Corner Stable - Cockeysville Ratings and Reviews
A must-go for the ribs. Drove almost 2 hours from Pennsylvania. Recommend making reservation on Open Table. Very crowded and noisy. (It’s a bar). Waitress was pretty rushed. I guess understandable. We went for ribs not ambiance. Have been going for 30+ years. What else can I say
Fall off the bones rack of ribs. Excellent. I recommend you ask for extra BBQ sauce. French fries are good solid potato fries was disappointed that the half rack rib special had small print (ends at 6pm). Service was attentive. Meal took a while to be delivered but the place was packed...and very loud. Bottom line- great ribs!
The food was good but the staff was a little confused. My wife and I arrived at 17:50 for our 18:00 reservation for six. We were seated near the back. At about five after, wondering where the rest of our party was, I decided to walk outside to check on them. I discovered that the staff had seated them in the front of the place! We relocated to join them. I found out later that they did not charge us for the two drinks served by the first waiter.
The Corner Stable in Timonium had been around a long time... The dining room and décor look that way too. ( old wooded booths and tables ) tables closed together and the chairs are outdated looking . Our meal was just okay... The atmosphere was very very noisy and the restaurant was very crowded. Even though we had a reservation we still waited over 15 min. in a tiny cold hallway .The service was slow. The crab soup was very good, hot and somewhat spicy. The meat lovers' combo platter was just okay- very small portion of brisket- sliced super thin ( maybe 4 -5-- 1/2 pieces) and 8 very small baby back ribs. The ribs were good - meat tender good flavor- just very small. The hush puppies were great and a side of hot apples - okay. When I opened my silverware there was something crusted all over the fork and the knife looked dirty too. That was a turn off. The waitress forgot to bring me a second set of silverware so I asked her again. She was not a great waitress and seemed unfriendly and harried at first. So if I were to rate the restaurant and food- I'd give it just a 5 out of 10- we won't go back .
The ribs are always awesome, so is the crabcake on a pretzel bun, and the 2 fried chicken breast dinner that could feed about 6 people. Not so awesome: broccoli as a side was cold and water logged, a Cosmopolitan made with what tasted like peach schnapps, and the terribly slow service. The interior is dying for an update. Stick to beer and bar food, don't expect fancy and don't be in a rush. Still one of our regular stops.
The food was good, but not outstanding. The prices seemed slightly high given the portions and quality -- just a few bucks higher than each entree was worth. Friendly environment. Good for families. Worth trying once, but will probably go elsewhere next time.
I absolutely love this place! Been going there for more than 30 years, driving all the way from Westminster, MD. It's my go to place for ribs. I always get the texas style. The spicy sauce is so good. I always try to bring my out of town guest here for lunch or dinner, and they always love it.
The menu here is eclectic but well thought out. Where I found it to be lacking was in consistency. The shrimp and ribs offered hot out of the fryer shrimp with lukewarm ribs. The sides also were lukewarm. My companion had a broiled crab cake which had a cool center. Her better than average mac and cheese and stewed tomatoes were also lukewarm. Pricing seemed high with three dinners with three alcoholic beverages coming to $125 before gratuity. I'd try here again but only for sandwiches.
Been a while since last visit but pleased to see that little had changed. Popular for pub grub especially crab cakes and ribs. All four of us "old guys" had a mixture of both. Parking is a bit of a challenge but overflow is close by. We dined on Wed evening and two of us had the crab cake platter special which was tasty. Others had the crab cake and ribs dish that they loved. Very casual dining in relaxed atmosphere--just what we were looking for. Server Tyler was a treat and did a great job throughout the evening. Very pleasant and professional. Fun night out with friends.
