Cotton Row Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The food and service at Cotton Row were absolutely outstanding. Our drinks were never close to being empty and the staff were very knowledgeable about the dishes. My main complaint is the seating design. I was led to believe this restaurant is one of the most romantic restaurants in Huntsville, so my fiance and I decided to eat here for Valentine's Day. We were seated right next to another couple, and could not hear our own conversation over the other couple talking. Not romantic, at all. I feel like seating could be a bit more spaced out to give a more romantic vibe. My other complaint is that the blackberries on the cheesecake made it inedible. I recommend straining the sauce.
We were promptly seated, however, our table was on the second floor in a converted apartment. We had to walk back out the front door into the pouring rain and around the building because there is no interior stairway to the second floor. Always request a main level table. Drink service was very slow. Food service was even slower. When my steak arrived I realized why it took so long. It was way over cooked. I had requested medium rare. I got well done plus. Sides and salads were mediocre. I have had excellent meals here in the past so I will give it another chance. However, there are at least two other quality options downtown that will gladly take my $200 for two of us.
I wanted to treat my four grown daughters to a fine dining experience. They loved the round table where we were seated. We all lead busy lives now so it was a way to slow down and catch up with each other, enjoy cocktails, wine, fine food and scrumptious desserts. The ambiance was superb. It’s an experience we’ll always remember.
We ate at Cotton Row the weekend before Valentine's Day. We didn't realize it at the time but assume that was the reason it was so crowded. They had 2 top tables lined up in a row about 12" apart. We were so crowded that I was closer to the man and woman at the surrounding tables than I was to my husband across the table. I can tell you all about their conversation b/c I heard every single bit of it.
The service wasn't great. We had to ask for menus. We got our drinks and bread when we started our meal. The waiter took the drinks for a refill when they were empty and never brought my husband's back. The food was amazing though! We had the filet special, and it was one of the best filets I've had. I would go again just for the food, but I would try and go on a weeknight when maybe they aren't so busy.
We were offered two specials of the day, one a filet and one a strip steak, both Wagyu beef raised in Cullman County. We did not request the price of the specials, as that was not my primary concern.
I selected the strip and received a steak full of gristle. That can happen occasionally with a strip, so I was not surprised and did not complain. Unfortunately, I received the bill and learned my steak was $60, which is almost twice the price of the other menu items, including filet mignon.
I am aware that daily specials often are more expensive than other menu items. But in my wildest dreams, I never expected to pay $60 for a steak that was comparable to a $15 steak at Applebee's. Likewise, I do think it is necessary to inform guests that a daily special is $60 when the other menu items are $30-$35. Otherwise, the guests are likely to feel deceived, even if the special is very good.
Otherwise, the food and experience were very good, as always.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Great dining experience.
Just on annoying issue, a light aimed at our table kept going bright and then went out and repeated itself, we brought it up to our hostess and she replied with the bulbs were changed the other day. Please not the customers concern when bulbs were changed, she should have stood at our area very politely and monitored the issue we were bringing to here attention.
My evening was perfect-a business dinner that allowed me to show off the best of Huntsville, and also enjoy a quiet atmosphere for important conversation. Service was impeccable and the combinations of flavors in all of the dishes was unique and unexpected. The (warm) peanut butter and jelly phyllo dessert w side of deep chocolate ice cream was an exquisite finale! Thank you.
I brought my daughter here for an elegant father/daughter evening (first visit to Cotton Row for both). Everything was absolutely wonderful! The staff was friendly, courteous, and attentive from the front door back. Every selection that we chose from the menu was beautifully composed and beyond delicious. The atmosphere itself was delightfully upscale yet comfortable. I really couldn’t say enough about how wonderful an experience it was to dine at Cotton Row, and I look forward to returning.
This is the best restaurant I have been to in a long time. Everything was just as you would hope and expect -- service was excellent, food was perfect, atmosphere was nice and the menu will tempt you to order things you might not otherwise try at another restaurant.
The fried green tomatoes were simply, perfect. I cannot imagine them being any better than they were. I would go back just to have that flavor on my pallet for a bit longer.
The scallops were meaty and cooked to perfection. I also had a small filet and, it too, was absolutely perfect. I keep using the word perfect for a reason here folks!
It is pricey, but worth every "perfect" bite!
Arrived early so we sat at the bar while our table was prepared. Conversation at bar was enjoyable and welcoming. Steaks were tender and flavorful. I took a chance on the Saffron Paella and was not dissapointed. Reservation was late so we went straight for the entree. After sitting at the bar for 45 minutes our table server asked if we wanted to start with a cocktail - pay attention. Seating preference in cellar did not work out but bartender graciously gave us a tour after our dinner. Delicious upscale dining in an intimate, welcoming atmosphere.
We dined with you on the night of 1/20.
2 out of 4 of our appetizers were barely edible. (octopus). 3 out of our 4 meals did not meet our expectations.
(Veal chop, short ribs, and Paella).
Restaurant temperature was extremely cold. Champagne ordered took almost 30 min to arrive. And we had to inquire about it.
My first visit to Cotton Row was a delight! We attended for a belated birthday celebration, and I was extremely pleased with the wonderful food selection and excellent wine list. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions and anniversary celebrations. The staff are extremely attentive and the ambiance is wonderful. Overall the experience was very quiet and private, just perfect for intimate dinner conversations. We never felt hurried and the staff treated us with a very European flair, very upscale and attentive to every detail. I will be back every chance I get!
The food was excellent, as usual. However, the service was a bit slow. After a very long wait, I had to summon the waiter and point out that it had been a very long time since I had ordered my salad. He agreed and said he would check to find out what the problem was. There was also a rather long wait to get the wine I had ordered and additional water. Another table seemed to be getting much the attention of the staff. I was a bit surprised, since the diners at that table did not appear to be the usual Cotton Row customers. Not meaning to be judgmental, but their dress and table manners were not what I’m accustomed to seeing at Cotton Row. It seemed that members of the staff might have known the diners, since they gathered around the table and chatted at length.
