Cotto Wine Bar Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We have recently discovered Cotto, and have been back three times since. Easily one of our favorite restaurants in Stamford - the food is great, the staff are very friendly and professional and it’s a great atmosphere. Highly recommended for an intimate dinner or brunch
Met up with a friend here for a late lunch & some wine. We ended up staying for a few hours (probably longer than expected) but the staff were so kind and attentive. Everything we ordered was delicious (Cote D'Azur shrimp, Grilled Octopus, Prosciutto e burrata, Gnocchi alla diva, & Pizza chocotto).
Service A++, Atmosphere A++, Food A++ - will definitely be visiting again!
Wine-friendly with good value. What I appreciated the most is that Cotto Wine Bar took the wine part of their name seriously and allowed me to bring a special bottle of wine from my collection and pay a corkage fee to have it served. That's why I'm giving them four stars. And they carefully decanted the wine into a nice decanter as I requested. We ordered a bottle of prosecco to start the meal - so we also purchased wine from the restaurant.
As a foodie with high standards, the food is okay. It's not a destination food place, but it's good italian food served at a decent price. The service was a little slow at times, but the quality of service was good. At the end of the evening, for a table of 7, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the bill including tip only cost ~$400. The fact that this is such a wine-friendly restaurant is what will bring me back again.
This was a disappointing experience all around. We had a 12:45 lunch reservation and didn’t get seated until almost 1:30. When we finally did get seated it was at a cold table by the door. We weren’t seen by a waitress for at least another 10 minutes and our food- mostly pizzas- was extremely slow in coming out. I was there with four colleagues for a holiday lunch and was apologizing by the end of the meal for my choice in restaurant. Sorry, but this one really missed the mark.
As always, great dinner at Cotto. The food was outstanding. The menu changed with less Italian tapas / small plates and more main course dishes. We still found some old favorites and enjoyed a few new main offerings. It’s now more of a traditional dinner experience and we preferred the old small plate concept. But will be back for the food anyway!
Food was very good. Unfortunately, the staff kept asking if we wanted to order. After the 4th time and 10 minuets sitting we ordered our appetizers. For the next 20 minuets we were asked 3 times, did we want to order the entree. We did and it was very good. After we were asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. We said no and we’re handed our check before we finished our wine. Would we go back, probably not. Our total time at this restaurant was 75 minuets. We could have had a more relaxing dinner at a fast food restaurant. Staff needs training. Too bad as the food was good
Extremely well prepared food served at a relaxed pace. The restaurant is on a small street and has nice outdoor seating which we used. The bucatini pasta may have been the best pasta I ever tasted, and I really love pasta. The tapas we ordered, octopus and lamb were good, but not outstanding. Overall good quality, best for adults, not kids, good for a date or happy hour.
My first visit will NOT be my last. I invited friends from out of town for dinner and they enjoyed there dinner, thoroughly. Enrique, the bartender is a MASTER of the craft. The meals where not enormous. Just the right size. The entire staff was courteous and friendly. No question, we will be back.
Staff is EXTREMELY attentive, my wine glass was never empty and I never had a dirty dish in front of me. Food was amazing, the atmosphere in general is vibrant but mellow at the same time. Great wine deals and live music on certain days. This is one of my new favorite places for sure!
The food at Cotto is always great and I enjoy it each time! This time around, we had service that was pretty slow. In our group of 4, one of the entree dishes (which was going to be shared by 2 people) was forgotten and when we notified them a bit after the other 2 people received their entrees and began eating, it was obvious that the meal was never put in. It took another 20 minutes for the last entree to come in and the other people at the table finished their meals by then. The staff apologized, but didn't take anything off the bill or offer anything for the inconvenience, which I thought was not the best service. We were all patient and accepting of the situation, but it would be nice if they acknowledged it with a dessert or a drink, etc. We did order a dessert and although it was delicious, it also took quite some time to get out. It felt as if our waiter would come to us, take an order, and then disappear for 15-20 minutes.
We had tapas that night and every thing we ordered was delicious and perfectly cooked and seasoned. Food was fresh and came quickly. It was a weekday night so it wasn't too crowded. The service was great-attentive and professional. Ian, the manager, was really friendly. Would recommend.
This is a cozy restaurant that offers Italian-inspired tapas of many forms and food groups. Besides the tapa dishes, they also have the more conventional-sized dinner portions, which include pasta dishes. They offer live music on Thursday nights with no cover charge so check their website to see who is playing. Staff are friendly and courteous. Each of the dishes, from brussel sprouts to muscles to octopus and lamb were cooked perfectly. It was the first time I had grilled octopus where it wasn't burnt and dry.
Overall, it was a great experience!
