Costanera Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We always love coming here. We used OpenTable to get a reservation because on Fridays it can be very crowded. I really appreciate the hostess who at first was going to seat a couple who had no reservation in front of us. When she realized that we had a reservation and gave us the better choice of a table. Service is great, octopus salad is excellent as is grilled steak!!!
1st time dining in Montclair and I lucked out finding this gem. Helps to be adventurous eaters and the menu did not disappoint. From authentic appetizers to hearty, comforting main courses including excellent vegetarian option. Topped off with innovative Peruvian dessert.
I Had a reservation at 6:45pm. The hostess took my name and didn't say anything back until I approach him 15min later asking for my table. He said he was waiting for one table to leave . I wait other 15 min the table left and he sat another couple and never apologize for the wait. Terrible service. I left.
My wife is VERY picky with regard to how her fish is cooked. The owner discussed it with her and assured her it would meet her desire or he would replace with any other dish. The fish was cooked perfectly. The grilled octopus special was outrageously delicious. Lovely time.
We met friends for dinner on Saturday night. We had reservations and we were promptly seated as soon as we arrived. Service was excellent and the food was great. We had steak, fish and lamb. Everything was cooked perfectly and it was very tasty. Portions are large and very reasonably priced. You can bring your own wine.
A return visit on a typically-slow Monday night....Not such a slow night at Costanera--except for the service. A repeat circumstance since our last visit.... It's very frustrating because the food is really good. Shrimp soup, pollo alla brasa, Andino salad, ceviche....Great.
We are no strangers to Costanera having dined here at least a dozen times with friends and family. It never fails to deliver the freshest dishes in a creative blend of spices and ingredients. The portions are plentiful. We often get two appetizers (my favorite is the fish fritters) and one entree per two people. And of course, you can not pass up the dessert, especially the soaked vanilla cake. The service is wonderful and timely, and the decor is causal and regional looking. Worth trying!
Dinner for 4 after seeing a movie right down the street at the Claridge Cinema. Cannot beat the location. Appetizers were large enough to share but I would not recommend the causas--too much mashed potatoes. I would recommend the fish fritters. We got the black angus rib eye which was delicious. The desserts are also great.
Ah, where do I begin? The warm octopus salad that I always start with? The crisp, thick yuca fries? The falling off the bone Short Rib over potatoes? My husband and my friend loved the Mixed Seafood dish. The rich, dense flan? The delectable Tres Leches cake?
Friendly, beautiful tree bark rounds on the walls, cozy atmosphere, but not claustrophobic.
Just go. You will not regret it.
Costanera Restaurant continues to be one of our all time favorites. Easily accessible in Montclair,NJ. It provides a comfortable vibe with Peruvian and Spanish cuisine inspired menu. Definitely try their Costanera Ceviche as an appetizer and if they are offering the Braised Short Rib special entree, don't pass it up. Staff is always helpful & friendly.
The food was exceptional, especially the sauces and ceviche. The service was friendly and helpful, however we were never told there were specials and we sometimes had long waits between courses and for the bill. It was possibly because of some large groups that came in at about the same time.
We will definitely be back.
