Valentine’s Day
The wait staff was great. It was Saturday night so the noise level was high. Some food came out luke warm. The wine list is extensive and impressive.
Great food. Slow service.
Everything was good but a little too crowded for COVID times
Food was good. Service was rushed. Did not feel people were seated appropriate 6 foot distance apart.
Absolutely terrible experience
Service was chaotic.
The Barman who was initially our server was extremely good at looking busy while all the time avoiding eye contact.
Our next server was “hard to find” also
Wonderful evening! We chose to eat outdoors and it was great!!! We dressed in our winter coats, warm boots, and gloves, we really added to the evening!! Food was delicious, and our waiter, Ryan, was very funny and attentive!
This was our first trip to Providence! What a gem!! We were able to see the charming Christmas tree lighting and sat indoors on a night that turned windy. Our meals (tagliatelle Bolognese, gnocchi with lobster! And chicken parm) were all delicious. The location of this restaurant is the best on Federal Hill. It was a special treat! Wait staff was attentive and personable. We hope to return!!!
Nice eating on the plaza..
Food does get cold quickly
We picked up our son at the train station and needed a lunch before tackling the two-hour drive home. We just had to fill a need and were very pleasantly surprised. Good wine, best arancini I’ve ever had and a server who made our day. All this with COVID restrictions. I’d love to try this restaurant after the pandemic is over.
Went to lunch on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, sat outside by the fountain, very nice ambiance! Food was good, not spectacular, just good. Our server was ok, not the best, at times curt and at times not very knowledgeable (maybe she was new).
OK experience.
Perfect location to spend a beautiful fall afternoon with a good friend.
Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Waiter was very attentive and accommodating. We will be back.
We have been going to Venda for years and always have an excellent experience.
Last night the female vocalist was SO loud I couldn’t have a conversation with my husband. She was screaming in my ear.
The food took a long time, chicken park was Luke warm and drinks took to long to get.
Server was good.
We were there at 4:45 PM so it was not outrageously busy. We sat for 20 minutes and no one came to serve us. We asked a hostess if someone was coming. We still sat. We finally got a waitress but she pointed out that we were not one of her tables. We waited long periods of time for drinks, an appetizer that never came, our entrees and additional drinks. The entire episode took over 2 hours. For 2 people that is unreasonable. The waitress was nice but not attentive as we were not her table. The food was very good. Absolutely horrendous service on the part of the restaurant.
It was perfect, except they forgot to indicate that I showed up for my reservation so I was contacted by OT asking why I didn’t show up. I was there, on time 4pm!
Great meal outdoor on the plaza.
I wanted to support alfresco on the hill. I've heard good things about Costantino's so hoping we just didn't have the best experience this time because that happens. 1st the bus boy pretty much threw the plate for oil on table. We had bread & oil with no napkins for at least 10 minutes which is how long it took our waiter to come over. You have to scan the bar code for menu, which I get due to Covid but you gotta scroll through 8 pages to get to appetizers. On your phone with small print. The tagliate di salumi was disappointing for $19.50.
The pizza was good, bit over cooked. The drinks were good also. Overall for what we had I think it was quite pricey.
It was such a pleasant all-round experience.
The food was okay, it was very salty. I’ve never tasted salt like that on salmon and chicken. The taste was lingering for hours. Waiter was great, ambiance was great. But to pay close to $100 for two people and eat such salty food, eh.
Service was horrible no attempt made to wait on us at all. It was a cold night repeatedly asked about turning the heater on. Told us heater was out of gas. Yet empty tables nearby had heaters burning away. Never brought out utensils or napkins till prompted. We ran out of water between appetizers asked for more non was ever brought.
The one bright spot was the food.
Amazing food & experience! Would definitely recommend!
Food lacked flavor and portion sizes were small.
