This was our first time at Cork Wine and Tapas Bar and will definitely return. The dining area is small so reservations are a must during peak hours. We had the Pan seared scallops as an appetizer. This was one of the most delicious dishes I have had in a very long time. Excellent!! The Almond crusted haddock was fresh, light and delicious. For dessert the mixed berry cobbler was also very good. They use a warm pound cake instead of a biscuit which was a nice twist on a classic dessert. We had food and wine envy of the people sitting near us and want to return soon to try more of the items on the extensive menu. It's nice to see a restaurant of this caliber in downtown New Bedford.
Definitely worth the drive.

Group of 5 - seated no problem (downstairs, which is a little quieter/roomier). We split 3 tapas / all got entrees / all got wine. As per usual, the food was delicious. Only complaint was the waitress - was very aloof / cold towards us (and we're a group of police, smiley girls); seemed better w/ other tables (which only made our service worse by comparison). Only 3 menus on the table when we sat - said she'd bring us more, then never did. LONG periods of time in between sitting us, taking out app/drink/entree orders, checking on us/refilling water. Asked her to take the bill after she brought something over, spun on her heel and walked away (w/out the bill). Would definitely go again but would NOT sit in her section.

Great little place - a little noisy because it is small and people are having a good time. Tapas is wonderful. Did not see a wine by the glass selection with pricing would have like that as the other person I was with was not drinkin wine.

Pastry-wrapped brie w/raspberry jam. Scallop & corn chowder. Braised short ribs in tasty gravy. All wonderful! Can't wait to go back & try more. Gorgeous renovation of this very old whaling city bldg. from main floor to bathrms. Beautiful beams & woodwork; tasteful lighting. Staff was very friendly & attentive even though the place was packed (others also headed for show at Zeiterion Theater). Big doors open in summer to expand to outdoor seating. Downstairs perfect for small group gathering (call to find out when available?). Park in alley adjacent to restaurant. ENJOY!

It was not my first time but it was the first time for my guest. Food was excellent as always, Wine prices very reasonalble. Ambiance was perfect, laid back and comfortable. We did not feel rushed and the service was exceptional. Loved the Creme brule... Will definately be back again. We had a great time.

My fiance and I dined at CORK on 2/26/11. I had been there before for cocktails with some friends and loved the ambience and atmosphere! The service was inferior, the food was mediocre at best, when I asked for a glass of pinot grigio, the waitress as well as the bartender did not know what "pinot grigio" was. I worked in this buissness for 12 years and was very dissapointing. I may consider CORK for a cocktail at the bar, but nothing more!

Cork is, by far, my favorite restaurant. Every meal I've had there has been wonderful; the food, the drinks and the service. They have a good sized menu with a lot of variety and some really creative dishes. As one would expect, the wine list stands on it's own. (if you're a fan of reds, try the Garnacha, El Fuego, Spain) The dining room is small and intimate, very romantic. You can get dressed up or be more casual with jeans and a nice shirt, both work here. I always make a reservation but I don't think you don't have to. While it's not the most expensive place, the bill can get pretty large easily, however, it is well worth every cent.

The food at this restaurant was good for New Bedford but not worthy of mention otherwise. It is a bar, with TV on and quite visible. The menu is ambitious sounding but, a lot of the food is fried. The salad dressing for a pear, gorgonzola, pecan salad was awful. The salad was good but the dressing ruined it. The pasta with lardon was fine, but very plain. My dining partner liked his short ribs and his bruschetta. The house wine had no taste whatsover. It was inexpensive by the glass so our fault for ordering it. I would go here again if I was going to hear music in New Bedford. Otherwise, would not return.

Disappointed. Been to Cork 2X prior and enjoyed it. Heard new mngmnt was aboard. Clear differences and not for the better. Staff pleasant enough but a bit pokey and missing the professional sparkle of days before. Food tepid and amateurish and not as promised on menu (e.g. "blackened" goat cheese arrived barely warmed on my salad...duck not properly seared and dish too sweet, an imbalance of flavors...one of the more interesting wines BTG not available....never would've happpened at old Cork!) Too bad. Not a terrible restaurant but a mere shadow of its former self. We won't be back.

EXCELLENT TAPAS MENU. EVERYTHING PREPARTED EXCELLENTLY. ONLY PROBLEM IS IT CAN GET COLD IF SEATED UPSTAIRS NEAR THE BACK DOOR WHICH IS CONSTANTLY BEING OPENED AND CLOSED.

As always the food was really good.We went with the Tapas menu...baked brie,cheesesteak rolls, grilled chourico on polenta (polenta was not up to par, dry and little flavor), chicken skewers and Scallops.I must admit I do prefer the atmosphere of the room downstairs, not as loud and more cozy.

Great flights of wine available. Excellent assortment of tapas and other apps...many of which could have been a meal by themselves. Great ambiance in the waterfront section of historic New Bedford...a great destination for a day trip.

My fellow foodie friend and I decided to hit Cork before heading to the "The Z" for a show. I started off with the "Mixing it up" wine flight consisting of Dom. Brune Pinot from France, 34° Cab from Argentina, and Xplorador Carmenere from Chile. All this for a modest $10. My friend had a lovely Granache. We both decided to split the Baked Brie app and it was heavenly. Pieces of crostini and baked flat bread were the perfect pairing for the elegant puff pastry containing melted brie and raspberry jam. We both had the duck which was over cooked, but the pear chutney and the heavenly butternut squash ravioli underneath made it a great dish all around. Drinks for dessert. Espresso martini win! Sweetness martini fail. Tasted like spiked eggnog.

A few of us kids (now in our twentys and thirties) took our parents out for their 37th wedding anniversary and enjoyed Cork immensely! We decided to stick to cocktails and Tapas and ordered from 10 different offerings, each one was excellently prepared and more than enough food for the 7 of us. Great atmosphere, great food, excellent service and considering how much you get, the price wasn't bad either.

Corks Wine and Tapa's was great. We ate here, for our first time, before a holiday concert and they were accommodating to a tight schedule. The service was wonderful, our waitress was friendly and very helpful with an indecisive bunch. The food was just superb. The restaurant has exposed stone walls and wood beam structure, which just make the space so interesting and romantic. The scallop dish was one of our favorite scallop dishes we ever had, from one scallop lover to another.

I am sorry for the review. My dish was excellent. My wife was never offered condiments. She would have liked ketchup but I could never get eye contact with the waitress. She certainly was a beautiful young lady but it seemed her friends were more important than waiting on all the other customers. I was never asked if I wanted another flight, or any other drink for that matter. We saw when she took our order and again when we were all done. She asked at that time if everything was OK. A little late, you might say. We are ordinarily 20-25% tippers but on this occasion I had a difficult time justifying a 15% tip, which is exactly what we gave. Probably too much!! Nice building though!

We had a very nice experience. We were there for dinner. The waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the unique cozy setting. The food was excellent. I had the ribeye and she had the ravioli. There was no problem carrying on a conversation. Very good experience.

The food was decent - not great - but I would go again. I had a lobster bruschetta - portion of lobster was good - but it was frozen lobster I believe, and there was a lot of claw tips. The other app was an empanada - it was an inexpensive app at $6 - it was OK. Scallop dinner was pretty good, rice was a bit subtle, salmon special was OK too - fish was not too overcooked which is always a nice surprise. Didn't order dessert because it was all off-site pre-packaged stuff I don't bother with (lava cake, cheesecake, and creme brullee). wine list has some nice surprises. Opus One at $165 is actually a nice price (didn't order it) but they do have some good "Super Tuscan" examples.
