I have been to the Corner Room on a few occasions, only ever with one other person. It is an intimate setting but does cater for groups although the acoustics are not great when there are a lot of people talking loudly. The food is exceptional and the service just at the right level of attentiveness. On my most recent visit the staff went out of their way to accommodate my friend’s requirement for dairy free and when her choice of wine wasn’t available gave her a complimentary glass of the best match (a more expensive option) as well as taking the price of my drink off the bill.
This was our first time at Corner Room - we made a last minute booking and turned up 20 minutes later! The food was delicious and we shared a series of dishes between us. Fantastic, friendly service in a great setting. Plus we had booked a deal which was extremely good value!
We had dinner with a special offer of 3 courses + drink for £30 and it was really good value for money. The ambience is very pleasant, the service is good and the food is very good. All dishes are very-well designed and prepared with excellent ingredient. The style is modern with a Spanish touch. I will surely repeat the experience.
The food was excellent. Mostly loved the decor though, small room with a few tables. Went when the sun was shining and the whole room lit up, quite a beautiful setting! The veggie breakfast was perfect, portion was good. The cornish crab benedict however could have been a bit bigger (perhaps accompanied with a small side salad or so). All in all fantastic brunch experience!
Lovely restaurant in a lovely hotel. Food great.
Enjoyed our time here, it’s a very nice hotel and the service was very good from the waiters, although the manager seemed a bit flaily. Had a really nice old fashioned, but they didn’t mix the second so it was really strong and then really sweet later.
Food was very tasty, tiny portions but I don’t like to over eat anyway!
Would come back.
Fantastic experience all round. Food was simply excellent. Will be heading back soon!
A tiny spot off the beaten path, the Corner Room delivers a warm intimate ambiance with delicious food and lovely service to back it up. The restaurant is a bit on the pricier side, however I would definitely say it was worth every penny. I enjoyed dinner with a girlfriend there. We opted to split three small plates, an entree and a side. It was the perfect amount of food. Highly recommend!
Stunning food, great atmosphere. A strongly recommended cozy restaurant.
Very tasty interesting food, well prepared and presented. Well above average cooking.
Our only problem was we were the only ones in the restaurant all evening on. Thursday.
Took my husband for a birthday date, it was a Sunday night so quiet, but perfect night out. Delicious food, beautifully presented, very friendly service...will definitely return and would recommend.
Overpriced, small portions. Steak was not great quality for the price.
Culinary skills was good but not memorable. Servers were more interested at sitting at the welcome station rather than being present and attentive in the dining room
Shame as I’d love to find another regular restaurant locally
One of the best meals I've had in a long time - the ambiance is spot on and the food is superb. We ordered a variety of small dishes and struggled to pick one that was our favourite, they were all so good.
Dissapointing food, bland and poor value for money. I was told it was fully booked when I reserved and i couldn’t get a later table; when I left after dining the restaurant was under a quarter full with many empty tables
Amazing as always. Elegant and unexpected flavours. Nice ambience for a date or special occasion.
Sadly, we haven't been too impressed :( Visited on the 28th of December for dinner. Service was nice but slow. The drinks were already not the best, a flat glass of champagne that I had to ask to be replaced and a basic unadorned gin&tonic in a small tumbler.
The food sounded interesting, we tried the sirloin and a roast goose with grilled broccoli and potatoes on the side. Unfortunately the beef was way too fatty, the broccoli chewy, and none of the plates was anything special.
True, the restaurant is not a very expensive one, but based on the reviews and the style of menu we expected much more.
Had an excellent meal at The Corner Room! The menu is simple, concise and well priced. The food is unassumingly delicious. Everything that we had felt like it came out of a one-star kitchen. The service is attentive and friendly. Excellent spot for a first date.
