair service. We ordered crab legs$$ and they arrived cool and not split. The entire meal from beverage service to meal service was slow and clumsy. We had a reservation and our table was not special or by a window. The restaurant was not busy but put at a small 2 topper table that was too small for the lovely food we ordered. I was disappointed. This has been my happy place for so many years to celebrate and enjoy marvelous food. Not this time.
