Way too loud in the back room. No candles, rather dark, and the food took forever.
My sister and I (along with our spouses) took my Mom here for her 75th birthday, we were a party of 5. We came here because of the reviews and the menu looked interesting. While I wouldn't go out of my way to return, it was good but not mind shattering. The server was very good, he allowed us to talk ad enjoy our meals. The food...was ok. I would give it s 3 1/2 since that wasn't available I gave it a 4.
It was a Monday night, so the restaurant was nearly empty. Our server was great, his recommendations looked up to his descriptions, and the food was excellent.
Old stand by in Old town but needs an update, starting to feel dated and grungy
Food is what keeps us coming back!
On this trip to Cowboy Ciao I realized that I have been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years. I live out of state but every time I am in town, having dinner here is on the top of my list. I introduced more friends and family to this restaurant and of course the Stetson Salad was the favorited by all! We had wonderful service, a perfect rose wine and delicious dinners. Thank you for being a long time, neighborhood gem!
We love this place. The Stetson Salad is a must. Staff is top shelf. Read the comments they post on the menu. Those quotes are great entertainment!
Great food and service. Can't wait to go back for more
our favorite server is MaryAnn - i'm sure everyone is outstanding but she is friendly, knows the menu and is helpful for drink/wine selections
Very good food - the chop salad is worth the visit
Cowboy Ciao is fantastic with a great wine list. It never ceases to disappoint another fabulous meal. Don't wait book your table now!
Fabulous restaurant. Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
Food, service and pricing was excellent. Restaurant needs more lighting, it's too dark. It would also be nice if you had 4 seater tables next to the window.
We enjoyed the apps of mushrooms. Their mac n cheese is awesome. I wish I would have ordered that for my meal. Their salads are awesome and mixed at your table. Scallops were fresh and very much enjoyed
Professional staff, great food, moderate pricing
Great atmosphere, service and food. The salmon chopped salad is a must!
It was wonderful, and our waiter was very helpful!
Nice atmosphere, great service. Food was good, not great.
I've been a fan of Cowboy Ciao for a long time but this last visit wasn't so great. I made the reservation through open table and when we told the hostess that we had a reservation she looked at her screen and said we don't have a reservation for you. Thank goodness I showed her my phone that had the email confirmation. We stood there for a while waiting to see if they were going to seat us or not. The restaurant was not full at all and had plenty of tables for 2. We felt like they didn't care and I was ready to go somewhere else. They a gentleman came over and said let's seat them anyways. He said that they were having problems with the computer. They sat at a less desirable table in the corner. I went to place my handbag down and there was food on the floor.
The cocktails took forever to come to the table and the food was less than satisfactory. The food didn't taste fresh and my mother's dish was very hot spicy as she ended up not eating all of it.
I wish I had a better review but maybe this will help them to make some changes in their customer service as well as food.
Absolutely get the chopped salad. We had beer and wine throughout dinner which was great. Our server was hard to track down and seemed to be serving the entire restaurant. Short rib and swordfish dish were great. Had the bread pudding for dessert which was delicious as well. I would recommend but be prepared for spotty service.
We visited during restaurant week and received a decent value. The wooden chairs at all of the tables are very uncomfortable and the dining area is somewhat crowded. It is near the waterfront in Scottsdale so it is an active location. the service was mediocre. Not particularly friendly but acceptable. I like refills on my beverage without asking. A house specialty is a mushroom dish that was tasty. My flatiron steak with chimchurri was not as flavorful as I expected and not tender, it was served with fried grits. Polenta came with the mushroom dish so I was corn carbed out by the end of the night. I really appreciate a few veggies on my plate, yet that's not how they do it here. Our other dish was a red fish served on a huge mound of gnocci that looked more like cocoons or seed pods, not particularly appetizing and without flavor. NO veggies! Of course the chopped salad is another specialty that is pretty yummy but heavy on dressing. the dessert of lemon poppy bread pudding was too lemony. I am glad I finally made it to Cowboy Ciao, not sure I would go back. Maybe for those mushrooms though.
This has always been a great place to eat expect for our last two visits
The quality of food has gone down hill with very pricey wines .
