What Insiders Are Saying
A conveniently located restaurant in Midtown that’s more than just convenient. The food and service at Covina are great.
We had a reservation for this past Sunday morning, however upon arrival there was a note on the door advising that the restaurant was closed for a special event. We were dismayed that neither the restaurant nor Open Table had alerted to us that our reservation would not be honored.
Very attentive staff that cater to your every need. Lovely for a first, and now second date to come.
A great place for breakfast. I met a colleague for breakfast at Covina and I enjoyed it.
Great hidden away lunch spot where you don't want to go low end or high end. Good service.
Menu decent. Shared humus was delicious. Salmon good too.
Def recommend. Make a reservation, I think it's going to get quite popular.
the chicken piri was sooo small it was embarrassing !!!!
Really liked this restaurant and it was my first visit. The site I visited for additional information, The Infatuation, got it right. Loved the ambiance- modern with mood lighting, nice vibe and the food was great. Had a pizza- really tasty- great sauce, nice pasta and a chicken dish with sides. They do a great job and I can see why it is populr.
A little low key during the lunch hour, but gorgeous restaurant with great food!
Lovely place, good service. Food was good but portions were almost ridiculously small for the price - and yes, even for NYC. I had the gulf shrimp. Three small
shrimp and half a cup of polenta: $28. Usually I don’t balk at the price but it felt wrong. Otherwise a peaceful and nice place.
The waiter was wonderful and the food was delicious. He was very accommodating with my 2 nephews, age 4 and 6. We were able to eat quickly and they loved the pasta.
Very attentive service. Good for sharing. Honey pizza is the best!
Had dinner with my husband before a jazz show. We were seated but then no one approached or greeted us to take our order. We had to ask who was our waitress. A major turn off, especially since it was our first visit. I had the spicy honey pizza and my husband had the chicken. Both dishes were good. We MAY return on our next visit to NY, but there are so many great restaurants in NY who also have great food but with much better service.
Service was great food was good - good selection for brunch and I loved the decor - lots of space
Food was wonderful-- interesting, complex flavors and delicious. Lovely environment.
Everything was great. The atmosphere is relaxing with great lighting and low noise level. The food was overall good. Just one suggestion, some of the dishes were overly heavy on sauce or cheese. For instance, I was hoping to really taste the pesto in the pesto pasta but was surprised to find that it was swimming in red pasta sauce. I found it to be overwhelmingly heavy. Aim for more refined Italian pasta dishes with hint of flavor but not overwhelming to the palate.
Always love Covina! Good is creative, well prepared and not fussy! Excellent wait staff. Thanks.
Such a great spot! Make reservations in advance - it fills up! And try to arrive in time for a drink at the bar!
Great menu;c great food; excellent service.......all around excellent.
I normally don’t give reviews but feel compelled to share.
I frequent NYC restaurants on a regular basis and the price value of Covina is the worst I have ever experienced. The drinks are outrageously priced and the main dishes even worse. 28 dollars for 3 shrimp is ridiculous. And to make matters even worse - we were seated 20+ minutes past our reservation and squeezed into a table that was too small and so close to the next table we couldn’t have a decent conversation. The manager (Kaitlin) did nothing (when asked) to try and make it right . This was a reservation I made over a month ago to celebrate my daughter in laws birthday (among 6 of us) and I am extremely disappointed and embarrassed at having picked Covina for our celebration. Needless to say I strongly advise to avoid this restaurant.
While the food was good, it wasn’t good enough to justify the small portions and high prices. Definitely felt like a restaurant resting on the fact it’s attached to a hotel. Server was very sweet and helpful.
Delicious. Robust. Bountiful. Just go!
Covina actually has acoustical panels installed in the ceiling to make that NY dining experience better than sitting in a typical NY restaurant. Service was fine, pizza authentic, and the brocollini came w/ a tonnato sauce which was new to us but very good w/ the wood fired vegetable.
