What started off as a disappointing Thanksgiving dinner turned out well.
Reservations were made a month previously and upon arrival were told our table wasn’t available. Then we were informed it would be a half hour wait. We spoke to David the manager, who seated us an uncomfortable table in the front bar area near the entrance instead of the table we reserved in the main dinning area. Not happy but David offered complimentary drinks. Lauren the server was fantastic. Very helpful and accommodating.
Despite the poor start David and Lauren truly made it up to us. Food was good but not great.
We came for Thanksgiving dinner, we ate from the A la carte menu instead. The Thanksgiving menu looked delish but we already had a thanksgiving lunch. The service was great and we mistakenly got pie for dessert. Thank you!! The pumpkin pie was amazing.
First time guests. Had an enjoyable Thanksgiving/Birthday feast. Staff appeared supportive of each other and guests in a full dining room. Will be back again! Thank you.
I came here for Thanksgiving and was very happy with my choice. The dinner was great (especially the Brussels sprouts) and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We had a great time.
We came here during our vacation in the US to have a thanksgiving meal and wow - so tasty and we still can’t get over how good the Brussel Sprouts or Stuffing were. Excellent food and good service.
We would highly recommend for next year if you’re state side
Thanksgiving dinner, enjoyable but service was lacking, doubling up on the servers asking what you wanted, didn’t get gravy with our meal although it’s included.
Brussels sprouts were the highlight.
Pumpkin pie was good too
Nice NYC spot. Excellent pizzas, salads, and other apps/sides. Service was a little spotty... more attentiveness is in order. Very fresh caesar salad, excellent brussel sprouts, loved the Mandilli... folded pasta sheet, basil almond pesto, ricotta, san marzano sugo. Both the honey pizza and the brussel sprout pizza were fantastic. Fried apple pie sundae, not recommended. Small fried apple fritter with ice cream that was completely melted... a mess and a waste of almost $20 when you include tax + tip. A better bet is the ice cream and sorbet... esp. the vanilla pear sorbet, so good.
BTW, the burgers look great... I'd go for that if you are not a pizza lover... but the pizzas are the way to go here.
Fab and our waiter was the absolute best!!!
Good food, awful service
This is by far one of my favorite spots in NYC! The food is delicious and the portions are perfect!
It was my moms birthday and we wanted a restaurant all picky eaters could enjoy. The food was outstanding but what really impressed us in a city of good restaurants was the outstanding service. From calling to ask about bringing a cake to being seated by the hostess to our waitress, everyone was incredibly accommodating and attentive. My mother is a hard critic being a foodie and city dweller and she walked out stating she had an incredible birthday dinner and it made her list of top restaurants. We all agreed we will be dining there again very soon
Had a great meal at Covina. Unfortunately, the service was a bit lacking. Our drinks took a while to get to our table, and one of them was completely wrong. The server didn't apologize or ask the bartender to make a new drink. There were quite a few times our waters and canteens were empty and had to ask for water refills. After ordering dessert, the waitress took away our wine glasses and didn't ask us if we'd like another glass. A few of us would've ordered more wine if we were asked. Despite issues with service, the food was very good.
Loved our waiter. Unfortunately forgot his first name but his last name is Zack. We’ll be back!
Food was good, service was inconsistent, but value was horrible. The quality of the meal is not commensurate with the price. Despite the hip ambiance, the poor value will ensure that I am not going to be a repeat customer.
Your life can continue without Covina in your life. Carry on...
The restaurant was full so it was a bit noisy but the atmosphere there is fantastic- warm and inviting. The servers are great. The food is relatively simple in style but delicious- perfect for what I like. It’s a go-to kind of place.
David @ the Bar :: incredible
Informative interesting and concise descriptions
Engaged and engaging but not smothering
Just a delight- and he was totally right - everything was great - the broccolini was stellar
delicious food, great service, well priced, happy!
This was a really nice place to go with our adult son and his wife. The food was very well-prepared; the appetizers were uniquely constructed and very savory, the pastas were perfect, and the salmon was well-executed. Wine and beer were well priced with a small but decent selection. We really liked the 'neighborhood feel'. I enjoyed our experience enough to highly recommend the restaurant.
Decent food and ambiance. Service, however, was most disappointing part of meal - long lead time before initial service, broken wine glass when removing from table with limited concern for quickly cleaning or addressing break, and fair insight on menu recommendations.
This was our second visit to Covina. Very good service. Excellent cocktails. Interesting menu with good pizza and pasta dishes. We enjoyed Covina and would return next time in NYC. Thank you especially for the very good service and for a dining room that is not too loud -- and the good food and drinks.
