This restaurant is very nice but extremely noisy extremely busy. The waitress who served us was amazingly nice, and let us know about y the food was delayed.
The front desk checkin lady needs to be warmer and nicer.
My friend had a great ribe cap, and my shrimp cocktail was very good. But my porterhouse was atrocious. Very hard to chew and it was not very tasty
I will give it another try because this was my first time there
The start was a little rocky. I had made reservations for 7:30. We arrived and checked in with the hostess. She stated she had a nice booth and we told her that was great. Well...people came in and were seated as we stood there. Finally, we went back to the hostess stand and asked if there was a problem. It was 7:45. Approximately 5 minites later we were escorted to our table. Unacceptable.
Our waiter was phenomenal...he made up for the poor start! He was knowledgeable, well versed and honest in his opinions. Thanks for making it a great night!
Council Oak does not disappoint when it comes to their steaks. Ours were aged properly, cooked to perfection, and succulent. The asparagus, baked potato and onion soup are what you would expect from a fine dining establishment. The chopped salad was to die for! We would come back just for this..amazing!
Food and service was great, but we could still smell the cigarette smoke from the casino area. Other than that, was excellent.
This is a Must Eat Restaurant! The Filet Mignon is outstanding. A true Filet with outstanding taste, texture, cooked to perfection! Salads, sides are huge & scrumptious! Appetizer shrimp are almost prawns! Service is outstanding!
As always, first class service, incredible dry aged steaks and perfect sides. Don’t miss the warm gooey butter cake for dessert!
We were disappointed in taste and tenderness of steaks, as steak seemed to be burned with charcoal on outside and really did not enhance the flavor. We have eaten at Council Oak before and it was great but this time we must say that the steak was no better than a steak we were served from Texas Roadhouse. One of us ordered a 20 oz ribeye and the other order the ribeye cap. The rest of the food which was lobster bisque and Caesar salad was excellent.
Although Oak is always great, I consider there steaks above Berns, Charlie's and Ruth Chris, they missed the boat on the King Crab this time. This was the first time in over 20 meals it was not perfect. Crab started out dry, actually stuck to shell, sent back, but the same legs came out, after they were dropped in water. I just think they were old or freezer burn maybe, we will be back, but stick to the steaks or the Calamari Lobster!!
Love this steakhouse. Service was great again. Only complaint is that the Bearnaise was not served warm. Food otherwise was excellent!
Good food but better service. Mark was a true professional.
The steak lived up to the hype. The Calamari/Lobster appetizer was okay. The Chopped Salads were okay. The Creamed Corn/Bacon was not good. The Onion Rings were good. I was not impressed with the ambiance. I thought it would be more romantic. I was overdressed for the occasion (it was Chili's/Applebee's casual). The restaurant is dark and quite loud. We spent 180.00 (no alcohol/dessert) and the whole experience fell short. I was expecting polished service and it was just okay. They didn't do anything wrong per se....but it was not what I have experienced at other upscale steakhouses. It was not worth the money. When making a reservation you are asked if there is a special occasion but no one at the restaurant followed up to see if there any special requests.
the food was wonderful. Had the bone in filet, cooked perfectly. All the sides were excellent except for the grilled octopus...the servers did a good job and they had the wine we like..all in all good experience.
Incredible food and service!
I can’t stand it when the steak is not cooked to order and has to be sent back. This was one of those times. I’ve had many good experiences. But just it as asked. Otherwise it ruins the entire meal.
Steaks are truly special. Great selection of meats. Attentive service. Always dependable
We were extremely happy with everything as we celebrated our 52nd anniversary with my brother-in-law and his wife. The waiter was helpful and knowledgeable. Couldn't have been nicer. The food exceeded our expectations. A lovely evening.
THE WORST MEAL I HAVE HAD AT A TAMPA RESTAURANT- I was really unimpressed by this place, I thought it was going to be 5 stars all around. The food was extremely salty, first came the appetizers, I had the lobster bisque... it was extremely salty but I powered through it and finished it. My date had the Bone in rib eye with a side of french fries and I had the grouper with a baked potato...... my date and I could not eat our meals after two bites.
