Cotton Row is my favorite restaurant in town hands down. There were three of us dining . We all shared an appetizer of the oysters, and I love how they always put it on separate plates when you split something. It was delicious and ample and the remoulade was perfect. The entrees came next and this is where I was a bit disappointed. All three of us got different entrees and they were all too small for my taste. I promise they are never this small. I eat here often enough to know. My flounder has that perfect crust on it that only a good chef can manage and was perfectly cooked. The vegetables were good although a tad under seasoned. There was supposed to be a brown butter sauce and I never found it. I was disappointed about that. Mostly I just think the portions for the entrees needed to be larger. I’m a 125 pound woman and it shouldn’t be that hard to satisfy me. You don’t even have to necessarily increase the size of the protein, but it costs almost nothing to increase the size of potatoes and most other veggies. Please take this part into consideration because I have never had an issue with the sizes of entrees here. My husband had the scallops and my son the salmon. All were perfectly cooked. The salmon seemed to have a lot of flavor with the harissa spices. I’ve had the scallops many times so I just took one quick bite and it was delicious. I was still hungry at this point which is not a good sign after having bread and champagne as well. We all had desert. They were perfect! I had the dark caramel crunch cake which I have had before and it did not disappoint. The crunchy homemade toffee is to die for and the chocolate crunch cake was perfect. My husband and son got the lemon dessert which was layered and just delicious. I had some of it. The desserts are good proportions. The service was very good. They were a little slow at the very beginning but quickly made up for it. I love the coat check and valet and having my napkin refolded when leaving and returning
Food was totally bland. Adding salt and pepper didn’t help much. Assisting servers provided more of an upscale restaurant vibe than the lead server.
Pretty atmosphere but the food consistently disappoints.
I absolutely love this place. Warm, inviting atmosphere and great service. I had the braised short rib and it was superb. Also a wide selection of wines as well. Will definitely be coming here again.
Fabulous food and service. A true gem in Huntsville!
Bravo!! This was a great fine dining experience. The food quality was excellent and the ambiance was cozy and warm. Great place for a date or anniversary, Highly recommend it!
Lovely atmosphere and beautifully presented and extremely delicious food. Excellent service also.
My husband and I decided to splurge and enjoy a nice meal. I ordered a cocktail off their menu and he had a draft beer. We each ordered an appetizer. Fried green tomatoes were really good and the best part of my meal. He had a seafood chowder. It was ok. I ordered the scallops. The scallops were nicely done but the rest of the dish was hard to eat. The gnocci was hard to chew and the entire dish was way oversalted. My husband had the shortribs on grits. He said that it tasted like potroast over grits, good but nothing special. The bread served was 2 small, really hard rolls that were hard to eat. For dessert I ordered the creme brulee. Again, nothing special, I've had better. He ordered the chocolate crunch cake. I think he would agree that was the best part of his meal. I had a dessert coffee... hard to mess that up, he had a cup of regular coffee. Our tab with tip was around $175. Nothing about the meal was worth that ticket. I will however say that our waitress was excellent so we tipped her accordingly even though we weren't impressed with the food.
The pasta started made us very sick once we got home.
Great restaurant and great staff. Ambience is great and food is as well. Will definitely come here again
Great food, great service, very accommodating.
The halibut was delicious
A little pricey. Some of the lunch entrees looked like a tapas restaurant. EXCELLENT FOOD & Service
My mom and I ejoyed a great brunch in the outside seating area. The food and the service was exceptional.
A perfect meal, a great table and venue, great staff
The staff was friendly and accomodating, even to the point of pulling out my wife's chair and offering to hang her coat. The waiter made great suggestions, which we followed, and which did not disappoint. My wife and I shared a nice complimentary champagne toast for our anniversary, followed by a beautiful and tasty charcuterie tray with hand-broken bread and tasty spring water. I had the Duck Trio, which was presented quite nicely with sides of white beans and greens, while my wife thoroughly enjoyed her main course of scallops.
The price was surprisingly reasonable, making our only regret the fact that we did not have time for desert. next time - cheesecake!
Lovely Anniversary Dinner! It’s so lovely, the ambiance is perfect, and the food is delicious.