I was disappointed I made a reservation for my cousin who was coming out of town and they sat us at the communal table. Even though there was plenty of table to sit at. Also the bar stools are extremely high and made uncomfortable to eat our meal. We asked our server what was a good value for wines by the glass as the rest of the table was drinking cocktails and she recommended $25 glass of wine which clearly we were not looking for. Overall the experience and the server was underwhelming there are so many restaurants in the city I won’t be coming back as a return customer.
The ambiance of this restaurant is great. It's well designed and trendy. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. I let them know I had a dairy allergy, they were attentive and suggested the bucatini without dairy, which was delicious! My friend had the bass. It was incredibly well done. The main dish didn't come with any sides so I thought the price was a little high for just the main fish. The restaurant was so nice to bring out some delicious sorbets for my friend's birthday! I loved this attention to detail in the reservation.
I have many food allergies, our server Matthew was extremely helpful in getting my meal modified. I was happy that he listened to my needs and my meal turned out great!
This was our second visit to Covina and we had high hopes. We had previously been there for a 40th birthday party where we thought the food was excellent (pizza, pasta & meatballs) - especially when you consider it was for a larger group.
However our return visit left us very disappointed. Simply put - everything was way too salty. The buccatini pasta and steak were over-powered with salt.
I guess it shows that the chef on the night can have a massive impact.
Great neighborhood gem. Lovely decor. Good acoustics - able to converse easily at tables.
Spot on. Second time we’ve been here. Service was attentive. We ordered the hummus and meatballs to share for appetizer. My company had kicked around the idea of splitting the chicken hot dog entree as a starter but the server dissuaded us. Then it arrives between apps and entree course as complementary. Very nice!
The chicken might sound mundane but it was delicious if not a bit on the salty side. The wood grilled specials including the gulf shrimp and black bass were a hit. The charred broccolini side is awesome.
Dessert wasn’t quite as interesting but our friends enjoyed the brown butter pound cake which had a gorgeously browned meringue topping and mini scoop of ice cream.
Covina is just really solid all around. Great atmosphere, on the dressy casual side which is great and service is on point!
Such a neighborhood gem! The brussel sprouts are a must and the wine line is extensive. They carry a pretty rare COS orange wine that me and my fiance love. Was super excited to see it on the menu!
Seated in the very back by the kitchen. Reminded them that we were Open Table Premium but that made no difference.
Just an average NYC Restaurant where they seat you in the back by the kitchen!
Brunch with best friend. Great Bellini, deliciously cooked burger.
Lots of brunch options. Definitely get the Hungarian fry bread. Interesting cocktails too. I had the mezcal with cold brew and condensed milk=alcoholic coffee ice cream.
We decided on another drink after we asked for our check and they were very accommodating as they needed our table for a group that sat down next to us. They asked us to relocate and said the drinks were on them. Most excellent service. Will definitely be back.
I took one of my support staff here as a big THANK YOU for all of the great work she does. It was really beautiful and we were seated immediately. Staff was super friendly and food was absolutely perfect and delicious. Not one thing wasn't perfect, I was really impressed. I am now dying to try their rooftop and brunch, the drinks look so cute and its about that time of year. I also recommend the little coffee shop that they have in the front. I bought all the chocolate chip cookies they had to bring back to the office and there were several "best they ever had" comments.
Wonderful delicious dinner once again at this delightful restaurant. Excellent attentive and friendly service, the hummus is a must and the bucculini pasta is scrumptious. I will be back for sure!
Best salad I’ve had in the city since...forever. We ogled the beautiful dishes on other tables too. It will take many returns to make our way through this fresh, innovative menu. Looking forward to the challenge!
The food was tasty but way over-priced.
The perfect background noise level for dinner - it was a level that made us feel surrounded by energy but we didn’t have to shout to converse over dinner. Great food and drinks/wine. We found the prices to be a bit high, but decided with the ambiance and service the price tag ended up being well worth it. We’ll definitely be back!
Excellent food, friendly, efficient service, nice art
Amazing food and very generous wait staff! The service far exceeded our expectations!
