Another Amazing Time. We had 5 in our party. Two guests From Maine ...first time! Everyone couldn’t say enough great things...from the escargot and octopus to the pear martinis! Don’t forget the butter cake with sea salt ice cream.
A huge thanks to Marija who’s service was on point the entire time. We just love her.
The steaks, seafood and soups are the best Tampa has to offer. The service is equally as good.
Fabulous 80th birthday dinner for my very special friend
Council Oak is Hard Rock Casino's attempted at a high class steak house. Over the years of going here I get more and more disappointed by the lack of quality and service.
This visit the food took almost an hour to get to our table and when the manager accidentally stopped by to ask how our night was, we gave him that feedback. He never returned to the table. Did not appear to be appropriately mortified we were unhappy.
Lately steaks have not been very good. Lobsters over cooked. Caliber of servers hit and miss.
It does match with the overall poor customer service at the Casino and casino restaurants in general. But unacceptable at one with this high of prices.
This is our first time at Council Oak. It was a great experience for us. Food was excellent. We love the bacon in the Bloody Mary. OMG! It’s delicious. Steaks were phenomenal. He had the bone in ribeye medium rare and it was really tasty. I got the special grouper with Oscar sauce with crab on top. It was delicious. I think the price was high for the special though. Overall all our dinner was great. I would definitely recommend Council Oak and would suggest to go with their steaks.
My husband and I both agree that this is the best steakhouse we have ever had! We highly recommend this place and it is totally worth the splurge. The food is mouth watering and the service was outstanding. The sun dried tomato bread tastes like pizza bread and comes with a soft butter. We split the chopped salad and they even split it into two servings for us and it was so good! I got the scallops and they are amazing over a mushroom risotto. My husband got the strip steak and it melts in your mouth. Fantastic experience overall and we hope to make it back someday!
Five star service and food
Four roses drink was great especially the rose frozen in the ice ball. Steaks were great, sides could have been better. Would definitely go back.
Very expensive for what you get. 4 dinners and a couple drinks each should not have cost $370.00 including tip. And I spent another $1,000 in the casino later that night. Probably won't be coming back.
Awesome food great service
I believe that the ambience of the restaurant was incredible. I would recommend it for happy couples, divorced couples trying to get together again, or even a quiet friendly get together. I love the restaurant and would gladly visit it again.
Mark and John were beyond amazing!!!
The food exquisite!!!
The reasons for not giving all 5 stars:
Host attempted to give us the worst table which blows my mind with these reservations made well in advance.
No acknowledgement of the birthday even though I indicated it on reservations
Noise level high and THE CIGARETTE SMOKE leaking in from the casino. Because of the cigarette smoke we will not come back
The food was good. Not what I was expecting. Overpriced.
Who knew this fabulous restaurant was tucked inside the Casino? The food was fabulous, ambiance perfect, service top notch and menu top notch. While this is far from everyday dining, we will definitely be back to Council Oaks!
Food &Service was excellent!
The food was outstanding as always. We did not have a good waitress. She was friendly enough, but did not follow up on our food. We waited 45 minutes for our food after we ordered. All we ordered was a steak and salad for each of us. We think our food was ready long before we got it. We had to ask a fellow setting up tables to check on our food. We got it very quickly after that. Basically our waitress disappeared on us once she was given a table of 6. I guess she figured she would get a lot bigger tip from that table, and we were therefore forgotten. This is the first time we have experienced this problem there, and we have eaten there 10-12 times.
Crab legs were great. Steaks were way off for texture and taste.
Service was ok, but not as good as in the past.
Great food and service!
This restaurant is very nice but extremely noisy extremely busy. The waitress who served us was amazingly nice, and let us know about y the food was delayed.
The front desk checkin lady needs to be warmer and nicer.
My friend had a great ribe cap, and my shrimp cocktail was very good. But my porterhouse was atrocious. Very hard to chew and it was not very tasty
I will give it another try because this was my first time there
The start was a little rocky. I had made reservations for 7:30. We arrived and checked in with the hostess. She stated she had a nice booth and we told her that was great. Well...people came in and were seated as we stood there. Finally, we went back to the hostess stand and asked if there was a problem. It was 7:45. Approximately 5 minites later we were escorted to our table. Unacceptable.
Our waiter was phenomenal...he made up for the poor start! He was knowledgeable, well versed and honest in his opinions. Thanks for making it a great night!
