Coquette Ratings and Reviews
The sommelier & lead server / manager made our evening complete- total accolades to them both! We indulged in the blind tasting/wine pairing - memorable dishes were lamb lollipops, steamed trout & potato croquettes...rice w/pickled radish was a miss. Our designated server was too rushed & uninformed to handle a tasting menu but thankfully that’s when the lead stepped in to give us an overview (& solicit feedback). Overall a nice evening but for the price point, we’ve enjoyed other tasting experiences more...
Coquette is a very cozy place well worth the drive. Everybody is soooo helpful and kind. We were asked if everyone in the party could walk up the satirs because the 1st floor was temporarily closed and if there were any food allergies. When we said we didn’t like cooked cabbage the chef sent us potatoe instead. Very friendly waiters!
Couldn’t fault this place. The food was terrific - we had the smoked catfish served with fresh crunchy vegetables and the boudin noir with oyster to start. Then for mains the scallops with a herby sauce (sorry for the lack of technical specifications here but it was delicious!) and drum seared to perfection. The service was super friendly and attentive. All around a great evening!
food was really good not great. beautiful location, have been there before. experience was marred by the 27 degrees outside and the inability of the greeter to keep people moving and not standing there with the door wide open for minutes at a time. all the tables surrounding the door were affected and commented. would definitely eat there again and request the upstairs.
I only become more bold in saying this with each successive visit, but i'm pretty sure that Coquette is the best restaurant on the planet.
My wife and I have been to Coquette 3 times now over the last 6 years and we always get the chef's tasting menu. The flavor combinations are so creative, so brilliant it's a treat for all of your senses. I'd also strongly recommend the wine pairings. They are truly well considered and only enhance the experience. The desert pairing is usually a special treat.
The only reason we don't go more often is that i live 700 miles from there. If not, we'd go back every time the menu changed.
We did the blind tasting, not worth the $70 p/person in our opinion. Catfish dip with veggies, roasted carrots, gumbo, rabbit plate, sorbet, and dessert... carrots and small cup of gumbo, though good, not worth the price for the tasting. Individual plates are probably better to order, but we weren't really wowed for the almost $300 we spent ($35x2 for the wine pairing). The wines were good. Overall, the food was good, just not <$300 (including 18% tip) OMG good for the blind tasting.
Terrible. We had read the reviews and ate here. our food suspiciously arrived within 10 minutes of ordering and I had to send mine back as it was barely warm and on tasting, was undercooked.
Very condescending waitress reluctantly took it away to discuss with the chef. A completely different dish was presented to me that bore more of a resemblance to the menu description.
Waitress asked if it was 'more to my taste'. Lots of staff prowling around and on the whole a very austere and unwelcoming environment. They did comp my entree but I would not return and would not recommend.
We went to Coquette's on Christmas Eve and enjoyed it. The food - we had a meat and a chicken dish - was very good and our waiters were efficient but also friendly. A table next to us where everyone was having Ravillion (sp?) looked like they were having a great time. We're from out of town, but we would go back to Coquette's - maybe try lunch next time.
The food was good, not over the top fabulous, as I have come to expect from this restaurant. Too much fat on all the meats (including chicken breast sandwich) detracted from our enjoyment. And it would be nice if the servers smiled every now and then. Service was very competent, everything on time and delivered well, but servers looked very unhappy throughout the meal!
We ate here for the first time while in NOLA for a wedding. We had the most wonderful brunch....fried chicken, greens, bread and butter pickles, home made buttermilk biscuits, grits, and a side of pimento cheese...oh and deviled eggs!! It was all divine and top notch service and ambiance to boot. Geaux there!!
Came highly recommended and was totally worth it! Trust the chef and go with the tasting menu. They are super adaptable and asked about allergies, strong dislikes, etc. I would not have ordered many of the things we got on the tasting menu but was so glad to have tried them. The red snapper dish was AMAZING. The seafood and all ingredients were so fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend for a date night or group of friends if you are all willing to drop a little cash. Fantastic wines as well.
When my friend suggested this restaurant I thought it looked great based on reviews. I was very disappointed.
We were seated in front of the door on a very cold night despite having made the reservation weeks prior.
The food was average at best for those prices. The small plate shrimp was over cooked The beef was very tough and filled with grizzle. We did not complain but when they saw we did not eat it they did offer to remove it from our check.
There are too many great options in NOLA to waste money on this one.
