Cosmos at Loews Minneapolis Hotel Ratings and Reviews
Valentine dinner was a gross disappointment. Mixed up service; no delivery of the wine pairings with each course; Overly salty food; Inattentive service. 3 successive errors on the final bill. THis restaurant is way past mediocre and should be avoided until new management or some major change is completed and proven.
What a waste of $$.
The service was unfriendly and incredibly slow. It took 30 minutes before the waitress came for our drink orders and for some reason we were only given food menus. This caused another 15 minute ordering delay.
They bought out the salads and there was a 20 minute delay before the soup was brought out. We finally tracked down the waitress who told us "it is coming". When you are paying $28 for an entree and another $10 for soup or salad, you should not be told to be patient!
Why is it that there only seems to be a wait when the dining room is mostly empty? The only people I would recommend Cosmos to are people desperate for a last minute reservation and then sit at the bar and eat an appetizer. The food was tiny and mediocre - but much better than the service.
I had dinner there on one occasion and breakfast buffet on another. The ambiance, decor and service are outstanding. The dinner menu was innovative and prepared well. The breakfast buffet was underwhelming, limited, and overpriced. Imagine a breakfast buffet without scrambled eggs and you'll begin to understand my indifference.
The buffet was very, very good. Comes with made to order omelette, we declined the omelette.
But there was plenty of food. Everything about this meal was excellent. Hats off to our waiter Daniel, we arrived just in time to witness something, not going to say what, But Daniel handled it extremely well. Yep its a little pricey, But in my honest opinion, its so worth it.
YES, YES, YES. Started out with Shrimp cocktail. Then received sushi on a cucumber slice, with a few other things on top. I had the Chicken Wild rice soup(Best soup ever tasted). Then comes the Palette cleanser. Main coarse was Beef Tenderloin medium rare as suggested. With our check we received a raspberry tort ball, it must have a little cream cheese in it because my wife didn't like it, LUCKY for me.
This was one of the best meals I have ever eaten
Nice looking place with good service and reasonable prices, but there were only 4 entrees on the menu! We had the chicken and the salmon, and they were both very good, but I had my heart set on the scallops that were listed in the online menu and also featured on a poster in the elevator. I expected more choices. On the positive side, the place was nearly empty, so getting a reservation and evening changing it was easy. We also thought the little extras appetizers they treated us to were very fun. Even the tea was served in exotic little pyramids. A classy place to eat, if you don't need a lot of choices.
We went for Mother's Day brunch. The array of food choices were wonderful. Every dish was prepared well, tasted good, and the service was top-notch. Ever since the Airport Hilton stopped having its special brunch on Mother's Day, we've been looking for a replacement. The one at Cosmos was equally as delightful. Not as many food choices at the Hilton used to have, but certainly equal or better in quality and taste. I truly hope Cosmos continues offering special brunches like this for other occasions - e.g. Easter, Father's Day, and any other occasion they can think of. Great job and a superb buffet.
We had brunch at Cosmos for Mother's Day. Overall, the food was just so-so. The eggs benedict were overcooked (yet not warm), the onions in the spinach salad were insanely vineger-y, etc. The service wasn't great, either. The host who sat us at our table felt compelled, for some reason, to announce how much the brunch cost for each person. Then he took the knives from my children's place settings without asking. Even though my kids are too young for knives themselves, it would have been nice to not have to use my own on their meals so that all my food didn't have to taste like maple syrup. We also had to ask a different waiter for water, as we didn't see our guy much.
I love this restaurant. The food is stellar. Menu offers an excellent variety of food for the gourmet to the more grounded fare. Burger is THE best while the Crispy Skin Salmon and Mushroom Risotto--MWAH. It is not overcrowded, which is not so good for the bottom line but wonderful if you enjoy conversation during dinner!
Very disappointed with cosmos after reading great reviews. Some food was good. Charcuterie plate was good though we were not told anything about it. The intermezzos were fun and enjoyable. Hanger steak was a good solid choice, scallops were far too salty. Service was sub par. Our server did not seem familiar with the menu or how things were prepared. But we did get a free dessert for a birthday. We will not return and we would not recommend Cosmos.
Very good food, with locally sourced and grown ingredients. The menu is a nice change from what a lot of others are serving. Definitely on the healthier side, the food had excellent flavor. They don't have a large craft beer menu, but offer a few local favorites. Great place to go before a Target Center event, they have valet parking as well, which makes getting home a bit quicker. I would only suggest they add some art work or color, as there is a lot of brown going on.
Good place to grab an drink and maybe have a business dinner. Food tries to be fancy but is just ok. Staff is Ok, friendly enough but order was scattered and they forgot the sides. Drinks were ok asked for a gimlet with fresh lime juice and i got straight up vodka with a lime. Oh Well, but location convenient for a concert.
The night we went it was very loud, due to a company party. So I imagine it's not always that loud.... The food is good, nothing spectacular though. Prices are pretty high and you don't get a side with your dinner, you pay separately for a side IF you want one, which cost $6.00 on up. I asked for my steak rare and it came out more med-rare, thank goodness it wasn't cooked anymore than that. I'm not much for complaining, but when a steak is that spendy..... it should be done right. Service was great & friendly! Our server made sure our food came out fast, since we had a concert to go to right next door. We were impressed with that. The manager also came by to make sure everything was good, it was nice to feel taken care of. The ambiance is nice, it has a very modern feel to it.
I'd definitely like to go back and try something other than a steak..