Council Oak does not disappoint when it comes to their steaks. Ours were aged properly, cooked to perfection, and succulent. The asparagus, baked potato and onion soup are what you would expect from a fine dining establishment. The chopped salad was to die for! We would come back just for this..amazing!
Food and service was great, but we could still smell the cigarette smoke from the casino area. Other than that, was excellent.
This is a Must Eat Restaurant! The Filet Mignon is outstanding. A true Filet with outstanding taste, texture, cooked to perfection! Salads, sides are huge & scrumptious! Appetizer shrimp are almost prawns! Service is outstanding!
As always, first class service, incredible dry aged steaks and perfect sides. Don’t miss the warm gooey butter cake for dessert!
We were disappointed in taste and tenderness of steaks, as steak seemed to be burned with charcoal on outside and really did not enhance the flavor. We have eaten at Council Oak before and it was great but this time we must say that the steak was no better than a steak we were served from Texas Roadhouse. One of us ordered a 20 oz ribeye and the other order the ribeye cap. The rest of the food which was lobster bisque and Caesar salad was excellent.
Although Oak is always great, I consider there steaks above Berns, Charlie's and Ruth Chris, they missed the boat on the King Crab this time. This was the first time in over 20 meals it was not perfect. Crab started out dry, actually stuck to shell, sent back, but the same legs came out, after they were dropped in water. I just think they were old or freezer burn maybe, we will be back, but stick to the steaks or the Calamari Lobster!!
Love this steakhouse. Service was great again. Only complaint is that the Bearnaise was not served warm. Food otherwise was excellent!
Good food but better service. Mark was a true professional.
The steak lived up to the hype. The Calamari/Lobster appetizer was okay. The Chopped Salads were okay. The Creamed Corn/Bacon was not good. The Onion Rings were good. I was not impressed with the ambiance. I thought it would be more romantic. I was overdressed for the occasion (it was Chili's/Applebee's casual). The restaurant is dark and quite loud. We spent 180.00 (no alcohol/dessert) and the whole experience fell short. I was expecting polished service and it was just okay. They didn't do anything wrong per se....but it was not what I have experienced at other upscale steakhouses. It was not worth the money. When making a reservation you are asked if there is a special occasion but no one at the restaurant followed up to see if there any special requests.
the food was wonderful. Had the bone in filet, cooked perfectly. All the sides were excellent except for the grilled octopus...the servers did a good job and they had the wine we like..all in all good experience.
Incredible food and service!
I can’t stand it when the steak is not cooked to order and has to be sent back. This was one of those times. I’ve had many good experiences. But just it as asked. Otherwise it ruins the entire meal.
Steaks are truly special. Great selection of meats. Attentive service. Always dependable
We were extremely happy with everything as we celebrated our 52nd anniversary with my brother-in-law and his wife. The waiter was helpful and knowledgeable. Couldn't have been nicer. The food exceeded our expectations. A lovely evening.
THE WORST MEAL I HAVE HAD AT A TAMPA RESTAURANT- I was really unimpressed by this place, I thought it was going to be 5 stars all around. The food was extremely salty, first came the appetizers, I had the lobster bisque... it was extremely salty but I powered through it and finished it. My date had the Bone in rib eye with a side of french fries and I had the grouper with a baked potato...... my date and I could not eat our meals after two bites.
Very good service and food was excellent !
Service exceptional. Cuts of meat outstanding. Seasoned fries overcooked. A bit loud for my taste.
I have always had a great experience and great food at Council Oak since I first tried it many years ago but tonight was hands-down the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant as nice as Council Oak is supposed to be. It started when my wife and I were told they removed our favorite appetizer from the menu, the charcuterie board, and we settled for something else and ended an hour later when we still had not received the main entree, which was one (1) filet mignon steak and truffle fries. The waiter completely blew it, realized he had forgot to put in the order and tried to cover by offering us a free drink. About 10 minutes after that promise (and no drinks...which had been empty for a while) we had decided it was no longer worth the wait and decided to leave. Once I could finally track the waiter down again, it was another 10 minutes before I could get the check for the drinks and appetizers we received in the hour before.
I should mention there were numerous empty tables and plenty of staff, just no desire by the waiter or management to do anything as little as check on a couple waiting that long for a simple steak. I’m probably not going back for a long while, which is a shame because I really like that place but to pull this on Valentine’s Day on a date night is just unforgivable. They may need to see some losses before anything changes.
Awesome filet, great ap of calamari
King crab was also excellent
Outstanding food and service. A bit pricey but worth it.
