Core de Roma - West Chester Ratings and Reviews
The food was phenomenal. My lovely date brought wine which they immediately opened for us. They started us off with bread and olive oil and a bean side dish. We ordered an appetizer size of homemade gnocchi which just melted in your mouth. Our entrees were perfectly timed and just as delectable. We ended the night with homemade cannolis. It was a phenomenal dinner and I highly recommend.
We had a lovely Valentine dinner with another couple . We enjoyed a calamari appetizer that was lightly coated and tender . Our salads were enjoyable and the mozzarella caressed salad was especially delicious and could have been an appetizer . The entrees were equally good and the portions were generous . A cappuccino and the light lemon cake completed a wonderful meal . The service was friendly and attentive despite being a busy night . We had a great meal at a reasonable price in a cozy setting . Bring your favorite bottle of wine . It’s a byob .
Delightful Valentine's Day Lunch!
We had a wonder lunch. The food was excellent. I had delicious chicken marsala with angel hair pasta on the side and a very good cesar salad. My husband began the meal with an excellent calamari salad and loved his branzino fish sautéed in butter. We split a delicious cannoli and ended the meal with a cappucino and an expresso. The music was pleasant Italian singing.
A perfect meal!
The ambiance, decor and food was very good. My date had the salmon special and thought it was very good except for the kale as a vegetable. I had chicken parmigiana and it was also very good and huge portion. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the service. Understaffed and owner preferred talking to friends rather than assisting his servers.
I have been here on several occasions. Every time the owner would stop by at least twice to see how we were doing. I arrived on time on a Saturday night for our 7:45PM reservation and my table was ready and waiting for us in spite of the fact that every other table was occupied. Food was a little delayed because, as the owner said, some people arrived late and others on time which caused an onslaught of orders in the kitchen, but well worth the wait. All considered I would definitely go back. This place has great food and when not fully booked great service and owners.
This was my 2nd time eating at Core de Roma. The first time, we put in an appetizer order and meals to be told 30 minute later that the kitchen was backed up and if we cancelled our app then our meals would come faster. The food was great. I decided to take my boyfriend back to celebrate his promotion and we ordered an app and meals. We sat at the table for a full hour with no food. The server finally came over and asked to cancel the app so we can get our meals faster. At this point we were so fed up we got up and left. The only reason this place is still in business is because the food is good. Besides that, the service is horrible. If you cannot cook the appetizers in a decent amount of time, then why would you even have it as an option on the menu? Rather spend my money at Teca or Limoncello.
Very good food, terrible service. Waited for 45 minutes for or salad! When we asked our server to check on them, what do you know, they magically appeared within 60 seconds. Apparently she forgot about them. The restaurant was only 1/3 full at this point. Also she neglected to give us all of our items that we wished to take home. Really don't get how you can mess up service in a BYOB, with no bar/drinks to complicate things it's mind-boggling. Won't return and won't recommend.
The food was excellent although the service was a bit slow and a large group in the adjoining dining area was very loud, but probably not typical. The veal francaise was especially good and the linguine Was loaded with clams and I would recommend this restaurant.
We arrived at 7 and still no food at 8:40 and they told us there was a problem in the kitchen and one more table needed to be served before me. The only person who handled this bad situation with us was the server, Bridget. We left without food
Will not go back
My husband and I went to dinner at Core de Roma for New Year's Eve. We have been here many times and the restaurant never disappoints. Reservations are suggested, especially on the weekend. Being a BYOB is very nice. The restaurant can get a bit noisy during busy times. The owner met us at the door and brought us to our table and chatted with us for a minute. He also stopped by our table during our meal to make sure that everything was going well with our dinner. It's certainly a nice touch. He is from the Trastevere neighborhood in Rome which explains why the food is so authentic and the menu is northern Italian cuisine.
Being that it was NYE, we had a choice of a Prix Fixe menu or a limited menu with great choices. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. I had Matriciana and my husband had Ravioli with crab and lobster. Our waitress was very attentive and we never felt rushed. Dining at Core de Roma was a great way to spend New Year's Eve! We will definitely be going back.
We had a family of 10 celebrating our wedding anniversary. The food is priced a little high but it was well prepared. I was disappointed to be seated right inside the door in the bar area. But it was quiet, which was important given elderly parents were with us and wanted them to be able to hear the conversation. Also they had only one waitress and one chef that night, so it took over an hour to get ur food after ordering. And the waitress was good but didn’t have enough time to be attentive to our table. I think this would be better for a couple going on a date night with no other destination afterwards (e.g., a movie).
Love their food. Brought my parents there for the first time and they loved it as well. I ordered their special osso bucco pork.....OMG so good! Their Cesar salad is delicious! My dad ordered the core de Roma special....Veal and crab with spinach and cheese.
The service is fantastic and the owners really care and appreciate the business.
The best service I have ever had. The owner and his wife were amazing. They came over and talked to us and were so welcoming. The food was also amazing. We went for my dads birthday and they even brought him a free piece of cake and biscotti for the table! Everything was home made and just amazing. Highly recommended!
I made a reservation for 8 of us for dinner after the West Chester University Holiday Concert. Not knowing how long the concert would run, I made the reservation for 5:30. When the concert ended at 4:15, I called the restaurant to see if we could just head over. They were fine with it once I explained why the change.
We arrived at the very unassuming building- a little strip mall type of building. The decor felt dated, and the place was completely empty upon our arrival. I'll admit that I got a bit nervous, but that feeling quickly subsided when our server greeted us in a friendly manner and was very knowledgeable about the specials and the menu. Being Italian myself, I know good home-cooked Italian food so restaurant food can be tricky for me. Admittedly, I'm a tough customer. We were all very happy with our food- especially the salmon special and the pork osso bucco. Everything was well prepared but these dishes were stand outs. We also ordered dessert and coffee- both of which were terrific. And the BYOB is the way to go. I tend to look for byob restaurants when we eat out.
I'm not sure when we will be in West Chester again but I'd eat here again if we are in town.
My husband ordered the tripe dish as he had done many times before. This time I think the waitress misunderstood when she asked him if he wanted it as a meal or an appetizer. He said meal please with spaghetti. The end result was a dish of spaghetti with tiny bits of tripe throughout. We are still planning on coming back to give it another try. We did not say anything that night because we were with other people who had to leave. Normally, the meal is full of tripe in a reddish brown gravy. Thanks
