Very good food and excellent service.
Great celebration night out. Everything was delicious . It was efficiently served and allowed us to enjoy a leisurely meal with good friends.
My wife and I dined here many times over the years and always had an amazing experience, but our visit last weekend was disappointing. The food was bland and the wedge salad was 4 pieces of iceberg lettuce with 2 cherry tomatoes. The waiter informed us that they acquired a new head chef. Many favorite menu items were gone. Salmon was salty. Sad because we loved this place, but with so many dining options in the area they will need to step it up.
Excellent food and service by Emilia as our server. Great evening
As always, outstanding. The new chef will continue to make the excellent standards and create his own new dishes!
From our server, Heather to our departure, the evening, food excellent.
We were celebrating a birthday and the cake/dessert were beautiful.
We took a bottle of wine and corkage was only $20.
Great place for a special occasion, and get one of their curved booths, excellent for conversing.
Service is friendly and attentive. The shrimp and crab cakes appetizer was outstanding. Unusual preparation with a tomato compote. Definitely going to repeat that.
Entrees were delicious. They are high on their seafood stew. It is solid.
The menu has at least 3 more appetizers and three entrees we are anxious to try. We will be returning.
The atmosphere is upscale. It is convenient to the JW Marriott resort. It's probably the best place in the general area. Food was okay but not the highlight.
Joshua was the best waiter we have had in awhile anywhere in the desert. Food, ambiance and service all very good. Only ding is it’s pricey. You get what you pay for!
Outstanding cuisine and service... would highly recommend it!
Always a great experience! Food and service excellent!
The revised menu is a disappointment. We’ve ordered escargot every time we’ve been there. Never again, the new prep is not the same. The lamb price is ridiculous. Generally the experience was a disappointment and while we may return it won’t be with nearly the frequency of the past.
We always have dinner here when we are in Palm Desert. We were not disappointed. I had duck and guests had scallops. Both were memorable. Chocolate lava cake topped off a delicious meal. Waiter was helpful, attentive and friendly.
Cork tree was one of our preferred restaurants and used to go at least once every fifteen days, our favorite was the escargots... not anymore, we could tell since our arrival that the place was empty (always was packed), when we left it was barely half of the tables occupied.
Needless to say that the new Cheff (5 star Michelin as they announced) was not comparable to Brian. We also ordered Ricotta dumplings and ended up on a plate with nothing but ricotta with some tomato sauce, never found a dumpling in two orders we asked.
The manager came to our table at the end knowing we had some issues and when I told her about the escargots, she debate with me instead of just a sorry about not liking them, not nice manners for a table that already showed dislike during their dinner.
The rest of the food was good, nothing spectacular, so sorry we’ll miss coming back.
Overall we enjoyed it very much. Large Caesar salad was so small it made us laugh.
Fabulous food! In our group we had the lamb, sea bass and salmon. All dishes were perfectly prepared. We sat outside, it was a delightful evening. The wait staff was attentive but not intrusive.
Opening nite of the season. Not a good experience. Kitchen apparently struggling with new personnel. Only 4 scallops that were so tough my wife could only eat 2. The choppino had a different heavy tomato sauce and was skimpy on sea food. Main course took long time to come out. Compared to previous meals there, this was a big disappointment, particularly for my 80th. Service and ambiance was good. Don’t know whether we’ll go back, certainly not on opening nite.
There isn't anything that stands out about Cork Tree - the food was okay, but very pricey for just okay food. It is nice that you can get a half order of a salad as a starter. Other than that, it was a very forgettable meal, but because we dined with friends, we had a good time anyway.
Excellent in every way
I always love coming to Cork Tree for dinner.
I had the salmon and my boyfriend had the scallops. Both were so delicious. We shared a small ceaser salad which was just right. Great wine too!
I look forward to the Fall when you return with more wonderful food and fabulous service.
Thank you Cork Tree
We love this place and make a point to visit every time we are in Palm Desert. The service is always amazing. You feel very pampered and special while you are there. You never feel rushed. I highly recommend the sea bass and the ciopipino. They close for the season. So be sure to dine before June 30th.
I have visited this restaurant many times and it is one of my favorites.
We brought a nice old Pinot Noir since we knew we were having duck. The wine service was perfect and the wine was decanted.