Another AZ restaurant week stop. It was a busy Saturday night when we ate so I think wait time for our food was a little longer than usual. We did the special three course menu, but added the mushroom dish and the stetson salad courses. We also got a side of truffled Mac n cheese. I know, I know we are fatties. Of the starters we tried the meatballs and deconstructed sushi roll. The meatballs were AHmazing. Sushi roll idea was cool and tasted good, but paled in comparison to the meatball dish. Mac n cheese was creamy an decadent, truffle flavor was not overpowering. Mushrooms were good, but kind of forgettable, would not get again. Stetson salad is a winner, I could have just eaten a full sized version as my entree. Speaking of entrees, we got the flat iron steak and red snapper. The steak was cooked to perfect medium rare. The snapper was a little dry. We weren't blown away by either entree to be honest. Thankfully we ended on a very happy note with dessert, the flourless brownie and lemon poppy bread pudding. I could have eaten double portions of both despite being absolutely stuffed.
What a huge disappointment! I had heard so many good things about this restaurant and was excited to try it. Sadly it was a bust. The service was abysmal, the food mediocre, the wine was ok at best and the noise level was so loud, we were screaming at each other at a table for four. Not worth the hype.
Don’t know if Restaurant week factored in at all , the food is very good , the server competent but the place was not well staffed for the number of diners. Also the noise level is through the roof literally . Was dining with 5 friends and had to yell every time I wanted to talk . That alone will make this only a maybe to ever go back
First time visit for my husband and daughter and I. We enjoyed the food and the waiter's knowledge. It was a great deal for us because it was AZ Restaurant Week! We would go back when we are in the mood for the Scottsdale waterfront scene.
We were seated in the back where they usually do table tastings and it was quite warm and noisy because we were surrounded by large parties. Ask for the front, the temperature and the noise level are much better. We came for my birthday because I wanted their chopped salad, which is quite literally, the best salad I've ever had. But they had their restaurant week menu and because they offered a chopped salad for $10 with the meal, I thought we should give it a try. I ordered the deconstructed sushi appetizer, pork tenderloin and brownie for dessert. My husband ordered the wild boar meatballs, the flat iron steak and the lemon poppy bread pudding. The value was good because we got that and the $10 said for $43.00. I also ordered a flight of wine (very good deal and yummy). The food starting arriving very fast. I didn't even touch the sushi by the time the salads arrived. My only criticism of the server was that felt rushed and I had to ask her to slow it down. Otherwise, she was really terrific. The sushi was tasty, but my husband and I thought the meatballs were bland. The salad...amazing as always (I regret not ordering the full size). My husband's steak was cooked beautifully, but it was over seasoned (particularly with salt). The polenta fries were bland. My tenderloin was a little cold, but it tasted great. Both desserts were just okay. We will return for the salad and for which I get cravings, but I don't think I'll experiment beyond that when we return.
MaryAnn was amazing. Went for Restaurant week we will definitely be back!
We celebrated our 37th anniversary at Cowboy Ciao during Arizona Restaurant Week so we enjoyed the benefits of a special price for an incredible selection of entrees/other dishes during Restaurant Week. Our meal was fabulous and our server was fantastic - very attentive yet unintrusive. We highly recommend Cowboy Ciao!
Fantastic service and incredible food & wine. It gets a bit noisy since it is a popular restaurant, but worth it!
Great food and service!! Their wine list is outstanding!
Great food nothing at all was even close to sub fantastic
Excellent as always...
Great! Very fun and good ambiance.
We were for restaurant week and not disappointed.Selections were great, food was great. Loved it!
Duck appetizer amazing.
We came during restaurant week and it was extremely busy. It took almost 30 minutes to get our drinks and my pork tenderloin was completely raw. The rest of the food was great and the service got better once the restaurant started to clear out. Comped our drinks for the raw pork which was nice.
Every aspect from check in to dessert was excellent. Our waiter was incredible in helping us pick a wine from their daunting list. We will be back.
Great spot but wasn’t very impressed. There was no consistency in the quality of food. Salmon was great but portions were bad. came with too much quinoa and no veggie. Steak was mediocre.
Very poor service. Food took over an hour to co e out and one order was incorrect. One member of our party complained to management and they were not helpful and even rude when we were leaving. Party of four will never go back.
Great service and food. The short ribs were delicious. My wife is a celiac and they fixed her up with a nice salmon dish.
