The food was sooo delicious and the wait staff was very personable and helpful. We loved the entire evening. 5 Stars.
I really enjoyed my dining experience. I celebrated my birthday with my birthday club and we ate early so it was really quiet. My food was excellent and my friends enjoyed theirs as well. Our server Marvin was fast and very attentive and I really appreciate the chief sending out the piece of cheese cake to celebrate my day.
I met up with girlfriends for a girls night out. We ordered off the happy hour menu, which included $2 off wine. Some of the girls ordered mixed drinks, which I think were $4, and the rest ordered wine. Our server was helpful in bringing samples for us so we could pick the perfect glass of wine. We also ordered a charcuterie platter, which was abundant with meat, cheese, fruit, and toasted baguettes. Although we did not order dinner, which was pricey, we did agree that it was a nice happy hour spot.
I don't like to be negative, because everyone has an off day, but our experience was less than ideal. Our waiter, though well mannered seemed to be having an "off day". He sat us, took our drink orders then disappeared. He returned with our drinks, and attempted to move an empty glass and ended up breaking it. He left the broken glass on both the table and the floor for our entire stay. Then took the menus away. Realizing after a few minutes that he never took our food order, he came back and took our order. Before our food came out, he brought us bread, and when we asked for silverware he, loud enough for us to hear, snapped at the hostess for "sitting them at the only table without silverware". It was uncomfortable. The food was good, but for a a place with "piano bar" on the door and a grand piano in the building I fond it weird that there was no piano playing happening on a Friday night. Once we finished our food--our empty plates sat in front of us for over 15 minutes (mind you there are less than five occupied tables/bar stools in the entire place) waiting for our waiter to return. I hate to mention this, but he was also sweating profusely, and while I can appreciate a man who works hard, I don't necessarily was his hard work dripping into my fettuccine. It was just an overall awkward experience, and for the price and location we expected better. The food wasn't good enough to overlook the poor service or lack of ambiance.
We have been to Corner Bistro multiple times and have loved it in the past, however, since the chef left and a new one has been there, the food has been lackluster. We will NOT be going back.
Edible. Chef ignores patrons' food preparation requests. Staff is unprofessional and the ambiance unpredictable. Food presentation is good but food temperatures vary on the same plate.
Call ahead to see if private party has booked seating because there is no banquet or private room. If you happen to be in a "private party" spot, you get booted out.
Always enjoy this place and the live music provided by my favorite entertainer in Jacksonville. Great place to eat, drink and dance with your spouse. Just wish others would dress a little nicer. Not a fan of tees, baseball caps and sloppy shorts. This place deserves better.
We went for brunch on Saturday and were almost the only people there. It was nice and quiet but took a while to get our food. Once we got it though, everything was good.
It looks like a cozy place to have dinner. However, the food quality doesn't match its prices.
The ribeye and mussels are great!!
so happy to see that the management has added several new items to it's already fantstic brunch meny!
The food was not great on my last few visits. When they first opened the food was great. Not sure why the decline.
Great little place!! Service was exceptional and foot was good too! Why is this place not full?
We had brunch for my hubby's bday and had the most wonderful lemon blueberry pancakes. Food is always wonderful and the service is on point. Weekend evenings are the best when the owner hits the piano bar for great music and cozy atmosphere.
One of the BEST restaurants in Jacksonville. The food, service and atmosphere was impeccable. Try the crab cakes, they were delicious. There is a patio overlooking the pond and plenty of available dinning indoors. Awesome happy hour specials on drinks and they had live Jazz music at 8:30 pm. It was the perfect spot for a romantic evening. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a laid back romantic spot with excellent food.
Stopped by for lunch and had a nice time. Server was very responsive and I enjoyed the food.
We had Sunday brunch at corner Bistro. Not only did it take a half hour to get drinks and an hour and a half for food, but there was a fifteen minute lag between the first and last dishes arriving (for only 6 people). I ordered a salad with chicken that was so dry it was not edible. The rest of the food seemed good, but small portions.
