Core de Roma - West Chester Ratings and Reviews
We arrived at 7 and still no food at 8:40 and they told us there was a problem in the kitchen and one more table needed to be served before me. The only person who handled this bad situation with us was the server, Bridget. We left without food
Will not go back
My husband and I went to dinner at Core de Roma for New Year's Eve. We have been here many times and the restaurant never disappoints. Reservations are suggested, especially on the weekend. Being a BYOB is very nice. The restaurant can get a bit noisy during busy times. The owner met us at the door and brought us to our table and chatted with us for a minute. He also stopped by our table during our meal to make sure that everything was going well with our dinner. It's certainly a nice touch. He is from the Trastevere neighborhood in Rome which explains why the food is so authentic and the menu is northern Italian cuisine.
Being that it was NYE, we had a choice of a Prix Fixe menu or a limited menu with great choices. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. I had Matriciana and my husband had Ravioli with crab and lobster. Our waitress was very attentive and we never felt rushed. Dining at Core de Roma was a great way to spend New Year's Eve! We will definitely be going back.
We had a family of 10 celebrating our wedding anniversary. The food is priced a little high but it was well prepared. I was disappointed to be seated right inside the door in the bar area. But it was quiet, which was important given elderly parents were with us and wanted them to be able to hear the conversation. Also they had only one waitress and one chef that night, so it took over an hour to get ur food after ordering. And the waitress was good but didn’t have enough time to be attentive to our table. I think this would be better for a couple going on a date night with no other destination afterwards (e.g., a movie).
Love their food. Brought my parents there for the first time and they loved it as well. I ordered their special osso bucco pork.....OMG so good! Their Cesar salad is delicious! My dad ordered the core de Roma special....Veal and crab with spinach and cheese.
The service is fantastic and the owners really care and appreciate the business.
The best service I have ever had. The owner and his wife were amazing. They came over and talked to us and were so welcoming. The food was also amazing. We went for my dads birthday and they even brought him a free piece of cake and biscotti for the table! Everything was home made and just amazing. Highly recommended!
I made a reservation for 8 of us for dinner after the West Chester University Holiday Concert. Not knowing how long the concert would run, I made the reservation for 5:30. When the concert ended at 4:15, I called the restaurant to see if we could just head over. They were fine with it once I explained why the change.
We arrived at the very unassuming building- a little strip mall type of building. The decor felt dated, and the place was completely empty upon our arrival. I'll admit that I got a bit nervous, but that feeling quickly subsided when our server greeted us in a friendly manner and was very knowledgeable about the specials and the menu. Being Italian myself, I know good home-cooked Italian food so restaurant food can be tricky for me. Admittedly, I'm a tough customer. We were all very happy with our food- especially the salmon special and the pork osso bucco. Everything was well prepared but these dishes were stand outs. We also ordered dessert and coffee- both of which were terrific. And the BYOB is the way to go. I tend to look for byob restaurants when we eat out.
I'm not sure when we will be in West Chester again but I'd eat here again if we are in town.
My husband ordered the tripe dish as he had done many times before. This time I think the waitress misunderstood when she asked him if he wanted it as a meal or an appetizer. He said meal please with spaghetti. The end result was a dish of spaghetti with tiny bits of tripe throughout. We are still planning on coming back to give it another try. We did not say anything that night because we were with other people who had to leave. Normally, the meal is full of tripe in a reddish brown gravy. Thanks
Our table was ready even though we were early which was wonderful. Our waitress Katie was sweet, very attentive, and accommodating!! The meatball appetizer is to die for and did not disappoint. Unfortunately the gravy on that app is not the gravy that comes on the pasta dishes. The regular red sauce is thin and not very flavorful. I ordered the Core de Roma with veal and chose to have capellini as the side which made this meal $30! Unfortunately it was very disappointing ... the lump crab tasted fishy and the veal had the consistency of a pressed ground patty. The capellini was delicious and tasted homemade but again the gravy did not add to the flavor. We will go back again since it is a BYO but I think I will get a pasta dish with the meatball app on the side and ask for extra gravy.
The best Italian food I’ve been served in quite some time! The artichokes appetizer and the homemade bread were a great start and it only got better. Everyone said their dish was the best until they tried something else! All the food was fresh top quality ingredients properly served. Our servers were friendly, well informed and quick to provide any requests. The owner was very attentive and stopped by frequently. We plan to go back often
Consistently excellent traditional Roman cuisine in an intimate atmosphere with personal service from the staff. The stuffed artichoke appetizer and Bolognese sauce are tremendous! I was devastated when their South Street location closed and am thrilled that they were resurrected in West Chester!
My husband and I went to Core de Roma to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
We had a great waitress(Kate) who was very efficient and attentive but not overbearing.
We shared the delicious roasted artichoke and a salad.
We each had a pasta entree that was outstanding.
An excellent dining experience.
All-of us had a wonderful dinner. All were pleased with our appetizers and main course, prices are fair. Service was good and owner charming.
However, we feel that the desserts and coffee were priced high.
We will come back, but will pass on coffee and dessert which was $38 total.
We were greeted very warmly by the owner, GiGi. He talked to use while we were seated, telling us about where he was from and what he recommends. He made it clear that they would do their best to accommodate allergies. He took great pride in his restaurant.
We sat in the front room, which was much quieter than the back room. They asked us ahead of time which room we would prefer.
The restaurant was comfortable and had beautiful fresh flowers throughout.
My husband had a veal dish which he said was delicious. I had a salad special with pineapple, fresh mozzarella and balsamic with a side of meatballs. Both were large portions that I had to take home.
We enjoyed our night. Place feels comfortable and homey but romantic at the same time. We definitely recommend.