The location and ambience is top in the area however they seem to be short staffed my family got their dinner 10 minutes before I did . waiting was not an option we were dining al fresco and it was getting cold fast. Server did apologize for the delay in Mistake but could’ve offered at least a dessert. The meal I had was veal
Piccata it was super super lemony very salty also the veal was coated in flour and that was kind of lumpy it was chewy. I ate not even a quarter of my dish they asked if I wanted to wrap it up I said no they should’ve noticed that I did not like it. The service is really lacking. Our water glasses has dirty lip stains on it they did not look properly cleaned .. We did get a pizza for appetizer and that was pretty good my daughter daughter got the pumpkin ravioli and loved it and my husband ordered the pasta with broccoli Rabbe and sausage he said it was good.. Please keep in mind my reviews are super picky because we are a family that cooks at home and are In the Italian restaurant industry. We are Italian and picky born in Italy raised in ny..
Overall a great night. Outside seating, servers were covering a lot of ground between both kitchens. One appetizer was a bit oily but the meal was great and never disappoints.
Excellent outdoor dining, with attentive waiters and great food, weather permitting.
Outdoor dining by the fountain creates the ambiance needed to forget that you have not traveled abroad for a long time. Service was personal and helpful. As an early lunch on a partly sunny day, it was wonderful to eat crispy calamari, enjoy glasses of wine, and other appetizers that are reasonably priced and delicious.
Took forever to get our food and when we did my dish was overwhelmingly salty. I've eaten the same dish here only weeks earlier and had a totally different (very good) service and food experience. Will be cautious about returning given the inconsistency.
Waitress could have been more attentive
Was our 8th year wedding anniversary
Outdoor seating near the beautiful waterfall in the square was perfect....
The espresso martini and Pinot were both good ($23) for the pair.....reasonable
Eggplant appetizer was very tasty!!
Mushroom arancini was enjoyable.....
The chicken saltimbocca should be skipped— bland and without taste.....
The 2 servers were nice and friendly.... Slow for the amount of people that they were helping, but the ambiance and my company helped..... (about hour and a half for lunch)....
In my reservation, I asked that if anything could be done for my bride on this visit, it would be appreciated.....
Nothing happened which was disappointing....
We got cannolis to go and the waitress said to me privately that if I got them to go, she would’ve written on the plate=
Very disappointing-
Delicious food and great service
The most iconic restaurant on Providence's famed Atwells Ave., and deserving of its fine reputation. The food is outstanding, and the prices reasonable. Some of the staff are young and seem to be inexperienced, so we had some small problems with the host and busboys, but our waiter was gracious and helpful, smoothing everything out. Due to it's popularity, reservations are a must, and the ambiance tends to be a bit exuberant, but if you know this going in, you will have an overall enjoyable experience, and some really fine dining. Recommended: Pollo Saltambucca, Lobster Ravioli, and for dessert the Cannoli platter.
I am vegan and gluten free, and the staff made me a new meal to suit my needs! Super appreciative of all restaurants that do this, so props to them.
Wonderful food lots of outdoor dining, unmatchable location, great live Italian music!
It was a great experience specially in this time ..
Tables were neatly spaced to 6ft.. food was amazingly delicious specially the calamari and pizza. The drink choices are really good.. Intresting cocktail to give a try as well.
Love the experience.
Terrible experience! Arrived on time for a 6:45 reservation and at 8:15 still did not have even a slice of bread! Meals arrived piece-meal and we finally left at 10:15, totally frustrated and disappointed
We went during the Italian Heritage weekend. It was very busy but fun. Our waiter wanted to serve our bottle of wine in plastic cups. When we declined , he was able to find small drinking glasses instead. That was so nice of him
Went on a Saturday night, not realizing Atwells Ave was blocked off for a festival. Finally found a parking spot and made it to the restaurant. Seated promptly. Ordered drinks which came quickly. Ordered dinner which the waiter did not write down which always impresses me except he came back twice to confirm our order and then when it can was not exactly as we asked for. I had a $25 open table coupon which the waiter said he did not know how to take off. Said he would go ask and came back 10 minutes later with the same bill without the $25 off. Did not get the 100 points for the reservation because I was using the $25 off and ended up getting neither. Over we like it here and will be back, just maybe got an off waiter.
A great outdoor meal on the Square.
