Brought to you by Award Winning Chef Michael Chiarello and located at Pier 5 on the the bustling San Francisco Waterfront, Coqueta is inspired by the cuisines of Spain. Chef Chiarello feels that Spain"s signature ‘small plates’ coupled with the social vibrancy of their dining scene is the perfect combination for San Francisco, which has its own deep-rooted history with the country. Focusing on regional dishes from Madrid, Catalonia, the Basque Country and beyond, the menu will feature Chiarello's interpretation of traditional Spanish cuisine and, as has always been his tradition, will highlight the bounty of fresh, local ingredients from land and sea.

Coqueta Ratings and Reviews
Coqueta is a favorite of ours, but we selected it on this particular occasion because it was my birthday and they sent me a coupon for a free birthday dessert. We always share the tapas and order the same ones over and over again -- don't think we have ever even tried an actual entree because the tapas are so good. Their Patatas Bravas are the best we have ever had -- small and crispy, fabulous texture and flavor. The wait staff is both efficient and charming, and she actually brought us TWO free desserts, as a special treat. I highly recommend this place and go there often.
Great place to share food with dinner companions. The food was delicious and seasoned well. They seemed to portion the food based on our group size. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Only negative would be that there were only two bathrooms for the entire restaurant so there was a lineup every time one of us went to the bathroom. Unique approach to doggy bags in that they give you a baggage claim tag and you pick up your leftovers on your way out!
It was our first visit to this restaurant. Our waiter couldn't have been less enthusiastic as he seemed to treat us almost with disdain.
At 7:30 pm they were out of both kinds of sangria which is odd for a Spanish restaurant.
Food was interesting and well executed.
I love Coqueta! It has been one of my favorite restaurants for a few years. I recently came with a large group, 8 of us all together, and the staff was amazing. The rest of my group was nearly 40 minutes late (...I know) but the manager was unbelievably accommodating and was still able to get us in. It was pretty embarrassing being the only person in my group and explaining the situation but everyone was very gracious. The food was great, as always. We let our server choose our tapas and entrees for us, which was amazing! The charcuterie plate was stunning and the rib eye was next level. The food is always great, and I love the wine list.
I've been to Coqueta a few times and have had a wonderful experience. I too my out of town co-workers and the food was phenomenal. However, the service wasn't great. The bussers were actually a lot more polite and engaging that out actually server. I've worker in the service industry and was disappointed on the server's lack of suggestions for food, especially in perhaps upselling me on items that might be work trying, or answering clear questions on what might be good vegetarian options. Additionally, he seemed to take away our drinks and not ask for what refill we may want. It was a bit rude. Other than that, the experience was very good and I would come back, but hopefully not get the same server.
Coqueta isn't inexpensive, but what you get for the money is great. This visit included the pisco sour cocktail, always delightful. Then grilled octopus, gambas, and the cochinillo (roast suckling pig). The wine pairing was a Ribera del Douero tempranillo, a delight!
Been here a dozen times, never tire of the chef's imagination and the kitchen's execution.
Our dinner was wonderful. Quite packed at 5:30 PM on a Sunday and quite full of fun and beautiful people. We had many options to select from as my friend is a veggie, and everyone was more delicious than the next. Love the way they served the wine and small liters and that the desserts could be ordered as bite-size
The ambiance is beautiful and the food ok, but the drink service was a disappointment. It would literally take 20 min to get a round of beverages and and we were just drinking wine. It was blamed on "peak" time. Definitely, need to get another set of bartenders. For the amount of money we spent there, everything should have ran smoothly.
Absolutely wonderful! The menu is intimidating for a non foodie but we sat at the bar and watched what was going out of the kitchen and were inspired. The paella is the best we have ever had (even after 2 trips to Spain) and worth the price. The gambas (more shrimp) are amazing. There was a luscious mushroom plate as well. We saw lots of orders for the smoked salmon open faced sandwiches which were the safe and recognizable menu bet but I highly recommend being adventurous here as it is all delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
There was a $25 corking fee to bring our bottle of wine from Napa. They serve wines from their own very small Chiarrello vineyard. We had found out about Coqueta at their tasting room in Yountville, Napa Valley. Their wines are delicious especially the very unique Chiaro Rose.
We had a very fun evening.
Very much enjoyed our dinner here. Started off with a number of small plates and the charcuterie cheese board - all amazing. Finished off by sharing the steak entree which was enough for all three of us. The wines from Spain were nice as were the cocktails. Would definitely revisit
We sat at the Kitchen bar, and it was very exciting to watch the food coming out and the kitchen working at a frenzied pace. We had the Jamón Serrano, Manchego cheese, and the Paella. All were amazing. The service was great, with the kitchen giving us detailed information about each dish. Try the red sangria, it's fruity but not too sweet.
Food was excellent, as was the service, although the tables are so close together, I never really saw our server, as she was always behind me. Overall great experience as long as you do not mind being closer to the people at the tables next to you than the person you are with on the other side of the table.
This is my second time here, and it was even more amazing this time. The cocktails are tasty, beautiful and so fresh. The margarita with salt air and the fresh gun and tonics are just a few examples. The food is delicious, presented beautifully and our visitors from out of town couldn't get over all the tasty dishes. The service and location are also incredible. Can't wait to go back!
I really enjoyed this restaurant the first time I dined her a year ago but the luster has worn off. Pretty high priced and the food was not as amazing this time around. Maybe it's just that snooty service andthe minimal portions "so-called" tapas food just didn't appeal this time around.
