Quaint little place. The whole menu looked good so was tough to make a choice! Even had good French onion soup. Enjoyed our meal!
Service, attention , and food were amazing. We will definitely go back.
My friend recommended the restaurant as one of her favorites in the city. The owner (or manager) was extremely pleasant and enjoyed talking w us and all the diners at different tables. We both ordered the bouillabaisse, which was very good, and the wine (a red, selected by my friend , the name of which I’ve forgotten) was light and wonderful, w a reasonable price of $12 per glass. Overall, my experience there was outstanding, and I look forward to returning.
Trout entree was disappointing
We were looking for a place for friends to catch up with a late lunch, not too noisy, with good food. Coasta Brava Bistro fit our needs very well. The noise level did increase as the restaurant filled but we were ready to leave. Very satisfied.
Celebrated our sixteenth anniversary here on Saturday night. I will sum it up in a single word - outstanding! The attention to detail, the personal attention given to us by owner/chef Kitty, the amazing meal and wine pairings prepared for us and the truly wonderful time we spent there that night will be a occasion we will remember forever. A local gem we have been fortunate to discover. One to which we will return.
Great restaurant. An adult place to dine with great food and quiet enough to have a conversation. Well trained and informed waitstaff. One of our favorites.
Delightful as always. Intriguing special appetizers and entrees as well as numerous attractive offerings on the regular menu. Service is nicely attentive without being intrusive. Another plus:
dinner conversation can be conducted in a normal speaking voice.
One of the best restaurants in Houston
This was a first visit but won’t be the last. The special app peppers were fantastic and I enjoyed. The paella and my friend was very pleased with the snapper. Our desserts were terrific - apple tart and the manchego cheesecake. The service was friendly though our drinks didn’t arrive until mid -entree. It was quite busy at the bar.
Food was great and the restaurant was lovely.
My wife and I had another great dinner at Costa Brava. There isn't anything not to like about this great restaurant in Bellaire. The food is excellent and the service is also. The menu is quite diverse with a lot of choices , so the hard part is making a decision. They have an excellent wine selection of Italian and Spanish reds. I had the red snapper and my wife had the grilled veal. Both dishes were fantastic.
One of the best dining experiences I've had in years. The food was creative and excellent. The staff was very welcoming and provided great service.
Great food and people!
What a gem! Quiet, not crowded with adult background music
and excellent food. I had the quail, as good as I have ever eaten, my wife had the ribeye tasty but with gristle because she orders it
very very rare.
Still defiantly a do again. Cannot belief we waited five years before trying it. Don’t u be as dumb as I was thinking they can’t cook in Bellaire, this restaurant is too notch.
The place is advertised as a Spanish restaurant with a French twist where they promise you will ‘experience the Spanish and French cuisine’... who ever wrote this statement after tasting the food, has no earthly idea of what Spanish or French cuisine is.
Let me start by saying that I am Italian, born in Naples; have been numerous times in Spain and France, and have a culinary background.
We ordered Escargots and the Galician style octopus; both dishes were insipid; the escargots had a sauce that tasted of raw flour, the octopus had no salt at all and just a sprinkle of paprika. Pimentón, or paprika, is one of the main spices for this dish.
Then we requested the grilled trout over cuscus and the paella, their stellar dish. The fish was mediocre, it was frozen fish that was thawed perhaps this morning; the paella was everything but a paella. It was made with arborio rise, which is used for risotto, and was undercooked. Needles to say, I sent the dish back and asked to have the lamb chops, rare...
The lamb chops arrived cold, and the meat was blue in the center; perhaps the Chef’s appreciation of ‘rare’ is different that mine... I tried to eat the pieces that were not raw, but the taste was too strong for fresh meat. I left the dish after two bites.
Then deserts came, the ‘cream Catalana’ was a creme brûlée, a simple custard with caramelized sugar in top, far from what a true ‘Crema Catalana’ is, but I need to say that the manchego cheese cake is a master piece, a true delight, it is simply impossible to describe how good it is. I think this desert was worth the entire $180 bill.
As a summary, if I ever go back, it will be only to ask for a glass of Perrier and a manchego cream cheese, nothing else on the menu is worth eating.
My respectful suggestion to the chef is to research the menu a bit better... it is misleading to advertise Spanish food with a French twist when the food is far from resembling anything from overseas.
We’ve been going back many times never a bad experience. Love the Spanish atmosphere
Great gazpacho!! Service great! Local neighborhood ambiance!
Consistently one of the best place to have a lovely meal.
One of my favorite restaurants in Houston because of the great food and excellent service. Easy to overlook because of its location in a strip shopping center but well worth finding and enjoying.
Creative dishes with attractive presentation. Waiter was very attentive.
Love size of the restaurant and noise level is manageable. Food and service hard to beat.
Always a fine meal.
Unimposing strip-mall exterior, but don't be fooled by external appearances. Inside, the ambiance is wonderful (very European) and the food is terrific. So is the service.
It's always a great experience at Costa Brava, but last night was even more wonderful than normal. Those may have been the finest lamb chops I've ever had in my life, and that's saying something because I didn't think they could get better than the last time I had them at Costa Brava.
The food at Costa Brava is consistently superb. It's the first place I think of for birthday lunches. Love the prix fixe menu!
All really good
It's always a great evening, and this was no exception.
I really enjoyed my experience there. Nice and cozy place so tasty the food. I will highly recommend it to my friends.
Outstanding experience, we will be back!
Amazing attention to detail. A true get for Spanish/French food.
A peaceful oasis in the Houston maelstrom
This had to be one of the best meals I've ever had--lamb Wellington with creamed spinach and a chocolate bread pudding for dessert. My husband had a romaine salad, shrimp and scallops and the bread pudding. He said the salad was excellent and the scallops were as good as any he's had. We travel around the world and eat out a lot. Service was excellent, ambiance was lovely. A thoroughly exceptional evening.
Attentive service by management and wait staff
Very good food and value
Definitely a neighborhood gem
This small neighborhood gem has become our favorite restaurant in Houston. Attention to quality, authentic Spanish cuisine, wonderful service and great prices make it a standout. Bravo!
First dinner experience there and I see why everyone likes it so much. First, you are so kindly greeted when you arrive. This really feels like you are welcomed into a home of a neighborhood friend. It was hopping, totally full and busy at the bar, but still, the noise level was fine and it remained very relaxing. Food...superb. Beautiful presentation and stellar service with good recommendations if needed. Three of the party had specials. They all sounded delicious as wonderful additions to an already appealing menu. Two folks had lamb wellington; one had the duck over cassoulet; I had the menu red snapper. Simply divine. I can't imagine any bad choices here. This is a lovely little neighborhood gem and we were greeted and thanked just as warmly upon leaving a delicious and easy evening.
Celebrating a birthday and all in all good experience. One person in party ordered 12 oz ribeye which was rather tough. Not easy to cut with steak knife. They didn’t want to cause a problem by telling management but have had better steaks purchased from local grocer.
Always a pleasure to eat here. The most delicious gazpacho in town.
Fabulous snapper and scallops.
I have always wanted to try this hidden gem! I was not disappointed. Octopus was tender and tasty. Trout was great and so it was the Salmon my wife ordered. Great overall experience. We'll be back soon!
Costa Bravo is our go to tapas restaurant. The dishes and service are always good every time we dine there.
It's a cozy restaurant so make sure you make reservations since it's a packed house.
