Coyote Cafe continues to be Santa Fe's ICONIC restaurant, established in 1987, Coyote Café is recognized as the restaurant that brought modern southwestern cuisine to the country.
Must-have dishes include Foie Gras & Diver Scallop, Futomaki Caesar Salad and the legendary 24-ounce "Cowboy Cut" Ribeye, a nod to our Southwestern legacy. Contemporary favorites also include Peppery Elk Tenderloin, Mesquite Grilled Lobster Tails, Hawaiian Tuna Poke and of course, Green Chile Mac 'n Cheese.

There are public lots available one block east (at Shelby street, past the restaurant)) and one block west (between Sandoval and Galisteo Streets) of Coyote Cafe on West Water Street (before the restaurant - often requires you to enter on San Francisco Street, parallel to to Water Street).
Meters are free after 6 p.m.

Every time I come to Santa Fe the first, and sometimes only place, I go is coyote Café !
I was pleasantly surprised to see that the dining room was completely remodeled. After talking to the owner and the very knowledgeable staff about the remodel, it is clear this legendary spot will continue to evolve and flourish.
The remodel was accompanied by some changes to the menu ...which were totally awesome! over the last two days/nights I’ve been there three times. (Lunch at the cantina-Also remodeled and open in winter...nice!
keep up the amazing work and see you again soon for my/our next visit.
Our dinners were perfect. We were 2 couples . My friend and i both had our Birthdays the day we were there and as soon as we were seated the waiter brought us 4 complimentary glasses of champagne. We ordered a really good bottle of Pinot Noir and they brought us a little skillet of fabulous cornbread, then a shot of blackbean tortilla soup. My husband and I ordered the elk tenderloin which was so tender and tasty. Our friends had the duck confit and the eggplant dish. They both raved about their meals. The service was excellent . Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. We all had some leftovers which they boxed up for us. When we walked over to the plaza we saw some homeless people on the sidewalk and gave them our boxes. They seemed to be so grateful. A gourmet dinner. That was like our dessert.
Absolutely outstanding! Coyote Cafe just reopened a few days ago after an extensive remodel of both the restaurant and the rooftop bar, and Quinn made an already great place spectacular. The service has always been phenomenal and the food innovative and delicious, and the update to the “physical plant” just makes Coyote even better. Best elk tenderloin in town, and the innovation that goes into every dish makes everything special. Their take on a Caesar salad is a great example of this. Great place for special occasions with out of town guests, as this a great example of why Santa Fe is such a wonderful restaurant town.
We visited as part of our extended anniversary celebration in Sante Fe. Everything was extraordinary. The owner, Quinn, is unusually attentive and the service is impeccable. The level of attention is accompanied by a warm, yet not overly familiar, style. Our server, Paris, was knowledgable, warm, funny and made the evening quite special.
The recently redone decor is elegant and spacious. How many restaurants have a Chihuly chandelier? This was does, and it is worth the price just to eat by its glow.
The food is exquisitely prepared and presented. My elk (who knew?) was superb, with great wine pairing recommendations.
I could go on, but it is fair to claim world class status for the Coyote Cafe. It's not for bargain hunters, but if I pay these prices, I want this kind of experience.
New look to the space is sharp and contemporary. The service is amazing as always. The menu has flexed some to incorporate more Mexican influence in the appetizers specifically (chicharron, taquitos and tostadas). Many of the standards are on the menu still. A frequent spot on our dining list.
We had not been to the Coyote for several years, and now I don't know why the grilled lobster was spectacular, both in presentation and flavor. The elk was beautiful and tasty. And the deserts were over the top good. Coyote Cafe combines fine dining with a fun atmosphere. It's nice to be able to enjoy a fabulous meal at a place that doesn't take themselves to seriously.

We were excited to try the “new & improved” Coyote since it has been one of our local favorites for special occasions, or even just date night. The new remodel was a disappointing attempt at SW modern - a little cold and generic. And even though it is still much of the same staff, the service was extra slow and the food was just ‘okay’.
Needless to say we still want to love our favorite place for a great drink and steak, but it was a lackluster experience overall. Coyote has great owners and potential. Surely next time will be much better!
Coyote Cafe always delivers great food and impeccable service. It’s menu is diverse and delicious, and it’s a comfortable yet “fancy” night out on the town. We enjoy sitting at the chef’s counter and watching the meal prep. It’s like your own private food network show :)
We are locals to the food scene in Santa Fe and were very disappointed after the refresh that just took place. Service and the wait staff was at the same high level of quality and service, but the management and kitchen regretfully fell down completely. It took over 30 minutes to get our firsts out and the main took another 55 minutes to arrive and the rabbit arrived overcooked. We did not continue to desert since the we were over 2 hours for two courses and had lost patience. Our waiter was totally responsive and after 30 minutes waiting for the entrees began to escalate and communicate on what became a 55 minutes delay between courses. What is disappointing is management did not attempt to come over or communicate what the issues were at anytime during our dinner. We will try again, but short term regretfully the restaurant is not in our top 5 anymore for my business clients and friends that come into town.
I found out after I arrived that Coyote had been closed for renovations for several weeks, and the night I dined was their grand reopening. The decor was stunning, the service was impeccable, and their house-made cornbread, mesquite grilled lobster tail dish, and asparagus were all absolutely perfect. Highly recommend!
As always Coyote Cafe is outstanding. Impecable service, great food and perfect ambiance for any ocacion and even with kids. Last night we spent New Years eve and our table of 10 was the last one to leave and we were attended to the last minute as gracefully as we were when we arrived. Been going there for years and always taking friends and family, it is highly recomended.
The problem for Coyote Cafe is folks (like me) who dined there when Mark Miller was large and in charge expect that same level of attention to all aspect of the dining experience and it's just not there. It's not bad but at their current price point it's a bit of a disappointment. The beef tartar appetizer at $24 was not worth $24. The price point of $40 plus for 99% of the entrees is off the mark. Service is very good. The physical plant is very nice. I admit to being a tough grader - they are trying and it's a strong A minus/B plus but it's just not as good as it once was.
We've been to Coyote Cafe 20 years ago and were quite amazed that the food and service remained excellent. Their cocktails are excellent and the food outstanding. The service professional and friendly - striking just the right note. Great for special occasions as well as just a good night out.
Climb up one flight from the sidewalk to this lively, sexy, energetic restaurant and bar. The menu was super creative, yet offered something wonderful and tasty for the vegetarian, the pescatarian, the no-carber, the carnivore, etc. in our group. And a very good time was had by all.
We were greeted warmly and the service was attentive and gracious throughout the meal, even though the place was packed on a holiday week.
It had been a long time since I visited Coyote Cafe and they have only become a better restaurant in that time. While I find the seating to be cramped and the space hard to move around, I cannot detract a single thing from the experience of what matters: the food and drink. We started with their version of Manhattans, and a seasonal vodka martini with cranberries. The drinks were fantastic. The wine list was very broad. I judge their markup to be a bit more than most other fine dining restaurants, which is frustrating. But we cannot complain about their options. We settled on a nice Cote du Rhone. Two of us had the deconstructed raviolis, one person had the seafood and another had the tenderloins. Each of us LOVED our meals. I'd rate the food itself to be the finest meal I've had in the last couple of months and I eat out weekly. The service was a bit overly-attentive but absolutely friendly and knowledgable of the menu. I know that Santa Fe has many great dining options. I also know Coyote Cafe has been around a while and might be overlooked because of that. But please, do not make that mistake. Coyote Cafe remains the highlight of my last two trips to New Mexico. My compliments to the chef.
