I am a loyal customer of Corkbuzz, having visited at least 20 times over the past few years. This time, upon arrival for my 7:30 reservation, I was advised that my requested high table was not ready and was forced to stand waiting for over 15 minutes, as there were no other options. This is not the purpose of a reservation. The hostess simply disappeared and stood with the bartender, and was nowhere to be found even when new customers came in. A second hostess eventually sat us at a common table, which I mentioned that I did not request, and which was far too noisy. When a high table opened up, she did not offer to move us, and there was absolutely no effort made to make up for the problem, such as by offering a complimentary glass of wine or food plate. It was thoroughly sickening to be treated this way after years of patronage, and I will absolutely not return and dissuade anyone I know from returning (previously, I would highly recommend Corkbuzz to friends).
Luckily they sat me but I was very disappointed to hear when I walked in that they had no record of my reservation because they are no longer on open table, even though I had made the reservation that same afternoon.
Love this place! Food! Service! The Beverage list and a team clearly passionate will come again
I read mixed reviews about this place but it seemed like a cute place to try for a Valentine's Day date- I was wrong. Neither my boyfriend nor I EVER get our feathers ruffled by a little wait, but we were completely ignored and talked down to the entire ordering process from wine to apps to mains. Our waitress was the most condescending person I have ever experienced and in between our ordering, we were paid zero attention. We literally sat there while no one came to take our order in between every single course. We had finished half a bottle of wine and our apps before she even came over to take our dinner order! Once we were finished we sat for about 30 minutes before she came to ask if we wanted the check. It was truly a ridiculous experience and that waitress should be fired. With that being said, the food was good but portions were very small. I am never going back and suggest you spend your money elsewhere.
We had an over-eager server. Shortly after I arrived, when he overheard me announce to my friend that I was pregnant, he muttered something along the lines of, "and tonight I'll be your doula." ?! I thought I'd heard him wrong, but when I asked, "I'm sorry, what did you say?", he said, "Oh nothing," smiled, and asked if my friend wanted another glass of wine. VERY weird and uncomfortable. The bar snacks were good, though the portions were small: fritto misto (small portion for $15), blistered shishito peppers, baba ganoush (was only ok; lacked flavor), and gougères (four tiny ones).
Once again, a great night at Corkbuzz. They have the best homemade ricotta EVER.
It was a fun roomy space with great options. Dessert was the miss or I would have given 5 stars. Service was fantastic.
I have been to Corkbuzz several times and each time I had a great experience. The staff's wine knowledge is extensive and the service was fast and attentive. Great wine selection and I absolutely love their appetizers. Great ambience too!
As one would expect the wine list is terrific and fairly priced.
the staff is knowledgable and friendly....
The Food is EXCELLENT and equal to the wine.
The best thing about this place is the service!! Been here several times and never disappoints.
Overall really good food. Very well trained server; he knew his wines. We might have expected a bit more "fun" over wine tasting, and broader options. In general, it was a good experience- but not outstanding.
Went for my birthday prior to going to hockey game in Brooklyn. Food was delicious the cheese meat platter was excellent especially the homemade ricotta. I had the Bourguignon burger which was very tasty. We shared the mushroom polenta and my wife had the Apple & Walnut salad. We did not have room for dessert. Requested iced tea and they fresh brewed a pot of tea for me. Service staff is warm, friendly and helpful. Great find!
There's a reason this place is always buzzing. Good wine, an on-the-ball staff, and way above average small plates. Wish Corkbuzz was in my neighborhood.
This is a good choice after seeing a play at Classic Stage. It's a destination for wine lovers with a varied and interesting list with choices at all price points.
although I have enjoyed Corkbuzz in the past, tonight it suffered from extremely inept service, and an unacceptable noise level. Food just okay. Sad to see this decline.
Nice ambience bland food selection of food/drinks but expect to pay more than average.
This restaurant never disappoints! The food the wine and the staff is all incredible and I truly cannot speak high enough about my experience
Loved the whole experience!
Love Corkbuzz. Great wines. Great food. It gets noisy, though.
I love this place and it never disappoints. The wine selection is massive and the waiters help you pair the wine and food for the best meal!
For a place that prides itself on wine, it was surprising to have our white wines served in ice cold glasses. Seriously! They were cold to the touch. Would be nice if there were additional food options. Service was strange. The sommelier was there for a bit then disappeared and we had trouble figuring out who our waiter was. Overall service fine but in NYC you can definitely have a better experience for a comparable (if not better price).