Very nice restaurant. deserve to get a 5 score. food was perfect, empolyee was very kind
Town Hall is rather a strange place - it feels more like an institution than a hotel and is very easy to get lost in. The Corner Room is as the name suggests, tucked away in a quiet corner of the first floor where at least two wedding receptions seemed to be going on in separate suites. (They didn't impinge on our evening at all.) We weren't sure what to expect as we'd chosen the restaurant mainly on the basis that it was near St John's Church where we were going to see a band. It was our lucky day - the food was exceptional. The menu changes daily, apparently, but we chose five sharing plates: Morecambe Bay prawns with 'monk's beard', cod cheeks with lemon and capers and a rich potato (and truffle?) purée, pressed pig's cheek with cuttlefish and chorizo, aged beef tartare with Jerusalem artichoke crisps and a Vacherin fondue with grilled cabbage leaves. It's also possible to have one of the sharing plates per person as a starter then have one of the four or five main courses on offer. I noticed these included rabbit Wellington. The sourdough bread was excellent - we ordered more out of pure greed. The service was warm and attentive. The restaurant is quite small so booking is probably essential unless you're eating very early (as we were). On the way out we bumped into an acquaintance from West London (like us) who had made the trip across town especially and was as impressed as we were by the food.
Pre event dinner at Corner Room. Really excellent food and very good service. Nice simple choices of food and wines. Dishes unusual in combination of ingredients but it all works extremely well. I would definitely go again if in the area.
My husband has complicated dietary requirements and the lovely staff could not do enough to assist and make sure he was happy. When the dessert menu came and there was nothing on it he could have, they made special arrangements to find him something else so he was not left out. The food had some really interesting combinations. It was a really special evening and the staff were all outstanding.
Corner Room is a hidden gem in London’s up and coming Bethnal Green area. The food it exquisite and reasonably priced too and the service was excellent! Great for a special occasion and for small groups too. We would definitely dine there again and recommend it to others too.
Had a very nice meal at Corner Room, hadn't been since it first opened so it was a real treat! Great friendly service and delicious, fresh and interesting food. We shared five starters between two of us so got to try lots of things! Would highly recommend!
Good and value for money restaurant. Good and efficient service too, recommended.
Such lovely food and great service. Lunch small plates are reasonable and sooooo delicious. Langostina and chicken liver mousse to name my favs.
Atmosphere is good. The food is good too but portions are way too small for the price.
It was brilliant. I'm really happy I didn't get "familiar" flavours. I got flavours that were interesting and new and exciting and I loved it. The service was also brilliant. The food was kindly brought to us a little quicker as we had a subsequent engagement. Thanks.
Food was some of the best I have eaten in London and the service was brilliant. Be sure to head to the bar afterwards I most definitely recommend!
4 of us went for a meal and all 4 of us thought the food was extremely good. tasty, inventive and great flavours all round.
service was great too!
would definitely come back
I rarely leave reviews but Corner Room is well-deserving. It was unexpectedly wonderful in every way. The ambience was cosy, quiet and elegant. The food was delicious and interesting. The service was top-notch. The value was excellent as well. I live in West London and would happily make a trip to Bethnal Green to visit again.
Excellent service and food. Small plates but fulfilling. Trendy decor.
Small restaurant and menu which means attention is paid to every part; delicious food, great service and lovely atmosphere.
Good value, good service, good ambience and good choice of unusual items
Nice place, very good food and with their 'early dining offer' it was extremely good value!
It's the second time I go in the past 2 months and unfortunately both times I come out disapointed. This time I gnocci for starters which were a bit tasteless and beef ribs for main which was over salted. Both times the meet which was beef was very very salty.
Great food and drinks! Good service. Will be back again!
We are local and foodies, it was my husbands birthday and he said it was probably the best meal he had ever had! Quite a suprise to me and him, not because it wasn't excellent because it was, but because he has been around the world and is a good cook himself, praise indeed. Absolutely delicious, great service, great cocktails. Sweet functional room in an impressive building. Compliments to the chef and staff, we will be back!
Small restaurant within hotel, but you wouldn't know you were in a hotel. Quirky modern restaurant, excellent service and fantastic food. The clams were especially good, as were the steaks. Would recommend.
Not the best service, waitress had no idea of gluten free options, first of all she said that menu could be adapted or if gluten was included. Then came back later to say it could. It was an early Sunday lunch and we were one of the first guests, yet full menu was not available . Food arrived and although looked and tasted good, many aspects of the meal was either cold or luke warm!
Fabulous Grouse! Chef knows how English food should taste
