Cosmos at Loews Minneapolis Hotel Ratings and Reviews
The buffet was very, very good. Comes with made to order omelette, we declined the omelette.
But there was plenty of food. Everything about this meal was excellent. Hats off to our waiter Daniel, we arrived just in time to witness something, not going to say what, But Daniel handled it extremely well. Yep its a little pricey, But in my honest opinion, its so worth it.
YES, YES, YES. Started out with Shrimp cocktail. Then received sushi on a cucumber slice, with a few other things on top. I had the Chicken Wild rice soup(Best soup ever tasted). Then comes the Palette cleanser. Main coarse was Beef Tenderloin medium rare as suggested. With our check we received a raspberry tort ball, it must have a little cream cheese in it because my wife didn't like it, LUCKY for me.
This was one of the best meals I have ever eaten
Nice looking place with good service and reasonable prices, but there were only 4 entrees on the menu! We had the chicken and the salmon, and they were both very good, but I had my heart set on the scallops that were listed in the online menu and also featured on a poster in the elevator. I expected more choices. On the positive side, the place was nearly empty, so getting a reservation and evening changing it was easy. We also thought the little extras appetizers they treated us to were very fun. Even the tea was served in exotic little pyramids. A classy place to eat, if you don't need a lot of choices.
We went for Mother's Day brunch. The array of food choices were wonderful. Every dish was prepared well, tasted good, and the service was top-notch. Ever since the Airport Hilton stopped having its special brunch on Mother's Day, we've been looking for a replacement. The one at Cosmos was equally as delightful. Not as many food choices at the Hilton used to have, but certainly equal or better in quality and taste. I truly hope Cosmos continues offering special brunches like this for other occasions - e.g. Easter, Father's Day, and any other occasion they can think of. Great job and a superb buffet.
We had brunch at Cosmos for Mother's Day. Overall, the food was just so-so. The eggs benedict were overcooked (yet not warm), the onions in the spinach salad were insanely vineger-y, etc. The service wasn't great, either. The host who sat us at our table felt compelled, for some reason, to announce how much the brunch cost for each person. Then he took the knives from my children's place settings without asking. Even though my kids are too young for knives themselves, it would have been nice to not have to use my own on their meals so that all my food didn't have to taste like maple syrup. We also had to ask a different waiter for water, as we didn't see our guy much.
I love this restaurant. The food is stellar. Menu offers an excellent variety of food for the gourmet to the more grounded fare. Burger is THE best while the Crispy Skin Salmon and Mushroom Risotto--MWAH. It is not overcrowded, which is not so good for the bottom line but wonderful if you enjoy conversation during dinner!
Very disappointed with cosmos after reading great reviews. Some food was good. Charcuterie plate was good though we were not told anything about it. The intermezzos were fun and enjoyable. Hanger steak was a good solid choice, scallops were far too salty. Service was sub par. Our server did not seem familiar with the menu or how things were prepared. But we did get a free dessert for a birthday. We will not return and we would not recommend Cosmos.
Very good food, with locally sourced and grown ingredients. The menu is a nice change from what a lot of others are serving. Definitely on the healthier side, the food had excellent flavor. They don't have a large craft beer menu, but offer a few local favorites. Great place to go before a Target Center event, they have valet parking as well, which makes getting home a bit quicker. I would only suggest they add some art work or color, as there is a lot of brown going on.
Good place to grab an drink and maybe have a business dinner. Food tries to be fancy but is just ok. Staff is Ok, friendly enough but order was scattered and they forgot the sides. Drinks were ok asked for a gimlet with fresh lime juice and i got straight up vodka with a lime. Oh Well, but location convenient for a concert.
The night we went it was very loud, due to a company party. So I imagine it's not always that loud.... The food is good, nothing spectacular though. Prices are pretty high and you don't get a side with your dinner, you pay separately for a side IF you want one, which cost $6.00 on up. I asked for my steak rare and it came out more med-rare, thank goodness it wasn't cooked anymore than that. I'm not much for complaining, but when a steak is that spendy..... it should be done right. Service was great & friendly! Our server made sure our food came out fast, since we had a concert to go to right next door. We were impressed with that. The manager also came by to make sure everything was good, it was nice to feel taken care of. The ambiance is nice, it has a very modern feel to it.
I'd definitely like to go back and try something other than a steak..
We went for Christmas dinner. Our reservation was for 5:00. We expected the regular menu and the 3 course Christmas fixed price menu. When we got to the restaurant there was a table of four and one of two already eating. The waiter explained it was only the Christmas menu which had four entree options. Then he explained that they were out of the Pheasant, which left a pasta, scallops or steak. That was disappointing and surprising so early in the evening with an empty restaurant. We determined chicken could be substituted.
The salad was fine, the presentation nice, and bread quite good. When my "pheasant / chicken" arrive it looked like a piece of chicken you would get on an airplane. The side vegetable was sliced succotash - which was barely cooked and still crunchy. Yellow plus yellow on a white plate. The desserts were OK. For $60 I was not impressed.
The service was friendly and attentive. And the space modern and nicely decorated.
Food took an extremely long time to come out. When it did, half of the people's food was cold. The steaks that were sent back that were ordered Med Rare came back Medium Well. We did let the staff know but nothing was done to make it right. I had short ribs and was expecting amazing food for the price, instead it was overcooked and just OK.
We have tried to dine here a couple of times when we traveled to Minneapolis, but it never worked out. We had heard good things, but were wary due to its location as a hotel restaurant (and the atmosphere is a bit lacking, but not horrible.) The regular menu looks nice, but others had recommended the chef's tasting menu. The chef actually comes out to your table to talk about your likes, dislikes, how many courses you would like, etc. They don't have a sommelier, but the wine buyer and your waiter work together to make up wine parings. We gave them a bit of direction and then the entire rest of the meal was a surprise. And a wonderful surprise it was! Every course was delicious and paired beautifully with the wines. The price at the end of the evening was very reasonable for what we were served--we expected it to cost more than it did.
We will definitely return. Our waiter (and the chef) told us to ask for the chef's table the next time for a more intimate experience.