Horrible experience. Made i
Covina is hands down my favorite restaurant in NYC. So much so, that I've gone to Covina with my now fiancé for the past three years on my birthday. It's a great place to celebrate a special occasion, because the food is phenomenal, the atmosphere is sophisticated yet cozy, and the service is top notch.
I recently went for my birthday on November 6, and we had Allie as our server. We let her know we were celebrating, and she started us off with complimentary glasses of champagne! We really appreciated her letting us try a couple different wines before we chose one (the Pinot Noir is killer), and she let us know all of the new additions to the menu since the last time we were there. She also gave us her personal recommendations, which we ended up taking (and glad we did!). I love how the menu has a diverse range of food, not just Italian specialties like pizza and pasta, but also fish, steak, and vegetable dishes.
We ordered the ricotta and fig toast appetizer to start, followed by the mushroom tagliatelle pasta, and a half/half split pizza of the spicy honey and coppa/spinach. Allie let us in on the secret that we could split the pizza between two different kinds. Overall, the food was 10/10-- Italian food with a modern twist. We really enjoyed all of the spices and flavors.
Lastly, Allie gave us a complimentary desert sampler, that we absolutely weren't expecting. It included a mini cupcake with a candle, an apple tart with vanilla ice cream, and a scoop of s'mores gelato. The s'mores gelato was my favorite! It was a great way to put an end to a great meal and an amazing birthday in general.
I HIGHLY recommend Covina to anyone looking for a good meal/experience in the city. Thanks again to Allie for taking care of us the other day and really making my evening super special.
This was a great place to take some business partners for a relaxed meal. The wait staff was great, except a wine was suggested for us, then they only had 1 bottle of it, and we were a party of 6. I'll ask more questions next time. I know I will be going back!!!
A lovely breakfast and a very positive experience! Enjoyed it and will happily return
Just a very poor experience from start to finish
I stayed as a guest at the hotel and it was the only restaurant that we went. Loved es the 3 meals. Pancakes, cappuccinos, the pizza the tomato soup, and the vegetarian pasta... amazing
Food was very good, the price was high, the service was awful, the ambiance was nice.
We went with another couple. Damn close to a first rate dining experience. Our server Allie was cordial and attentive. Burrata and hummus appetizers were superb. Entree of salmon prepared as requested and a good size portion. Pasta I had was clearly freshly made in house and delicious. Everything was served hot a big plus. Wines by the glass are pricey. But other than that a good time was had by all.
Love this spot! Great food, cool atmosphere.
Loved the atmosphere...food was really good. Great service too!
We waited over an hour to sit despite making a reservation. Food was great once we sat.
This was THE BEST pizza spot. It was so easy to get to by walking and subway is only a block away. For NYC pizza, it’s hard to beat that $1 slice... but this definitely surpassed all expectations! The staff was great with their menu and also did an amazing job with pairing wine with the different menu entrees.
This is a resturant that everything from the side salad to their pizza’s taste fresh and the menu is very well curated. A great ambiance for friends or a romantic date.
PS: The Spicy Honey pizza is to die for - and I’m not even a big spice girl.
Reserved a table for 8 for brunch and were seated in a small alcove from the main dining area, with beautiful lighting. Though it wasn’t a private room, the space felt intimate and perfect for our group to catch-up and chat.
Our dishes were also delicious and instead of dessert, the group shared the lemon ricotta pancakes and Italian donuts, both of which I highly recommend.
Service was excellent, timing was perfect, and we couldn’t have asked for a better Sunday brunch.
First time dining at Covina- had a very nice family lunch! Service was pretty good and food was delicious. I recommend the avocado toast and chopped chicken salad!
Very limited menu and what's there is nothing special. Too pricey for the experience.
We came at an off hour and the restaurant was empty except for us which was fine. We had the cauliflower starter which was ok but skimpy for sharing. I ordered the fire roasted chicken salad. It arrived without the bacon or blue cheese as listed on the menu. Instead of taking away the salad and giving me one with all the ingredients, the server brought me a portion of cheese and bacon to add to the salad. He indicated that he was was giving me additional items if I didn’t get enough originally. I repeated there was No bacon or cheese in the salad. Basically, I thought they could have done much better in service and food prep. My husband enjoyed his chicken sandwich. I had enjoyed my dining at Covina previously, but doubt if I’ll be back.
Ambience, food and service all great! Definitely recommend for a relaxed evening
