Corner Stable - Columbia Ratings and Reviews
The ribs were as good as they stated but it was a small portion when I got the fried chicken and ribs combo. The fried chicken was excellent and was large enough for two people to share. The server was great and was attentive to our table of 7. My only recommendation would be to serve the food on plates instead of in baskets. The desserts were pricey but tasty. Would go back if in the area again.
i have never written a bad, let alone a really bad, review in all of the years i have had open table. unfortunately this restaurant deserves it. there were 8 of us celebrating our daughter's birthday including a uncle from kansas. i had notified them when i made the reservation, it was her birthday, when i called to confirm, i again reminded them. i told the hostess when we arrived and pointed her out to our waitress. the appetizers were great. it went rapidly downhill, they ran out of burgers at 6pm on a sunday, we reordered, after an unreasonable amount of time, the food came out lukewarm, not very good and the 2 special salads didn't, we waited at least 15 minutes for them. everyone waited for the salads to arrive, so food is now cold not lukewarm. i went to the hostess and manager. both said they were sorry and would try to take care of it. at no time did anyone come and update us on our order or explain why there was such a long delay to make 2 dinner salads. dessert was the final straw, no candle, not anything for our daughter's birthday. when i spoke to the manager, he said the staff didn't sing, however we heard the staff sing happy birhtday 2 tables down about a half hour earlier, he then said they did do lit candles, which i pointed out was not done in spite of 4 reminders it was our daughter's birthday. at this point we were halfway through dessert, that they would light a candle, i told him too late and rather lame. they ended up giving us a $20 gift card, which we used to pay the bill, they didn't charge us for the desserts which we wouldn't have ordered if we knew nothing was going to be done for the birthday celebration and took 10% off the bill. we arrived at 5:30pm with 3 children, we didn't get out until 7:30, ridiculous. i asked the manager why we should come back and his answer was that he was sorry. i am beyond disappointed with this restaurant.
We enjoyed the restaurant in terms of the food and drink. The ribs were really, really good. The whole team and parents enjoyed it.
It took a while to get our group seated despite our reservations. It was a Saturday night so it was busy as expected. The reservations did not seem to matter much. We also had to create our own seating for our group since the staff seemed a little frazzled. It also took 5-6 requests to change the tv channel as we all wanted to watch the big game.
Overall we had a good time!
We had ribs for our dinner. They were tasty and tender but a bit fatty. We often eat there but this time it seemed to be greasier than usual. Everything else was fine as usual.
We have always enjoyed eating there for a casual, friendly dinner. We would recommend the Corner Stable, Columbia to our friends and will be returning soon to try again!
We also visit their original Timonium restaurant when we have the opportunity. Love the onion rings!
My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary and decided to try a new restaurant. I thought Corner Stables sounded like it had a few good selection of barbecue and sandwiches so we decided to go there. Our waitress never introduced herself but was very friendly. We had to wait several minutes for drinks from the bar because they did not have the items listed for some of their specialty drinks and had to make substitutions. He ordered a full rack of ribs with two sides and I ordered the little red sandwich both entrees or out very quickly, while my sandwich was delicious and hot and I was very happy with it, we felt the ribs were rather Saucy and not very hot. We ended our meal with funnel cake fries which were very hot and delicious. Overall very nice restaurant it was quiet but it was also early for dinner.
Great beer selection, excellent prices. They could use more vegetarian options. If you don't eat meat your stuck with sides and a tossed salad. Side menu extensive very affordable. My wife went for the crab cake and i went for the beer. 22oz ipa for under $10. I will be back. Next time i will try the baked potato.
Corner Stable is a gem in a hidden part of Columbia MD that appears to be just another mom and pop restaurant and turned out to be a true 5 star cuisine. Our group had the crab cakes which were full of crab and not a lot of filler, the ribs just fell off the bones and where very flavorful, salmon that was cooked to perfection and even pizza that was delicious. My most favorite item that they brought us was the corn fritters. I remember eating them as a kid and as I got older i could not find them until now. So I will defiantly be going there again.
We were in town for a concert and picked this restaurant due to favorable reviews on trip advisor. Our food came out in literally 5 minutes. That was the first clue. How can you cook a meal in five minutes? I had a crab cake sandwich. Worst crab cake I have ever eaten. Sure there was lump crab meat in it. It was also over cooked, dry and had some knd of stuffing mixture in it. The side of fries was humongous. It was also slightly warm, dry and probably made the night before. My husband ordered the crab cake and spare rib dinner. To be fair, the spare ribs were good. However the crab cake was the same as mine, dry, over cooked and tasted leftover. The fries on his plate were from the same batch as mine. It tasted as a if our food wAs left over and had just been warmed up. We didnt even bother to complain. We were already exhausted from a two hour drive. The server (who was also the bartender) knew where and how it was prepared. He brought it out of the kitchen! This place should shut its doors rather than call itself a restaurant. We both love crab cakes and this was a major disappointment.
We dine here often, as it is midway between Rockville and Baltimore. Family in both areas can drive here easily, parking is ample.
The food is always good. I'm hooked on the crab cakes. My kids love the ribs! Service is always attentive, but not hovering.
We'll continue to enjoy CS for many more years.
Went for early dinner with spouse. Shared Corn Nuggets for appetizer; delicious. Had Grilled Barbecue Salmon with Macaroni & Cheese and Broccoli for entree; delicious. Spouse had Southwest Filet Mignon Salad; delicious. Shared Funnel Cake Fries; delicious. We were expecting "good enough" food from this unassuming restaurant, but ended up loving everything we ordered. Will be back.
It appears that the portion sizes have gotten smaller since we last visited. I got the crab cake and shrimp combination. It appeared that the crab cake had more filler in the middle then what I have had in the past and was not very flavorful. I added Old Bay which helped. Just appeared that the ingredients in the crab cake had changed since I last order. It had been awhile since I ordered any crab cake combination.
The blooming onion appetizer we ordered was very soggy in the middle from the onion appetizer we ordered in the past. Maybe the cook had a bad day, but we did not complain, because our main dish came promptly out from the kitchen.
Great place for casual dining. The ambience is cheerful--an active bar environment and an abundance of lively conversation everywhere. The server we had was excellent. The menu is broad--offering choices from barbecue to seafood. I was surprised to see a turkey dinner with stuffing and gravy on the menu. My husband ordered it. It was pretty good, even the dressing stood up to expectations. I ordered a delightful lump crab cake and fried shrimp dinner. Excellent! This was our first time eating at the Corner Stable. We will definitely be going back.