Great service, great food, great space and wonderful wine list with great options at all price levels.
Really great wines (more than 50 by the glass), but the best part was the server was extremely knowledgeable and interested in wine. And friendly! He didn't push anything expensive and made really great suggestions. We did the wine flights and they were excellent (and very creative). The food was tapas oriented, but very good. Would definitely go back.
Wine list and friendly sommeliers. Great place!
Loved it. Sommelier was terrific - he MADE the experience. Loved the food tho $ a little high especially for the cheese flights! Need to increase the value of that.
We will go back for sure.
One other small complaint - chairs are REALLY uncomfortable.
Horrible experience...I used to love this place but not after last night. Had to wait forever to get plain bread which they charged for. I ordered the skirt steak and the portion was ridiculously small for $30. Not mentioned on the menu was the side dish with the steak was brussel sprouts which I had already eaten as an appetizer. Good wine selection but food and service are terrible.
I work in the Union Square area and Corkbuzz is always a reliable and delightful stop for after work drinks with friends or with a date. Being in the wine industry it can be surprisingly daunting to find a well crafted and well priced wine list where the food is of equal quality (very tasty, everything I have ever had). Corkbuzz manages to achieve this. As an added observation, for the few years I have been going there I tend to see the same staff which speaks volumes to me in the highly competitive NYC market for great workers.
Great value in NYC, food is as good as the wine list, which is outstanding.
you come here for the wine list. Amazing bottles. they know their wine here
We had four adults and one very busy toddler. The staff (hostess/servers/etc) were patient and thoughtful about where they placed us and how quickly they served us. Food and wine were excellent. It was a great environment to have a nice adult dinner with a toddler in tow.
hidden gem inside chelsea market. nice people watching. great food and interesting wines. do a wine flight for more variety
Corkbuzz has an amazing wine list and very knowledgable staff. However, you are missing out if you don't stay for dinner.
What We Had:
- Homemade ricotta cheese and meats (Appetizer)
- Steak (Medium Rare)
- Smores Dessert (out of this world)
Great ambience in a hip environment that's still accessible.
Went for dinner with a group of friends, and maybe the staff was tired from the Mothers' Day brunch crowd, but we were the only table seated in the dining area, and service was soooooo slow. Ordered a dozen oysters... got a half dozen. I seem to recall the food being tasty enough (though two at our table ordered the steak and were disappointed at the size and that it was presliced for them on arrival), but honesty I ate it so quickly because we had been waiting so long. No complaints about the wine, everyone found something they enjoyed (you'd hope so!), but I don't know what was going on behind the scenes.
We have been doing Sunday brunch every once in a while for a couple of years now at Corkbuzz Union Square. Great brunch menu and 1/2 price champagnes. Great combination. And the staff is all so helpful navigating thorugh a list of champaignes that would be otherwise unfamiliar territory. We had a Champagne Piollot (mostly Pinot grapes), for example and it was fabulous. The shocker was how empty the place was given how great it is!
The food was delicious, and wine excellent. Our server was very nice and friendly. I was seated along the wall a few tables in from the door. Each time the door opened a very cold wind would come into the restaurant making it pretty uncomfortable. My date and I each had 4 or more glasses of the Malbec, certainly a bottles worth. It would have been nice if we were charged for a bottle rather than per glass as a gesture since we ended up spending a few hundred dollars. I'd go back anytime in the spring or summer. But this may not be a great place to bring a date in the Fall or Winter unless they can keep the cold out and heat in.
Who would have imagined that any restaurant would serve brunch until 9pm on a Sunday? I didn't. When we arrived at 7, the place was empty (no surprise) and we were handed a brunch menu. Why would anyone want to eat eggs Benny at night. We left without ordering and went out for DINNER.
Amazing food and great wine. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable and was able to recommend a great bottle of wine for us. Would definitely return!
Great decor and service, good spot for a date, but:
Seafood appetizer was premade and served to us within 60 seconds of ordering.
Main courses were bland.
Went for an early Valentine's Day dinner & it was great, the food was exceptional & really surprised us. The only negative was because it was cold & windy and we were sitting closer to the door our food got cold when people would go in/out. The wine was delicious!
We got the cavateli (YUM!!) and the skirt steak. It was a great place& we'll definetly be back, especially since they are consistently changing their menu
