Hard to resist the Stetson salad, all the entrees were delicious! Big portions - so go ahead and share or you'll have leftovers to take home. Incredible wine list - almost overwhelming but made to be personable and fun. Love that they aren't pushing the most expensive wines instead they have a huge selection of interesting, great tasting inexpensive wines. I'm already planning what I'll have on my next visit...

After visiting Cowboy Ciao for dinner several times, taking many out of town guests, enjoying outstanding service and food, we decided to go there for lunch. Well, the lunch staff just wasn't up to par. Apparently the bartender was out with a medical emergency, which we felt bad for, but it seems more staff should have been brought in. The same man who was our host who took us to our table, then took our order for drinks & food, and then he became the bartender too! Needless to say, it took quite a long time to receive our drinks since at the same time he was seating other people, taking other peoples' orders, and then playing bartender! We usually have great service, so this review is solely for the one & only time we had lunch.

An excellent experience from start to finish. The best meal we've ever had in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. The wine list is especially notable. I can't imagine anyone coming away disappointed in this gem of a restaurant.

The service was impeccable!! The quality of the food was absolutely to die for and it's why I keep coming back!!! But let's be honest, it's time for some renovations. It's starting to look a little dark and dingy in there, dusty chandeliers, worn out panels hung from hooks in the ceiling to section off parts of the restaurant and butcher paper over the tables(I felt like I should have had some crayons)?!

Mushroom plate was not consistent in flavor or taste from previous visit. Wayhu hamburgers very over cooked. Risotto with coconut flavor not good. Lack of consistency in a recipe that is a signature recipe indicates need to check tastes of foods.

Unique combinations of ingredients that blended perfectly! Had the pork belly appetizer, the puerco lento (pork shank) and the exotic mushroom pan fry -- all were amazing, but definitely recommend the pork belly...melt in your mouth delicious!

Cowboy Ciao used to be a spot I went to about 8 or 9 years ago. I decided to go there again due to nostalgia reasons, and I don't think it lived up to my expectations at all. To start off, the food was not as great as it used to be. The scallops had a sour after taste to them. The wild boar meatballs needed more seasonings, and the sauce was too salty. The duck confit relleno was pretty good, but the batter was oily and fell right off the chile.

Next off, we got seated in the brightly lit room. The waitress seemed rush every time she came to us, and it showed with her missing our wild mushroom order.

With so many other good restaurants such as NOCA and FNB near by, I won't ever recommend this place to anyone again.

Surprising and unusual items, small plates and generous entree size portions, everything we tried was delicious. Try the Stetson Chopped Salad, the Exotic Mushroom Pan Fry, the bread pudding for dessert. The seed crusted ahi was wonderful and its two good sized steaks made a hungry man smile. We'll be back whenever we're in the area, we had a great time here.

The food was incredible- the mushrm pan stir fry was intensely flavorful, earthy and rich. We shared the signature Stetson salad for an app and it was very good as well. There is an extensive wine list with varied price points. The ambiance was quite noisy, and this is obviously a popular place but our server left a lot to be desired. We weren't greeted for quite awhile, didn't ask if we would like to see the wine list and then took our menus to give to another table before we had ordered. She didn't check back after our food was delivered and all in all seemed dismissive and bored. The food was amazing, but this is a case of the server determining the overall opinion of the total experience. Too bad.

Had heard lots of good things about this restaurant, and was eager to try it. Service was friendly and efficient, food was good, (Pork cheeks were delicious) but I found the noise level very high. We had two couples at a table for 4 and even at that it was difficult to hear each other at times.

Yes the chopped salad and much of the other food is good and the waiter was very good, however the hostess was poor and overall feel at Cowboy Ciao is "grungy". It's also the kind of place that pays no attention to your reservation or special requests through open table. When management places no interest in reviewing reservations each day, I feel they probably also let many other more important things slip by. It's not for me and even the chopped salad won't get me back with all the other fabulous places in that area.

The meal was great, starting with wild boar meatballs, then spare ribs and the mushroom pan fry, and finishing with the best part – apple cobbler with duck fat ice cream. We will definitely return for more!

We dined early on a Friday night. Nabbed a great two topper between the window and the bar. Our server was efficient and friendly. We were surprised to find out that the bar did not stock Bombay Sapphire Gin? The Hendrix was very good though. We decided to split the signature mushroom dish (appetizer). It was very tasty. For our entrees, I chose the lamb shank. My companion had the veal chop. I was very pleased. The lamb was accented by risotto and spicy/sweet red cabbage...delicious! My friend, however, was very disappointed in the chop. He felt it was cooked correctly, good flavor, but very tough. Our carryout dessert (chocolate bread pudding) traveled well and was enjoyed later.

The food was good, although I didn't find as fantasitc as all the raves about it.
I had the Chop Salad and the mushroom pan. They were again , good, but nothing to rave about. I don't think I will go back just because there are so many places to try, and this did not stand out as being excellent.

It is always hard to get my husband to try a new place. I planned a Valentines Day lunch and he wasn't allowed to grumble. No need to worry, he ordered the open face steak sandwich which he said was outstanding. I had the Stetson chopped salad, which was perfect. No doggie bags! He now is asking when we can go back!

We arrived and were promptly seated by the adorable hostess for our reservation. Upon sitting down, one cant help but notice the southwest influenced decor (charming movie pictures of marilyn monroe and john wayne). Our server Rich was great and helped us pick out a great wine but didn't hover over us which was nice. Our water glasses were always full and the delicious food came promptly, started with meatballs, then had pork porterhouse and lamb shank. All in all it was a great experience!
