Corner Table Ratings and Reviews
Although they have changed their menu pretty significantly this year (there are no al a carte options, just a 3 course to 10 course meal), the food was still excellent. We opted for the 10 course "Feed the Sh*T out of Me" option without the wine pairings. It was a pricey, but wonderfully indulgent wat to celebrate my wife's birthday.
I really wanted to love Corner Table. I hadn't eaten there since they moved into the new location. It was my birthday, but it felt unremarkable. We ate from the 3 course dinner. The main courses were quite good, but the burnt popovers and burnt squash fritter with the odd pumpkin custard were disappointing. I think they didn't change out their frying oil. The delicately prepared (and small portioned) and plated 3 course dinner was overwhelmed by the huge, cheesy biscuits---which we ordered because it was "their speciality." Then, hoping for more, we ordered the dessert "special," the long john...which wasn't delivered for such a long time that we just asked for the check. (We were given the donut gratis to-go). It was also so HOT. For that much $, I expect more---integration of courses, side dishes...and mostly service. (sigh)
My wife and I have gone to Corner Table three years in a row for NYE. The new chef is so thoughtful with flavor and presentation. Can't wait for next year.
I will say that it was 80 degrees in the restaurant and probably could've benefitted by using some humidifiers. It was really cold outside that day, but still.
I made reservations for the New Years Eve tasting menu. We were immediately put off of the service when the hostess didn’t offer to take our coats but rather pointed to a rack in the (unheated) entry to leave them in. From there we found the food to be average at best. We expected it to be more basic due to the nature of it being an event tasting menu but you could tell the chefs really mailed it in and had no thought in the food. We chose to do the wine pairing and the server never told us what brand/region we were getting- just “here is a rose.” Next, timing was off- we are typically quick eaters but we kept having multiple plates and glasses on the table- it seemed as though there was no communication between the front and back of the house. Finally, as we left (and my boyfriend grabbed our coats from outside) we cracked a couple of jokes about our coats being outside - the person that seemed like a manager or sommelier explained to us that we shouldn’t expect a lot as this used to be a kfc. I should note though that our server was very pleasant- but the overall service of the restaurant was sub par.
The menu was creative and the food tasted great, but the overall experience was definitely colored by our soup course being lukewarm, as were the potatoes, onion, and carrot in our entree. Also, the decaf coffee at the end of our meal was very weak----these issues are why our experience and the food have been rated only 3 stars---it could been 4 or 5, but with the price we paid for the meal, these were very significant flaws.
Food at the Corner Table is unique farm-to-table fare. Pumpkin custard with foie gras shavings on top, a squash fritter with prawn in the middle, terrific duck breast. Not your standard steak and potato or even chicken entrees. Our server was very friendly and helpful in explaining each dish, and providing recommendations. Honestly, some dishes were terrific, and others were just good (nothing was poor), but that's what I'd expect from someplace that is clearly experimenting and providing such a distinctive dining experience. Definitely recommended.
Corner Table always shines with food and service, and this time was no different. The sunchoke soup was so wonderful with huge amounts of flavor. The zucchini brownie really topped the evening off. Mark was our server and he really knew his food. He easily described everything on the menu and was able to answer all our questions.
Although Corner Table has existed for a long time and I’d always heard good things about it, I didn’t finally make it to this Kingfield neighborhood treasure until December 1st of 2017. Now, after waiting for so long to give it a try, I hope to make it back there again ASAP.
The food was well-prepared and beautifully-presented, two things I really appreciate in a restaurant. Best of all, it was also delicious AND a great value! The three-course prix fixe dinner offered four options for each course and within those choices, it seemed impossible to order anything that wouldn’t be delicious.
Our server was very knowledgeable about the different courses and also quite willing to spend time answering our menu questions. He was friendly and attentive without being intrusive and even as the restaurant filled up, he was sure to check in with us about each course. That’s something I always appreciate from a server and it gives a sense that your opinion is being sought and your comments are being heard by someone who’s interested in your dining experience.
I would highly recommend Corner Table for anyone who’s interested in a top-notch dining experience without a gasp-inducing check at the end of the meal. Exceptional!
The food was delicious. Portions small. Fixed price menu is encouraged. We had the paparadelle pasta course and the pot roast. Both were perfectly prepared. I love jazz, but for dining a mellow version would better accompany dining and conversation.
Dinner was excellent; food was creatively prepared; wine list was innovative. Waiter was a bit stiff and uncomfortable with the food descriptions which was very different from our previous experiences when wait staff were true foodies and really knew their food-wine recommendations. Overall, Corner Table is always a wonderful dining experience.
Corner Table remains a favorite Minneapolis restaurant. Service was attentive and informative. I had the bison carpaccio, mushroom tart, and halibut. All were delicious. We also did a half pour wine pairing, which was the perfect accompaniment.
My husband was happy with his food, but I was quite disappointed in the halibut, which was overcooked and didn't seem to have the right consistency for halibut. The accompaniments also overwhelmed the flavor of the halibut. The wine was overpriced for it's quality.
I've been here at least 25 times. This was the third time in a row everything fell flat. I will probably go back because 22/25 isn't anything to sneeze at, but the portions were so stupidly miniscule- this time- it was comical. I had the equivalent of 4 large bites of food for 125.00. The pork belly was whoa bad and the chowder was beautifully served, but was, 100% not exaggerating, 4 spoonfuls *maybe*.
Come on. I am a light eater. I prefer quality over quantity. If I leave with grumbles in my tumbles your portions are offensively small. And they missed the mark across the board flavor wise.
Dined with a friend. Brent was out server. He was friendly and could answer all out questions about the food and its preparation. He checked on us frequently, but was never obtrusive. I misunderstood something he said, and he took care of fixing it as if nothing happened. He made us feel as welcome friends and not just someone to bring food to. The food itself was wonderful, starting with the popovers. The duck breast was excellent and the pork belly one of the best I've had. Makes me want to go back when they change the menu in a few weeks.
Corner Table is a great spot for dining, service is always friendly and knowledgeable, food is always top notch and they have a parking lot if your in need of a place to put your car.
We did the three course menu and all food was seasoned well and cooked to perfection
This was our second time eating here. They have gone to 3 course prix fixe menu since this spring. The only trouble with this was trying to decide between options available for each course. The good news, I don't think there could be a wrong choice. We each chose a different option and "shared". The food is some of the best I have ever had. Generous portions for a prix fixe meal. Easy to compare Corner table to La Belle Vie. Can't wait to fast and try their 9 nine course meal.
