The quality of the tomahawk steak could of been better it had a lot of fat, the service and everything else was great
One of our favorite neighborhood dining places. Good and drinks superb as always. Nice to see familiar wait staff.
Food always excellent and was able to eat outdoors.
Delicious, fresh food with lots of choices for carnivores and vegetarians. Gorgeous interior and stellar service. Indoor/outdoor seating. I highly recommend it!
This was my 1st visit to Copperwood, and I'll return. Service was prompt and efficient. Brie and steak salad were delicious, and by eating outside we enjoyed the energetic ambiance (complete with well behaved pet canines) that Campbell Ave in Shirlington provided on Saturday night. Food was a good value for what you received.
Made a reservation for noon and was sat right away. Server greeted us soon as we sat down. Water and popcorn arrived shortly after we ordered our drinks. Quality of food and temperature was excellent. Cauliflower hash was the star dish. It was flavorful and well-seasoned. Wish there were more than just two biscuits though. :(
Great service great food. Great evening overall
Wines (cab and pinot noir) were good; salmon was cooked to order; duck was a bit chewy; service was great. Nice to be back dining again!
We sat outside, which was very nice. The food was delicious; fresh and good size portions. The mashed cauliflower was especially yummy!
Very enjoyable brunch location. Plenty of space and variety on menu.
Fabulous food. However they only get a 4 because their outside wait staff is not attentive to the customer. For their prices, they should be more proactive with respect to things like refills of coffee and water. That was not the case yesterday. Indeed commie he was gracious and thoughtful. However pama perhaps because of understaffing, there was insufficient follow up.
I usually really like this place but it was a bit sub-par on the night we went. Food wasn’t really hot coming out, the fried green tomatoes were over fried. Almost like dried crackers. Didn’t offer corn bread. Saw they had halibut online but didn’t have it in the restaurant/on menu.
Would have been better if my English muffins weren’t still frozen in the middle.
We went for brunch. The appetizers were not good however the drinks and food was.
Expect quality, surprisingly delicious food when you visit Copperwood Tavern. A friend and I have eaten there several times and simply gotten a salad with steak, which was always cooked to perfection (the steak). Last night it was my friend and two friends visiting from Boulder. They are world travelers and I was a tad worried Copperwood might not be 'hip' enough for them. OMG! All four of us were blown away. I had oysters on the half shell to start... and my friends shared the baked brie (encased in a light layer of phyllo with small wedges of honeycomb, grapes, and thin apple slices!). My friends also had the French Onion Soup, which they said was a cut above any they'd had before. They seemed to detect a hint of dark beer in the broth, which they said added to the soup. Two friends had the filet mignon and said it was cooked to perfection. The steak frites were lovely. I ordered the 14 oz ribeye cooked medium rare. I'm a big follower of keto so I need the extra fat---and this ribeye did not disappoint. Well-marbled, juicy, and served with lovely sautéed mushrooms. We had two bottles of Pinto Noir. It was the best I've ever had. The restaurant wasn't super busy, probably because it was a rainy Monday night. Copperwood Tavern hit every note and more. Thank you Copperwood to all your attention to detail and for making an average Monday night restaurant experience over-the-top wonderful! Kathy
Marcos was our waiter and he was on it. Super attentive, always asking if we were okay or needed anything. The only negative to this experience was the fact that this table was SO freakin sticky, when I asked someone to wipe it down he said that's just how this table was. That's most definitely not an answer — since while eating brunch we STUCK to the table the entire time. Improvement options and thoughts could be
1. Remove this table if it is "just how it is" it's quite disgusting and people don't want to stick to the table when they eat.
2. Restain the table to have this not be an issue.
3. Place glass on the table to have very little changes and still be able to use the table.
Other than this issue, the food was excellent! It was my boyfriend's first experience and he loved it and was raving about the food.
We didn’t stay. The menu wasn’t the same as online. The server paid us no mind for real while we looked over the menu. The atmosphere was cool but overall lacking so we left.
They accommodated us outside and was perfect. First time visit food was awesome, service awesome and attentive. Definitely go back
Fantastic place! We couldn't decide on what to eat, everything looked so delicious! Will definitely go back so we can try everything!
Thought there would be more of a selection. Considering the name and the restaurant perhaps gourmet burgers might be a consideration on the menu.
I would have rated the food hunger, but they no longer have a vegetarian entree on the menu, which is disappointing. The sides were good and the salad fresh, but it would be great to have at least one entree option.
Overheard the bartender indicate to another patron that there is a new executive chef. Boy was that the truth. As someone that frequents this establishment my friends and I were all sadly disappointed with our food. Honestly, it wasn’t good. However, their redeeming quality is their service. The hospitality is top-notch. Wait staff is kind, patient and funny! It’ll be hard to come back because the food was so lackluster.
All our dishes were fabulous - trout with pecans, rabbit ragu and steak salad. We also loved our waiter
The food and drinks were fantastic and we loved their outdoor seating.
I’m a bit disappointed in the dinner food. I have come here severely times for breakfast and had great food.
Food and service was great. Covid protocols were being followed as well.
The food was okay and the service was average. We asked for certain breakfast items and 5 mins later the servicer came back to tell they ran out of that food item and that was done to us 3 times.
Food service was oddly slow today
Server was great. Food was fantastic and came out blazing fast even for Sunday brunch time.
Love Copperwood Tavern! Great neighborhood restaurant to go to with good food and excellent service. We have been here several times and have always had a good experience.
Don’t expect them to do anything for your birthday.
We ate outside on a cooler day. They had heaters. It was very pleasant.
Please contact telephonically
Food was prepared as ordered and served promptly. Kitchen on it's own initiative sent the waiter over to the table with another steak, because someone in the prep or service chain thought that it was delivered to me overcooked..it was not, so I declined.
Was not happy with the bland cheesecake. That charge was immediately removed from the bill.
Great brunch, but the host was doing double duty since one of the wait staff didn’t show up. He had a great attitude and worked hard, but the service was a little slow because of this. This won’t keep us from coming back... we love this restaurant!
Friendly staff, nice open space and fresh food. They did well honoring my reservation.
The service was a bit slow but the food was wonderful as usual.
The food and drinks were very good. I was just very disappointed that there was a worm on one of the oysters.. Otherwise, I would have given it a 5.
We came during happy hour and sat outside and it was lovely. We ordered 12 grilled oysters, lobster mac, steak tartare, salmon salad, and steak salad, and all of them were great. I had two commonwealth mules to drink, and they were also wonderful. We will definitely be back!
Excellent food. Excellent and friendly service. Very enjoyable experience overall.
