About Coquette Cafe
Nestled in the Landmark Building in The Historic Third Ward, Coquette Cafe serves up authentic bistro fare in warm, casual surroundings. Coquette is the kind of place where guests can pop in any time of day for everything from French Onion Soup and Flatbread Pizza to Crisp Provincal Roast Chicken. Whether it's cozying up to the bar for a glass of provincial French wine or exclusively brewed French ale, or having dinner or a small banquet in one of its three bustling dining areas, Chef Nick Burki and his wonderful staff are eager to accommodate one's every need. Although brand new in February of 1999, Coquette's informal decor blends well with its vintage surroundings. The dark wood, mirrored back bar and glowing gold walls invite you in to experience top quality and unassuming fare that you might find in the home kitchens of French grandmothers.

Coquette Cafe Ratings and Reviews
We decided on Coquette Cafe after a visit to the theater with old friends. The French Cusine is why we chose this place and we were not disappointed one bit. I tried the Soup Du Jour which was a Curried Root Vegetable Soup with a hint of Cinnamon. It was delightful. For my entree, I decided on a notable French Salad with Duck Confit. The salad was good with fresh green lettuce, wilted green beans, tomatoes, boiled eggs and a lovely dressing. The Duck Leg was good enough to satisfy my Duck craving for the Season. I opted for the Key Lime Pie and it was as pretty as any picture of food. It was excellent. My dinner companions were pleased with their choices as well. The service was wonderful. Our waitress was knowledgeable and energetic. We decided that the Coquette Cafe will be on our list to return soon.
We were very disappointed with our meal. I ordered the Coq Au Vin, a recommended dish. The chicken was cold in the middle. It was warmed up when I complained, and they had nuked the flavor and moisture out of it. It had no taste. My husband had the hanger steak and it was chewy and bland. Frites were nothing special. Alioli tasted like fish.....awful. This restaurant use to be our favorite......not anymore.
food is always excellent. Service is wonderful. Person feels very welcome at the restaurant.
Very good at recommending wines, desserts, specials and entrees. The fennel sausage pizza is delicious, right amount of sausage, cheese, and sauce- my favorite but all the their pizzas are excellent. The meatloaf entrée is excellent. The desserts are so delicious hard to pick one.
Enjoyed our experience at Coquette for all the major aspects of dining. First and foremost the food, followed closely by the serve and then then ambiance. My wife and I commented that the time flew by and what seemed to be about 45 minutes was actually close to two hours.
I was wholeheartedly disappointed with my experience at Coquette. I had looked forward to visiting for years and unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. First, the server was very kind, attentive and patient as we asked several questions about the menu. That's the only positive I can provide. The bartender was not personable (although the martinis were tasty). We had a a reservation on a weeknight. Only 3-4 other tables were occupied during our entire 2 hour visit so I don't know if reservations are necessary during the week. Once we ordered, it took much longer than expected for our food to arrive, especially since the restaurant was not crowded. Of the four in our party, three ordered salads without protein and one ordered the Polet Roti. The food was average, nothing extraordinary and nothing to motivate me to visit again. The atmosphere was not as I expected either- very unassuming.
Do not expect a special treat if you are celebrating a special occasion. It was my daughter's birthday which I reminded the hostess upon arrival. They brought out a large plate with "Happy Birthday" written with caramel sauce and small dollops of whipped cream across the plate, one of which a lit candle was placed.
A total let down...will not recommend to others.
The charcuterie was the best part of the meal. The salads were good, but not overly inspiring. I had the meatloaf, which I really enjoyed, but the mashed potatoes could have been better. Those that had the trout were disappointed. The fish was swimming, but the “sauce” was thin and not overly tasty. If you want dessert, go for the meringue. It definitely made the dinner. Atmosphere is good.
Couwuette has been one of our favorite spots for years. We eat out alot at various places trying new spots all the time. In the past we knew we could always come back to couwuette.
Tis time the hanger steak seemed like it was reheated. The coc au vin was a bit tough or dried out. The onion soup was very good as were the Ponte frites. A typically the wait person we had was really behind the eightball not anticipating our needs as in previous occasions.
So overall we were disappointed
An outstanding dining experience. The Hanger Steak is a favorite of ours, as is the Pumpkin Ravioli. Usually go for the delicious French Onion soup, but tried the Thai Peanut & Carrot soup special; it was fantastic. Salads are a delight as well. And the best Creme Brulee around. Not to mention friendly, super attentive service. We recommend Coquette Cafe highly and hope for many happy return visits.
We have been enjoying the Coquette Cafe since opening day. Tonight's meal was wonderful! Our longtime friend and server David was the consummate professional, as always, and the meal was better than expected. Go, enjoy, ask for David's section. You will not be disappointed!
An excellent meal as always. Coquette Cafe has become a favorite of myself and my friends.
I was disappointed that the mussels weren't on the menu and this "forced" me to have the hangar steak, which has become my new favorite, pommes frites and aioli excellent.
We shared the charcuterie plate - great variety and the desserts, chocolate mousse, pumpkin pie and creme brulee were wonderful
Will return frequently.
