Great service and food. The short ribs were delicious. My wife is a celiac and they fixed her up with a nice salmon dish.
The Stetson Salad has been superb since the restaurant opened, my favorite. Good for my friend who eats fish but not anything from an animal that walks. Noise level is moderate by usual standards. I enjoy quiet conversation with my dining partners, but this is essentially a lost form in dining unless one goes to a grand resort restaurant.
The wine list, Wine Spectator, is as good as it gets!!!!!
Average at very best. Cobb salad was amazing, the short rib entree and the swordfish were underwhelming. The short rib pastrami style had decent flavor but was forgettable. The mashed potatoes it was resting on conflicted with the flavor. The Brussels sprouts were ok, nothing worth raving about.
The dessert was basically a peanut butter cup with butter finger sprinkled over it - I think it was a banana ice cream with it - 2 bites was plenty. Good flavor, not something I would go back to.
Overall save the hype and go anywhere else.
We had the chopped salad and it was the best, best, best salad I have ever had.
Maybe just ordered the wrong dishes but the chopped salad, as always, was excellent - the other dishes were average at best.
Great place! Our waiter was excellent! Only complaint was food wasn’t hot enough.
Love this place, because it’s always consistent. Food is unique and flavorful. Ambience is always energetic... not necessarily loud, but energetic with a noticeable tempo.
My friend had the filet (awesome), I had the pork chop (very good). We shared a Stetson chopped salad (must have), and the salted sourdough chocolate bread pudding (schwing!) Coffee was fabulous.
Service was extremely pleasant and accurate.
Not necessarily a “romantic” place, or a good venue for a quite dinner, but fabulous people watching and always a unique experience.
Fantastic find. Great atmosphere and would definitely return. Our server provided some excellent pointers and we enjoyed pretty much everything. The chopped salad was exceptional, as were our desserts. My wife had the short ribs while I had the wild boar. I wouldn’t order the wild boar the next time I return, but would absolutely order the short ribs, as they were excellent.
Excellent food, wonderfully prepared. Top notch service. This place is a new favorite. Yum!
Food was just ok. Wait staff seemed in a hurry, not helpful. Drinks were strange—then we were offered an off brand as a replacement
Drove from Prince George VA to try the chopped salad featured on some network show. Was totally thrilled with the “event” would come back again if I found myself back in your neck of the woods. Server from Charleston has got it going on too. Thanks for making it totally worth the trip.
The interior is a bit worn and dated but the great food and service never go out of style.
Great food! Cool historic unique ambience! Staff Mark was wonderful. Went out of his way to make us happy!
Service is exceptional. Neighborhood is fun, food is unique and scrumptious. I remember this restaurant as more upscale. We haven’t been in a couple of years. Maybe because it was so empty on a Sunday evening, I could see all the aging. Don’t be deterred. The drinks are well made and if you are a wine lover, the wine selection is vast and has a history worth checking out. The wine list itself is fun reading. Grilled shrimp over a cream infused hominy base, Smokey short rib with grilled Brussels sprouts, pesto house salad dressing, all really different and wonderful.
The food is fantastic, the Stetson salad was amazing, the Tiger Prawns were delicious and service by Jeremy was incredible. He paired our food with the right wine. We love to visit Cowboy Ciao when we come to Scottsdale. Never disappointed!
Party of 4, and we all ordered the amazing Stetson Chopped Salad along with different appetizers. The food was excellent! They don’t have a wine list, they have a wine book! Our server simply asked us for a budget and varietal, and she recommended an excellent wine so we skipped the book. Food, wine and service was outstanding!
Our final meal of family vacation, we are foodies and this place did not disappoint. The Stenson chopped salad is a must! Absolutely one of the best I have ever had. Very different than one would think. Tuna poke bowl as an appetizer was also amazing. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
GREAT LOCATION CLOSE TO OLD TOWN SCOTTSDALE. QUIRKY MENU AND AVERAGE FOOD.
Always so good. I have to go at least once when I am in Scottsdale for the Stetson salad.
Cowboy Ciao is on of Old Scottsdale’s best restaurants. We have been visiting Scottsdale for years and ALWAYS make a point to dine at Cowboy Ciao!
It was a great restaurant and the food was delicious! They just didn’t have many of the wines that are in their expansive wine book. We ended settling on something that was just ok. I would go again but order a cocktail instead!
Dinner was perfect! Of course we got the Stetson Chopped to start. Ordered the Pastrami Style Short Rib to split (of course the meat was amazing but the Brussels sprouts and mustard mashed potatoes...yum!). Also ordered the bread with bacon fat and truffle Mac n cheese. Everything was absolutely delicious. Our server was attentive but not on top of our table, which is how I like to be waited on.
We had a great time celebrating a wedding anniversary with our friends. Everything was great!
We come here every time we are in the Phoenix area and it never disappoints!
Great mushroom dish and steak. I recommend getting the appetizer size mushroom dish since it is pretty creamy and would be to much as an entree.
23 years coming to C C - nothing matches Stetson salad and the trout was my favorite of many years! Wish our server could appreciate she is working in a special place - she was definitely robotic on Fri 4/6. No matter...as a server once told us in 1998 “we’re all responsible for our own karma” A lasting mantra!
Awesome food!! Little noisy to hear guests across the table!
Best salad ever
Fantastic again! Always a favorite
Was thinking it was a brunch for Easter and it was just their regular lunch menu.
Great service. Very good innovative food. Description on menu, IMO, of dishes need to be more specific, less flowery wording.
The truth is; the chop salad keeps us coming back. We were all pretty disappointed in the meat this time. Far too much peppercorn, couldn’t even taste the meat which is terrible when you are spending a decent amount of $ on it. Sides were tasty.
Mushroom dish is Delicious!
Came to try the salad from the "Best Thing I Ever Ate" - did not disappoint! Fabulous salad.
Obnoxiously loud; our party of three couldn’t hear each other talk. Was a relief to get out of the venue!
Cowboy Ciao has become a Spring Training tradition for my group. The service is first class and the food is definitely something to look forward to. Everyone seems to agree that the Cobb salad is about as good as it gets. With regard to the entree, the exotic mushroom dish is fantastic but you really can’t go wrong
The flat iron steak was very tough. The scallops were mediocre and the bruschetta has too much garlic.
Started off fantastic, Mark our waiter was professional, engaging and efficient. As our dinner arrived a large party of 8 arrived and continued to yell in conversation til we left without having desert. The table next to us also commented on their lack of manners and consideration of other diners...people go to a sports bar if you need to yell to converse.