My parents enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, I purchased a "Living Social" ticket for them to use, but it was not valid on Mothers day. That was my mistake. However, the host was very rude to them for even bringing it up. He was very loud and embarrassed them, saying that they did not accept coupons on holidays.
If they understood courtesy, they would have simply explained that while today they could not honor it, any other day would be acceptable. And they could have done this quietly and respectfully.
The food was excellent, however the servers were not that attentive. The food service was very slow, we went for brunch and it was an hour and fifteen minutes before we had food.also the manager never stopped by our table to ask how the meal was going. Overall an average experience the great food was offset by the slow service.
My friends and i had Sunday brunch here. The place wasn't crowded. The food was great. The bottomless mimosas were even better. The waiter was very welcoming and we never had to look for him. We sat around the piano and relaxed. It was great.
We had a great Easter brunch here. From the hostess to the waiter to the food, everything was wonderful. Spectacular unique cocktail list as well as mimosas and bloody mary's make the meal special. Good fresh food with unique combinations.
Our waiter disappeared after serving drinks and brought the bread out a good 20 minutes after he promised it. He didn't seem to care about good service much at all.
My wife had been here using a Living Social coupon and loved it. She was right. I went on a Saturday night. I had the pan-seared sheepshead (fish) special with a dill sauce and risotto. It was freshly caught and both delicious and beautifully plated. The service was attentive.
i've been to corner bistro a handful of times and each time its a beautiful experience. the wait staff is professional and not annoying; the restaurant is beautiful; and the food is exceptional
I have been to Corner Bistro a few times, twice for lunch and once for dinner. I have been happy with all my visits. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a French bistro...casual elegance. The food is good, my Diablo Shrimp with pasta was nice. My friends Berry Salad with Salmon looked good and she said it was great. We were interested in wine with our lunch and the waiters suggestion was very good. The food is always prepared well and is tasty. I would recommend this place.
we arrived for our reservation at 6:30 and the restaurant was dead, six tables max. The waiter came over and offered us water and said another table had to be out by 8:00 so he would be back. Finally at 7:00 I flagged him down and told him we were on a timeline too and needed to order. Out comes the lobster bisque. Too salty to eat and zero lobster meat. Then came salad, it was delish, took 5 mins to get cracked pepper. Then came ny strip and lobster tail. The strip was seasoned but overall flavorless, my dog loved the other half though. The lobster tail was the smallest I've EVER had, about 1.5" long by less than .5" wide. Grilled chicken and risotto came out boiled chicken, not even grill marks, flavorless and with augratin potatoes...Then came dessert, it was fantastic. It took us almost two hours to eat, one cocktail each, and the servers were constantly breaking dishes in the dining room, banging things around, even singing and shouting table orders while entering the kitchen but while still in the dining room. Management should have put a muzzle on these servers in the dining room. AND THIS COST US $210. waster of time and money! We could have had an amazing dinner at the steakhouse next door but wanted to try some place new.. I read the mixed reviews and was on the cusp of going elsewhere. I hope this help you make the better decision! Beware!
Food was very good. Not mind blowing, but good portion sizes (almost too much) and seasoned well. It seems to be a later crowd type of place with the piano guy starting around 9. If you dine early, expect very few tables even though sound travels insanely loud. Biggest complaint we had was the service could be a little more polished. If you're spending $100 between 2 people on dinner, you don't expect interactions like you are at TGIFridays. I appreciate a casual approach but everyone in there was excessive. Talking about side work in front of people's tables, explaining my entree as coming with "veggies and mash", listening to a server practically yell about "going drinking bro!" To his customer/friend for 20 mins, food stained menus, etc.
All in all it was a decent experience. They have a good wine list and large patio that will be nice in warmer weather. I doubt we'd ever make the drive out (20 mins) again for just dinner. Next time we'll go later and hit the bar atmosphere.