Very good service and food was excellent !
Service exceptional. Cuts of meat outstanding. Seasoned fries overcooked. A bit loud for my taste.
I have always had a great experience and great food at Council Oak since I first tried it many years ago but tonight was hands-down the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant as nice as Council Oak is supposed to be. It started when my wife and I were told they removed our favorite appetizer from the menu, the charcuterie board, and we settled for something else and ended an hour later when we still had not received the main entree, which was one (1) filet mignon steak and truffle fries. The waiter completely blew it, realized he had forgot to put in the order and tried to cover by offering us a free drink. About 10 minutes after that promise (and no drinks...which had been empty for a while) we had decided it was no longer worth the wait and decided to leave. Once I could finally track the waiter down again, it was another 10 minutes before I could get the check for the drinks and appetizers we received in the hour before.
I should mention there were numerous empty tables and plenty of staff, just no desire by the waiter or management to do anything as little as check on a couple waiting that long for a simple steak. I’m probably not going back for a long while, which is a shame because I really like that place but to pull this on Valentine’s Day on a date night is just unforgivable. They may need to see some losses before anything changes.
Awesome filet, great ap of calamari
King crab was also excellent
Outstanding food and service. A bit pricey but worth it.
Smell of smoke took away from dining experience, friendly service over priced wine menu.
The smell of smoke from the casino is inside the restaurant. That ruined my steak!! The smell of smoke stayed in our clothes all night. My son was coughing all night too!
The food is always delicious and is only out-shined by the friendly and attentive wait staff. Highly recommend this restaurant!!
I love the ambiance, food and experience at Council Oak. Always great for special occasions. More expensive than other premium steakhouses, but reasonable for the quality.
Elegant setting, excellent menu, especially the lobster bisque
It was a great experience being only my second time in and I will return.
Great menus great drinks great atmosphere
Food was excellent, service was very good. The noise level was awful, a table of 4 and I could not hear the person beside me talking.
The steak melts in your mouth. Service was outstanding.
Got in fairly soon after the reserved time. Service was great as was the food which was a bit pricey. After the meal we stayed and conversed with no pressure to leave by the wait staff.
The crab legs were amazing but the filet was horrible and dry. We waiting over an hour for our entrée and we were told by the manager that's how it comes so I'm not sure that we will be back.
I was only able to serve a table for 6 people on open table when I called the restaurant to tell them I have a party of 11, it took days to actually get a hold of someone. They were not able to make a reservation until 9 pm for dinner. I had told all of my friends we were going there so we didn’t change it. Big mistake, we were there at 7 pm I told them to seat us as soon as possible they said to come back at 9 pm and that was the time for my reservation so we decided to walk around the Casino. So far nothing was wrong. We showed up back at the restaurant at 9 they sat us at 910 we ordered fairly quickly. Our appetizers took 30 minutes and we did not get our extremely overpriced steak until 1030 (even though there was only 7 of us). I had a cake delivered to the restaurant for my friend’s 50th birthday they waiter brought it without lighting the candles. We we’re searching for a lighter when we were supposed to be signing happy birthday. Just awful overall. We didn’t even a management stop by to apologize for the food taking so long. I will never go back.
Always great food. Great service. Never a disappointment
Have been here several times before but felt service was not the best this time. Food was all mixed up and appetizer/salad plates still in front of us while trying to serve main course. Very unorganized
Outstanding, very unfortunate the casino has a smoke filtration issue, it's like being in one of the old casinos in downtown Vegas, therefore the smoke smell follows you into the restaurant
Council Oak never fails to shine. I have been here several times, and have never been disappointed.
Delicious steaks, cooked perfectly! Great wine list. Excellent service. Very very expensive.
Restaurant was excessively loud. Actually, in my opinion, management should have intervened to quell the boisterous behavior at a large, all male, inebriated table. They were drunk and shouting. Service was very good and the octopus appetizer was superb.
