Cowboy Ciao Ratings and Reviews
I've been to Cowboy Caio a number of times. It's always been a hot spot but it feels old now. Wasn't wowed like I used to be. I recommend it but I don't think it's worth going a few times. Too many great restaurants in Scottsdale so you should at least try this place once or a few times. It's loud so speak up. Great wine list they are proud of.
Another delicious meal here. The Mushroom dish was what we were after since we had it last time and have craved it ever since. But we decided to branch out and tried the scallops, too. Outstanding! Cooked perfectly and such a lovely mix of textures and flavors. Now that's our favorite! I like that they offer the small plates. A good amount of food and leaves room for the desserts. And how delicious they were. We ordered the Spicy chocolate pudding and Oh, Canada, Peanut bar. WOW! This is a destination restaurant for us. We always eat here when we are in Scottsdale.
Made our reservations based on a friends recommendation. We'll be back! And with other friends. Reminded us of a Trattoria in Florence. Loved the stage seating Samantha arranged and the way our server Judy was attentive to our evening. Swordfish was excellent as was my wife's mushroom entree.
Ciao Bella Baby
The slowest service I have received at any restaurant in Scottsdale (I am a native and dine out frequently!). It was a very disappointing birthday dinner. It took 30 mns to get our bottle of wine and first drinks and it was frustrating from start to finish. Volume level is exceedingly high. The food is pretty good - Chopped salad is delicious, crab enchiladas are unique and tasty and Wine list is extensive. Not romantic nor good for meaningful conversation. Doubt I will return with so many better options nearby.
A very nice food experience. Vibrant is the descriptive word, as this is a fun place and a bit on the loud side. Food, however, exceeds expectations! Try the filet mignon, or the exotic mushroom pan fry. Wild boar meatballs are also a must as a starter. Good location and nearby valet parking. Good value, and nice selection of wines, beers, and drinks. Service on our evening was superb. Would dine here again.
I'm a regular visitor to Cowboy Ciao but this was by far the worst experience I've had there. The restaurant seemed to have its typical Saturday night rush, but wait times were exorbitant. Drinks took 20 minutes and food was at least 40 minutes. My friends and I always order the famous Chopped Salad. The menu prices it at $13.00. We were asked if we want the "entree" size. We've never been asked this before, so we assumed the menu displays the entree, and there must be a separate side variation. The salad arrived and appeared to be the same size as we have ordered countless times. The bill arrived and each salad was priced at $29.00! More than double the price! This was nowhere to be found on the menu, nor was it explained to us. For that price, we would have gone for a more substantial entree. The salad itself tasted great, but we felt duped and disappointed. This degree of price difference should be clearly stated on the menu.
This is my 3rd time eating at this restaurant. I do not live in Scottsdale. We visit typically 1x a year. The chopped salad is everything that is mentioned in all reviews about this restaurant, very good and unique. We will continue to come back to this restaurant.