Excellent service amazing food and wonderful romantic ambiance with Sinatra and Buble music in the background ! My husband and I will be back !!
Outstanding as always
Cozy place to walk into on a stormy night in Huntsville . It was a classy experience from the moment we met the valet out front until we left two hours later. Historic brick walls , well dressed servers, and windows with a view of the first national bank built in 1836 contributed to the ambience . The food was excellent. The flounder I had reminded me of a similar dish served at the Atchafalaya located in the garden district of New Orleans.
Service was good, the food was good, but the bathroom cleanliness was substandard for a decent restaurant.
The Sunday brunch was excellent and service was super.
Spent the evening with my wife to celebrate her Birthday and our 31st Wedding Anniversary. The Service was great, the food was great but believe the menu could use a few more selections.
I was hoping for a little more intimacy rather than being seated so near the bar but it was comfortable.
Took my family out for a thank you dinner while visiting and had a wonderful experience. While the cost was a bit high for a random dinner outing, the service, food and overall experience was wonderful and made our family night out one to remember.
We went on a Monday night for a birthday. We had a chowder and lobster ravioli as starters. The chowder was very good, and had obviously soaked up a lot of smoky flavor from pork belly/bacon that was used in it. The ravioli had a delightful creamy sauce on it, but it was didn't hold up well to following the soup. Wine list was nice. Entrees we had were the scallops and the filet. Scallops were cooked well, but oversalted. Filet was ordered med-rare, came out med-rare in a very nice red wine sauce. Overall, service was middling average and the experience was nice, but somewhat underwhelming for price.
We had a wonderful early dinner on our anniversary. Our wait staff was first class. The food was delicious. Look forward to a return to Cotton Row.
Didn't know what to expect as it was our 1st time in the area. The service was excellent, caring for our needs. The food was fantastic and prepared perfectly. Looking forward to our next visit to Huntsville!
We have been to CR multiple times. It has been a family favorite for years. However, I sensed the kitchen was understaffed this time. We arrived at 6, put our order in by 6:05 and we didn't get our food until 7:05. Though the company was great and the ambiance fabulous, we did not count on a 1 hr wait. We had to literally inhale our food in order to make it out on time for the Symphony. In the future we will allow more time for our dining experience at CR. However, 1 hr seemed a bit excessive of a wait for Salmon and Flounder; no liquor, no dessert, no salad.
We left the restaurant feeling hungry.
The best meal I have EVER had! I had the grilled romaine salad and scallops with spinach and gnocchi. I can't say enough about the ambiance outside, wait staff and chefs. I live in the D.C. area and have eaten at authentic restaurants all over the world. This was such a great way to taste Huntsville. Can't recommend this place enough!
We were seated immediately and had a lovely dining experience! Jared and the other staff are friendly, very competent, and clearly all work well together. We ordered a fried green tomatoes, oysters, seven wonders salad, the rib tips, the filet mignon, the veal chop, chocolate lava cake, the chocolate toffee crunch cake, and the artisanal PB&J reimagined dessert. It was a feast, and no one was sad about their life choices.
Table seating was a little close and we did not get bread until we had finished our meal, but the food was good and we enjoyed the evening.
We had brunch with our son and daughter-in-law. Everything was delicious.
Excellent service from Quin
The food was great, the service was very disappointing.
We have come often and have had better experiences in the past. I suspect that much depends on the server and the manager.
A friend had raves about how good the food and service was at Cotton Row. It was not our experience. We waited 10-15 min to get menus and drink orders. Waited nearly as long to get drinks. We place our orders and waited 15 for appetizers, not bad. When the main course arrived 30+ min later, 2 Steaks were so cold the herb butter didn’t melt. One was under cooked but eatable, good taste and warm. Other was not a prime cut, even thought that was the order and guest was not pleased with flavor. I guess we were the only guest that were disappointed everyone else seemed to be happy. There were only about 5 table seated but it was later in the evening.
Firing on all cylinders! Food was beautiful and tasty; service top-notch!
Really great food and a super good wine selection. My 6 out of town guests were very complimentary of the meal overall. As the host, I was thought our server was a bit slow, not keeping glasses full and slow with the check. Might have been lunch of the draw, though, normally this is not the case and Cotton Row is my choice for best in town.