We love this neighborhood gem. Rarely crowded early but heats up as the night goes on. Great drinks and wine list. The food is incredible and never disappoints. Their scallops are the best I have had in the Jacksonville area and you can often get coupons on Living Social which makes this a win win for all. My only suggestion for the bar area is to get better bar stools and hooks for ladies purses. The stools had cracks in the leather and are a bit short for the bar. I definitely recommend trying this place out
I've dined here off & on since they opened & the food was horrible. Also, we sat near the kitchen & an awful smell came from there when servers walked in/out. Did not notice until half way through the meal b/c we were so busy talking. Would not have eaten that food had I noticed sooner. Lost my appetite at that point. Had the worst cut of steak (ribeye $32) ever. There was no seasoning. The cook had a hard time preparing at the requested temperature. My dining partner sent his back twice. I've had ithis steak here in the past & it was pretty good. Don't know what happened, but the quality has gone way down. The servers did their best to salvage our dinner but it just did not change the food unfortunately. The only thing that was good was the drinks from the bar. I don't forsee them staying open very long with this type of food & I am a foodie/blogger. THIS WAS JUST BAD & that is very unfortunate for this past neighborhood gem. I have recommended this place to many people in the past, I think I will withhold any further recommendations until there is a vast improvement.
Had a large table of 11, but even with two waiters the service was slow and they were not too attentive. Hard to find wait staff is never good. Good food, nice atmosphere, Had a big screen going to watch the game, and when it was done, they rolled up the screen and the pianist began to play. It was a little loud since we were at the closest table. The music was good but it was hard to carry on a conversation. Nice place, if you want an upscale sports bar with decent food. I am not sure if we will try again.
We had a great time at Corner Bistro NYE. Beautiful place. The food was great and so was the service. Awesome piano player. We had a great time. We would Definitely go back.
Great evening @ Corner Bistro.. The service was top notch as was the food!! I ordered the Ribeye while my date chose the pianoman pasta .. Both dishes were delicious ... The piano bar really distinguishes this restraunt from others here in jacksonville... The pianoman "Matt " played us some Elton John classics.. Wow!!! That guy is Fantastic.... We will be back soon!!
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner. We looked up restaurants to go to that had a great steak and this one did not disappoint. Moderatelty priced and great servce added to the great experience.
After reading some of the reviews on here, I was hesitant to try this place. However, I am very glad I did. The food was excellent, and the service was very good as well. Noise wasn't an issue, although it wasn't a very busy night. I would definitely go back.
This is a cozy, friendly place conveniently within walking distance from our hotel. It started out friendly and pleasant, but our waiter seemed to have a very poor sense of timing. It took quite a while to give our wine order, and it went downhill from there. First course-- mussels were good, but begged for some bread to dip into the tasty broth. Could not get our waiter to appear until we were almost finished when we caught his attention and asked for bread; then waited way too long as the broth got cold; waiter finally brought the bread, apologizing that he had to wait for it to come out of the oven. Spinach salad was excellent; then an abnormally long wait until the filet mignon oscar arrived- it was a special with crab topping-- but the crab seemed to be more of a puree. Filet was fine. Again it took forever to get refills for water which we had to hold up our glasses to get attention, as well as to get the check. We felt worn out and disappointed after this experience. It does seem to be a popular place and we'll give it another try with a different waiter next time we're in the area.
Service was slow and the fish was dry. The steak was very good after it had to be sent back for being under cooked the first time.
The food was very bad. The pork chops were very thin and tasted of freezer burn. I would not recommend this restaurant to my friends. I guess we are spoiled by places that serve fresh products.
We've been there before. It was great them, and great now. Love the piano player. I wish we lived closer.
Blackened surf and turf is worthy of five stars; the pork chops are a huge disappointment, I don't recommend them. Our service could've been better, waiter was slow and kind of a smart aleck. Nice wine list. Go somewhere else for dessert, they have only three items on their list, we tried the chocolate cake and it was just so-so. It wasn't busy on the Tuesday night we were there but a couple of the groups were loud, so that tended to make quiet conversation impossible at times. Overall it wasn't a bad dining experience, so we'll go again and see what happens.
friendly. Some of the group split entrees and was still plenty of food. 3 of us ordered soup, 2 had to be sent back to be re-heated as they were luke warm.