We had the mini wedge salads. Very nice to excellent. They have gone from diced tomato to a single sliver which looks great but doesn't really work. I would change it back...
I go for the duck with mushroom risotto. The duck was a PERFECT med rare, but the pom syrup as a sauce didn't work - needed acid. A port wine reduction or virtually any other sauce would have been preferable. The risotto had great consistency but how you pair butternut squash in a wild mushroom risotto is beyond me - the mushroom flavor was LOST and as a side it was another meh. The entree was served with roasted brussel sprouts (not a favorite) which were cooked well but lacked something (like bacon) to make them interesting. So what was once a 5 star meal and a 5 star restaurant barely qualifies as 4 star - and at $37 it is almost an insult to both me and the duck breast! I did let the wait staff know (one waiter that had served us on 4 previous occasions wandered by and I think he remembered us well enough to perhaps take the comments back.
The deserts are fine but tired. The chocolate molten cake with ice cream was a nice way to finish the red wine and enjoy a ruby port to BUT surely a restaurant this good can come up with some interesting options! A mango mousse or anything lighter (that isn't sherbet) would be very welcome. I think the braised short ribs should reappear as well!
I have read some of the negative comments here and wonder when they could possibly have come! The lovely part of this restaurant is the wait staff, very smart interior design that keeps the ambient noise down and lit menus are very smart.
Great food & service & quiet for conversation. We were not rushed at all & could take our time. They even gave my husband a free dessert for his birthday!
We love going to the Cork Tree Restaurant. The food is always very good to excellent, and the service is excellent
Second visit here. We purposely stayed overnight in Palm Desert on our way to Scottsdale to eat at Cork Tree Restaurant! My husband had a repeat of the Pork Shank which he said is the best ever! I had the cioppino...outstanding! The chef recognized that you can’t throw all of the seafood into the broth at once unless you want rubberized seafood. The Cioppino was delicious and full of lobster, crab, scallops, shrimp, mussels Etc! Each ingredient was added at the precise time to perfection.
Always the great food and service! You can't go wrong at Cork Tree!
We always enjoy Cork Tree; one of our favorites. Everyone should go before it closes this winter. The staff is always wonderful
A REQUEST FOR SEPARATE CHECKS WERE IGNORED. WHEN ONE COUPLE ARE DRINKERS, THE SECOND COUPLE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR THEM. A SERVER SHOULD BE ATTENTIVE TO THAT REQUEST.
The outdoor patio is very nice. Beautiful and relaxing outdoors with lights in large palm trees and a big rock feature fountain. Food was very good.
Unfortunately, the service wasn’t so great. The server was too casual & forgot to bring us bread after he offered it to us, and he didn’t follow up to see how we liked our meal, and we had to ask for more water. His service didn’t at all match up to the ambiance and prices of the restaurant.
Always a favorite dining spot. Natalie’s & the kitchen’s service & tempo was outstanding. Easy to recommend to locals & visitors looking for a perfect dining experience.
As always, a wonderful meal and fantastic service. Great night!
Great chef, great food, great ambiance. This was our 2nd visit in a week and we will be back.
Amazing service and tasty dining! We thoroughly enjoyed our first experience at the Cork Tree. Our server was very personable, funny, and on top of it. He interacted well with my 10-year-old daughter, which always impresses me. (Many servers assume a child won't behave well in a nice restaurant.) He accommodated our split plate, substitutions, and answered all of our questions. The food was divine, too. We will definitely go back!
We had a wonderful dinner and the service was great
Booked a table for 5 on the patio as we had our dog with us. From the people at the door who greeted us and welcomed our dog, to our server, Wendy, to all of the busboys and food runners, all were very friendly and professional. Could not have asked for a better experience.
The food was delicious. Will be back.
We enjoyed our evening at Cork Tree. The service was excellent. It is a lovely restaurant. Our cuisine was good, not outstanding. We will visit again and hopefully the cuisine will be as excellent as our service was.
Very good overall experience. Gift certificate from our daughter, and we loved it! Will be back.
Always a great experience. I had the pork Shank which was delicious. I also highly recommend the beet salad
Service is Impeccable, equivalent to fine dining from legacy establishments. Cold fork with a perfect mini wedge salad. Filet Mignon with just a touch of crusty char, Grilled Prawns I cant stop thinking about. Perfect for a celebration or romantic dinner. Or Friday nights!
